Continuation of Thread 1

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions, grr"- that sort of thing).

They still have those in Russia (although these days they don't grudgingly hand you a single square of splintery paper in exchange for your coin, there are actual rolls of loopaper in the cubicles). If it weren't for the economic sanctions I'd suggest importing some - they are ferocious.

Hovering isn't good for the bladder - inhibits complete emptying, so in the long term can contribute to incontinence - although it's an excellent thigh workout.

Boiledbeetle · 26/12/2022 00:14

At least here she didn't hand you the paper but once inside the cubicle you did have to wipe with IZAL medicated toilet tissue.which wasnt known for its absorbent qualities.

Id be quite happy to do the sitting having a fag in a pinny job these days. I used to clean pubs for a while years back so I'm immune to the worst of toilet mishaps, good with blockages and a mop bucket. The pubs gents on a Sunday morning is one of the vilest places on this planet. Plus I'm scary in real life, men fear me.

SinnerBoy · 26/12/2022 16:57

Oh dear, I hope they look and realise there's nothing to see:

uk.yahoo.com/news/police-investigate-flasher-gender-recognition-140324522.html

Police investigate 'flasher' gender recognition reform protester

According to the Scotsman, police did not arrest the individual immediately, however, the force has since received complaints and enquiries are ongoing.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 26/12/2022 17:40

If nobody prosecuted the penis monkeys in the libraries, I don't see why decorated tights would be a problem.

NitroNine · 26/12/2022 17:53

Grubbing around trying to find a way to persecute, sorry, prosecute, a woman for protesting? No, no, absolutely no threat to our rights at all 🤨🙄

Boiledbeetle · 26/12/2022 18:07

from that article linked to by Sinner:

However, it later transpired that she had been wearing some form of fake pubic wig.

No shit Sherlock!

Boiledbeetle · 26/12/2022 18:10

And

While critics shouted “shame on you” at the MSPs. One woman lifted their skirt and showed what initially appeared to be her genitals.

Genitals?? Initially?? Basic biology anybody?

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 26/12/2022 18:48

tbf, basic biology is not something they choose to know about ever, not just in this case.

Boiledbeetle · 26/12/2022 18:49

Fair point

Redebs · 26/12/2022 19:00

Boiledbeetle · 25/12/2022 23:40

I'll admit i don't hover myself, but have been known to give the seat a quick wipe down when I've felt it wise to. But that was when I was just sharing the facilities with women.

Knowing that it's now in the women's toilets women sitting, men standing to pee and a small number of those men also jerking off in there, I might need to start taking more cleaning products out with me.

But whereas before the hovering was not really a necessity unless you are completely germ phobic with the women's becoming a free for all hovering will have to be seen as part of your daily exercise regime.😶

I miss the old days of public toilets with a woman in a pinny sittng there with a fag in her mouth taking your penny from you. At least then the toilets are always as clean as they could be at all times. And no men would ever dare try to make it past the woman in the pinny.

If they brought back toilet attendants, you can bet there would be men in dresses, intent on proving themselves by getting into Women's Spaces!

I absolutely adore Elaine Miller. Her stage show is brilliant and also very interesting.

reduxx.info/man-who-slaughtered-family-over-gender-dysphoria-now-marked-as-female-in-maine-prison-system/

One man today, who knows how many tomorrow. The below has now been signed into law.

'a bill sponsored by Rep. Charlotte Warren (D-Hallowell), requires Maine prisons to “respect and acknowledge an incarcerated person’s consistently held gender identity irrespective of anatomy or physique.” The law specifies that housing placements must align with an inmate’s stated gender identity unless doing so would present “significant management or security problems” or threaten the health and safety of the inmate.'

Nothing about the health and safety of other inmates.

'The Maine Women’s Lobby, the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault, and the ACLU of Maine all sent representatives to the Maine legislature to testify in support of LD 1044.
None of their testimony mentioned any potential risk to the female inmates who would be housed with male convicts.'

Of course it didn't.

Britinme · 26/12/2022 21:37

And that's on my doorstep. I used to run Alternatives to Violence workshops in the women's unit as well as the men's. Good job I don't do it now. I'm disgusted with our governor for signing it.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 27/12/2022 07:12

Six foot one and nearly eighteen stone. What about the staff/guards - in my imagination incarcerated women are guarded by women - I know that isn't always the case and that there can be abuses, but women staff would be in danger with someone that big. Presumably keeping Balcer alone would be regarded as a breach of rights.
Taking the obvious solution and housing Balcer with the other person mentioned in the article would mean two inmates with a history of extreme violence against women getting together - again dangerous for staff as well as for female prisoners.

This is such madness.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 27/12/2022 08:20

Expensive madness - I hope the governor gets frequent updates on how much extra expense this will incur.

Though of course, it can be balanced against reduced services and supports for other woman prisoners, so that's all right.

I honestly struggle to see how they don't know that this is utter madness.

SqueakyDinosaur · 27/12/2022 10:03

Me too, bint. And given that women have already been attacked in comparable circumstances, asking what it would take for them to see how wrong it is, is an even more depressing experience than usual. Because clearly "women getting hurt" isn't enough.

SqueakyDinosaur · 27/12/2022 10:04

Whoops, sorry, that should be addressed to @SinnerBoy !

They haven't thought this through, they are assuming they're is just two genders. So transphobic.

what if the consistently held gender identity irrespective of anatomy or physique of a serial killer who's say murdered three kids and raped an 80 year is of a golden eagle who needs to be free to fly high over the Nevada desert to be his best version of himself.

What the fuck will they do then.

Yeah there may be management and security problems but if John can be Janice then surely to not let Trevor the serial killer be Samson the magnificent golden eagle would be transphobic.

There just soooooooo transphobic arent they.

Bigots.

Oh spit, wrong thread. I wish I could delete - will copy it to the right place and hope I don't get banned for spamming.

I worked with groups in that unit, and there are male as well as female guards. As prisons go, it is considerably pleasanter than the men's unit in the same prison. In the workshops I ran there, one of the things that came up was physical and sexual assault, and there was almost never a woman in the group who hadn't suffered one or the other.

duc748 · 27/12/2022 14:58

So the Democrats have been captured just like the Labour Party and Greens in the UK? Madness.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 27/12/2022 15:12

Britinme, was that assaults in prison, or in the outside world?

American rates of imprisonment are as baffling as American gun ownership.
