I actually expected The Independent to be a little more....Independent!

The reason for all the tantrums is because this service separates biologically female women from biologically male people identifying as women.

Yes, the support humans have to be IN the colonized space for this to work. Their discomfort 'validates' the identity of others. If they all decamp and go to another sex-segregated space, it defeats the purpose the TRAs set out to coopt in the first place, and highlights the reasons as to why they reject the reasonable compromise of a third space.

When you demand to be Lord of the Sun and Moon, you're always going to risk being told to go back to your ditch .

Someone claiming to be a gender non-conforming “cis” lesbian (using a picture of female journalist Sophie Corcoran as their profile picture 🤨) has been having a totally normal one; demanding to be told how they’re going to tell what sex someone is & being outraged harassing JKR leads to being blocked.

”I’ve got a genuine interest & I’m just asking questions!” Aye, right. Whole account is devoted to ranting about Teh Ebil TERFs; clearly no agenda 🙄

Link this too to the third space toilets/bathrooms/wards etc arguments.

There are always female women who are perfectly happy to be in a mixed sex space, and have no difficulty using those spaces.

There are activists however who don't want them. Their presence, being part of that group won't do. The target is always the non consenting women. The women who cannot share mixed sex spaces. The women who have boundaries not yet broken. Those are the women who must either submit or be punished, and why those women and being with them matters so much says a very good deal about a person who would view those women in such a way. As resources for them as opposed to real people, equally human.

And yes, apparently, there are some so fantastically selfcentred and without ability to care about others, that they would rather see females excluded and left without help than to experience a boundary on their personal sense of self.

Excluding women and leaving them with no help and is quite a bonus for some men.

Men going for those areas which are self evidently female only, like breastfeeding groups and miscarriage support, was framed as useful, because if you could conquer the extreme, all the rest would fall into place.

But from what I can tell, forcing their way into these areas gives them a massive kick, quite apart from the strategy involved.

There's no way the general public is going look at the unhinged tra kickback here and not see something highly creepy going on.

Or maybe they're scared women will realise that yes, actually they are allowed single sex rape support services under the EA exceptions and will expect RCS to provide them in other parts of Scotland?

I suspect you're probably right.

lifeturnsonadime · 13/12/2022 13:31

Gosh i had no idea of the link between Wadwha and the company winning the contracts from services losing funding for failing to include males.

That's shocking.

nilsmousehammer · 13/12/2022 13:33

Well the male-centred women's resources are indignantly identifying as not being inaccessible and exclusionary to women.

But since that's obviously bollocks, the existence of this is a huge embarrassment to them. This proves what they are so desperately trying to gaslight everyone about: that women's services now don't work for women.

That’s so sensible, Samphire.

When push comes to shove we have to get incentive. But we did lose almost £90,000 whilst trying to work out how to evidence our 'amazing reach, ever widening skill sharing and incredible diversity'. Including the vacuous sentences with all the emotive words rather than actual evidence, facts and figures!

And no. The men's shelter has never been asked if they accept women. They are simply extraordinarily kind, brave and totes amazing!
