The WI non-members questionnaire: quick and easy to make your point

The WI is concerned that numbers are falling and fewer and fewer women are signing up. It doesn't seem to have occurred to them that women aren't keen on so-called women's organisations that accept men. Quick, easy and loads of room to say what you want.

Dreadful survey but hopefully they get the message that women won’t join so-called groups for women when they include men.

Igmum · 03/12/2022 13:11

Done

StellaAndCrow · 03/12/2022 13:19

I joined then left when they had a transwomen on the cover of their magazine.

StellaAndCrow · 03/12/2022 13:21

Interesting that "where did you hear of WI" literally the first option is Pride!

Feckedupbundle · 03/12/2022 13:27

( ChateauMargaux) I did.

StellaAndCrow · 03/12/2022 13:30

The second to last question says transwomen are welcome and asks are you a transwoman. If they put that up front they might get different replies, very interesting they leave it to the end to make that clear.
I only knew because of previously being a member very briefly until seeing their mag with a transwoman on the cover.

StellaAndCrow · 03/12/2022 13:31

They asked if we'd join a focus group - I said yes but they don't ask for contact details!
Maybe they think they've got enough info to narrow it down and find us . . . :)

PatChauncey, Ah, I have no knowledge of where the WI is and whether it's in Northern Ireland - I was commenting on what the survey said about where they operate which didn't mention Northern Ireland, or indeed Scotland, but did mention England and Wales and some islands. It doesn't say much for whoever drew up the survey.

Yes, and the options of England, Wales etc then one more option "I live a nomadic lifestyle throughout the UK"!
seemed oddly specific :)

Boiledbeetle · 02/12/2022 22:00

I don't about the rest of you but I am their target age.

Big mistake. Huge!

Yes same here and that’s what I told them. They need my age group to survive but whilst they allow men I will not be joining.

AndEverWhoKnew · 03/12/2022 13:43

Did any of you say you would consider joining so you could be on the focus group? Because I would consider it if they changed their TWAW policy.

Mynoodlesareoodles · 03/12/2022 13:48

I would be interested in joining the WI if they were women only, but don't have childcare. I've filled in the survey and said I wouldn't join if men are permitted. I mean ffs, the WI - inviting in needy males for me to validate.

Yes I was surprised by that. Why put that first?

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 03/12/2022 15:16

Yep, if the WI is captured then the name is a misnomer and they can wither and die as far as I'm concerned.

Inept survey too.

AgathaMystery · 03/12/2022 22:07

They tell you at the end to email them if you want to join a focus group

Iliveinanoodie · 03/12/2022 22:31

Done. I would like to join a women's only group. Interesting that that is a choice of reason to join in the options.

RaininginDarling · 03/12/2022 22:38

Thanks, I enjoyed filling that in and telling them why I won't ever join their pointless, irrelevant mixed sex organisation

JFDIYOLO · 04/12/2022 08:55

Done with pleasure - the 'other' button is very handy to explain I believe in the value of female space which their policy takes away, and that I would not be comfortable speaking about pregnancy, menstruation, menopause, breast care etc in the company of man whose motives I cannot be sure of.

Centring men while failing to support trans and NB members of the female sex struggling with that fact is a complete wrong-focus.

Also Ireland not in the UK...

Snnowflake · 04/12/2022 08:59

I can’t believe all those criticising their stance on trans women would have joined anyway.
I think it’s hard to run a group when ‘an easy way to make bread’ or a quiz or discussion are all available online.

GoldenGorilla · 04/12/2022 09:09

Done. Enjoyed telling them that I’m not giving up my precious free time to validate delusional men who want to pretend they’re women.

maeveiscurious · 04/12/2022 09:14

I was a member but the 2021 summer article on Petra saw me leave. The "celebration" of a man "leaving" his wife Lorraine left me cold.

I attended a group where a woman had been abused by her ex, the WI was initially a safe space for women to socialise. This is no longer the case.

Women are Adult Females, the WI is a mockery of all that we have fought for.

Justjuniper · 04/12/2022 09:57

Done

ivykaty44 · 04/12/2022 10:01

I wouldn’t be put of joining wI if it is mixed genders.

I'm not into single gender groups of people though, unless it is something like woman’s aid or a prison

bootsyjam · 04/12/2022 10:21

Bearing all these comments in mind has anyone had any thoughts about what the hell we're going to do at the next GE? Tories have to go but we're then ushering in a party who is led by a man who doesn't know what a woman is and I think we can all bet that this rubbish will snowball under an administration that openly supports it (no idea about the Tories they haven't done much to stop it either)

Apologies maybe this is a bit of a thread hijack will repost elsewhere in it's own thread. Genuinely concerned at our so called political 'choice ' on this issue.

woopdedoodle · 04/12/2022 10:26

I've been a member of mixed sex groups and single sexed groups. They are different, there is a different feel.
So it's simple what am I joining, I want to know. I've mixed with and been friends with transwomen in the past , and what ever surgery they'd had and what ever they wore, their minds and thought process, were 100% male .
