In reply to one of them, an 18 year old he/himmer, bragging about having stopped women watching a film:

Oh no! Saint Greta in "ignorant fucking twat" shocker.

VaddaABeetch · 16/12/2022 01:26

She is & always has been a ‘useful idiot’.

TheBiologyStupid · 16/12/2022 01:44

Very disappointing! I thought Greta believed in science...

Whatsnewpussyhat · 16/12/2022 01:57

On the plus side, that was a spectacular own goal as Adult human female is being promoted wonderfully on that thread.

TheirEminence · 16/12/2022 06:29

But … how dare you?!? 😆

Rainbowshit · 16/12/2022 07:00

Well done Greta. You've just increased the viewing figures for the film massively. 😂

Greta Thunberg doesn't believe in science, Greta Thunberg believes in Causes.

Some Causes / campaigns, / activism have a scientific basis. For example the evidence for climate change and the projections on its consequences are robust.

Others do not. Indeed they are anti-science, for example gender ideology.

But if Causes are what you crave, that doesn't matter.

FOJN · 16/12/2022 07:19

TBF all the political parties who are supposed to push the green agenda are full on TWAW so I would have been surprised if Greta had thought differently.

It's also great publicity for the film.

Clymene · 16/12/2022 07:23

It's about time people realised what a muppet she is

DuncanBiscuits · 16/12/2022 07:27

What has she actually done for climate change?

Genuine question. I know she turns up and makes speeches rants in a querulous voice, but have they ever changed anything?

I’ve seen her mentioned in the same breath as Rosa Parks, but I’m unclear as to what she’s actually achieved.

BatCheeseIsFine · 16/12/2022 07:29

She did say “don’t listen to me. Listen to the scientists”. So it would be reasonable for her to apply the same logic. But there is a lot of misrepresentation of scientific results going on, and AFAIK Greta isn’t a scientist or statistician herself and may be just accepting statements like “science shows trans people’s brains match their desired gender” without seeing what questions need to be asked to make sense of that.

she’s also, obviously, an idealist, which is not a bad thing, and a young, sheltered, privileged woman who doesn’t have a lot of experience of misogyny and how it operates. Like so many women including me, she’ll probably get a deeper understanding as life experience begins to outweigh patriarchal programming.

I hadn't realised it was on YouTube, so thanks those blokes!

nauticant · 16/12/2022 08:01

If you've been listening to Greta Thunberg lately you'll have seen she's shifting to anti-capitalism protesting. It looks like she's just taking onboard the complete set of accepted and unexamined beliefs.

ItWasPeculiarButBearable · 16/12/2022 08:06

Say whatever about Greta’s beliefs but you can’t possibly believe she’s never experienced misogyny!?

BellaAmorosa · 16/12/2022 08:06

Very astute, @Chersfrozenface

She went on a sailing boat across the Atlantic instead of flying. I haven’t heard if sailing is still her preferred mode of transport for intercontinental trips but, as I doubt she funded it herself, I suspect not.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/12/2022 08:10

I saw one response to her tweet saying something like 'I suppose biology lessons must have been on Fridays'. Grin

Another one suggested that Greta and Dylan have met, so it wasn't a random like.

teawamutu · 16/12/2022 08:12

She's autistic, isn't she? And we know children with ASD are particularly likely to adopt gender ideology.

EdithStourton · 16/12/2022 08:25

I can't say I'm surprised. She's always struck me as furious rather than clever.

All good for the viewing figures, however.

Lovageandrose · 16/12/2022 08:26

Imagine starting a thread to bash teenagers 😂

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/12/2022 08:29

Are teenagers immune from criticism? This is news to me. The Scottish government thinks they're old enough to become MSPs so they'll need to grow up fast to deal with the avalanche of abuse any elected politician gets nowadays.

Rightsraptor · 16/12/2022 08:38

Greta T is 19 years old and, in the UK at least, is legally an adult. I suspect also in Sweden, though I'm not sure of that.

This thread was not started to 'bash teenagers'. It's highlighting the unpleasant beliefs of one such who has a lot of political capital in some quarters. She, like everyone else, should be able to argue for her beliefs in a cogent manner.

Lovageandrose · 16/12/2022 08:39

The scottish government also think a man in a dress is a woman 😂😂

Yes, they have and interact fairly regularly online.

DH is a young female who has recently had surgery. Is very vocal and self-righteous. If anyone has ever had dealings online with DH's dad, you'll know where the internalised misogyny and tedious self-righteousness comes from.

I also hadn't realised the film was available online. Will have a watch this morning!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/12/2022 08:42

Yes, the Scottish government is a disaster zone.

The other teenager involved here is 18, by the way, so also an adult.
