My heart is all melted for JKR

Oh my. It's almost worth the court case.

No, no. We definitely don't really want that, of course.

LexMitior · 12/12/2022 11:24

I revise that. By her stance, she effectively says that she is less concerned by it because of changes to come in the law.

If the law applied properly in Scotland, she and her party could be considered to be discriminatory against women. The irony,

How any woman votes for her is beyond me

pinchpoint · 12/12/2022 11:25

Amazing. What a wonderful gift to women in need, when hardly anyone else offers genuine women-only services with no requirement to "check your thinking" and drink the gender Kool Aid.

She's a living legend, JK.

I wonder if it might become a flash point for tra demonstrations or vandalism, hopefully stopping at stickers. I hope even they wouldn't stoop so low. But if it does it will shine a light on their selfishness and misogyny, perhaps also illuminating the police, the press and the politicians.

In Vancouver they had rats nailed to the door of the only female rape crisis centre. There's no limit to how low TRAs will stoop.

But I guess if the worst came to the worst, and her hands were totally forced, how much Ben Cooper could JKR afford, do you think? 🤔😳

Nice thought, but she'd need the Scottish equivalent.

If Joanna Cherry is otherwise engaged who was briefed alongside her for Marion Millar's case?

RhannionKPSS · 12/12/2022 11:43

It’s just fantastic news, what a sweetheart she is.

LexMitior · 12/12/2022 11:44

Katie Walsh sounds like someone who has been a victim more than once. That is a sad message

Happylittlechicken · 12/12/2022 11:49

The thing is, Kaite would be perfectly welcome there. And males with a trans identity are welcome in nearly every other rape crisis centre in Scotland. Why are they so determined to paint this in a negative light, rather as an addition resource. Surely if there is this resource for women, that frees places like ERC to concentrate on males with a trans identity, so everyone wins.

Good grief. This sounds like something C Burns would say. Tragic handmaidenry.

You’ve invoked the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing 😱

Go outside, turn around 3 times and spit, and curse 😜

<West Wing reference for y’there!>

Happylittlechicken · 12/12/2022 11:57

On it @CaveMum we don’t want the ‘expert’ here

FunnyTalks · 12/12/2022 11:57

That is indeed a sad message. And a fairly pointless virtue signal. If she really feels that the possibility of meeting males is especially helpful for dealing with her trauma it's ok, she's got all the other services to use.

I almost get it. We live in a man's world. I've spent much of my life being a cool girl man pleaser. It took many years after the incident for me to understand that I was experiencing PTSD. It is a scary place to realise you are just a boring statistic and that violence against women and girls is endemic. So I kind of envy her stance; I guess she thinks either that it was all her fault or that she can tell which males are going to be the abusive ones. I wonder if that gives a false feeling of power.

aweegc · 12/12/2022 12:00

Well Katie wouldn't need to go there. Katie go to Rape Crisis couldn't Katie.

That's the point.

But, if Katie wanted to go to Beira's Place, Katie could also do that.

Nobody actually cares where Katie goes, as long as Katie gets the support Katie needs. The addition of provision for women may even mean it's easier to be seen at Rape Crisis.

So what on earth is Katie complaining about? "It's not fair! There's more provision and it's easier to be seen at the place I want help from!" Righty-ho, Katie.

IcakethereforeIam · 12/12/2022 12:02

I hope Kaite Welsh is okay, fortunately there is somewhere else for in Edinburgh. Perhaps performative wokery is therapeutic? I hope the lovebombing from the other woke performers is worth it. But maybe actually try actually 'being kind'? It's not for you but it might be a lifesaver for someone else. Why begrudge them that?

For a woman who can't stomach gender bull there's somewhere for her too now.

Thanks to JKR.

nilsmousehammer · 12/12/2022 12:03

ALL the existing services for women are mixed sex and very heavily weighted towards the prioritising of male service users. In fact the female service users are only allowed in the women's services if they are male-focused and will not in any way upset a male service user.

There will be one solitary option for females who want a female only service. Females who would prefer a mixed sex service? They've got all the choices. There's a whole wealth of places to go for help.

Now look at who is grudging females who are excluded from women's services one solitary place to go ?

And think about what that says about those people.

IcakethereforeIam · 12/12/2022 12:07

Ugh! Pink News, figures.

Dotellhimpike · 12/12/2022 12:17

I had some bloke complain on Twitter about Beira's place and what it meant for non binary and transwomen?

I pointed out that logically the existence of Beira's Place would mean less of a drain on resources on those other places that would provide a service to transwomen, so it should be welcomed.

Immediate block of course.

It has never about making sure there were enough services for trans and non-binary people, it has always about validation and not allowing women to have anything that is women only

Clymene · 12/12/2022 12:43

I don't know what happened to the word 'been' in that post.

It should say:

It has never been about making sure there were enough services for trans and non-binary people; it has always been about validation and not allowing women to have anything that is women only
