I think they will really struggle to find the balance of a robust experienced charity leader who is robust and resilient enough to restructure and who is willing to take on the publicity which comes with the job. It’s not a huge charity so it’s not massive salary level so limited pool of candidates I expect

"Struggle to find someone"? Think right now it would be easier and more popular to find a replacement CEO of Baader-Meinhof frankly. (One for the teenagers there)7

TheKeatingFive · 25/11/2022 19:32

Wow, that's fantastic news. I wonder what went down?

nauticant · 25/11/2022 19:33

The announcement on twitter:

twitter.com/Mermaids_Gender/status/1596196767653330944

That tweet permits no replies. But it is being quoted:

Pinniepotter · 25/11/2022 19:34

Does this have any effect on the LGB alliance court case?

nauticant · 25/11/2022 19:35

In the decision the judges will make, no. In the likelihood of Mermaids seeking to appeal the case if they lose, quite probably.

Ch3wylemon · 25/11/2022 19:36

Wow. An interim ceo will be appointed... Not a planned development then.

Boiledbeetle · 25/11/2022 19:37

Happylittlechicken · 25/11/2022 19:28

I’m very stealth, and have experience in charity work…. Anyone sees the ad, ping meeeee.

Remember when you apply that as you identify as gender fluid non binary trans furry you will need to do separate applications for each of your 23 gender identities.

I wonder which versions of you will get an interview

bellinisurge · 25/11/2022 19:38

@Pinniepotter , not directly. Although, I suspect Mermaids' imminent humiliation at it may be a factor. That and the Charity Commission giving them a closer look. I told my DH about the infamous video where she giggles at her son's surgery - I told him sit when telling him she'd gone. He asked whether that was why she was forced to leave. He was shocked to discover that this was just standard well known information.

NonHypotheticalLurkingParent · 25/11/2022 18:59

There’s just so many reasons for her leaving it’s hard to pick just one….

embargoed report from the judgement.

evidence from the Cass report that places her in the centre of advocating for/dictating harmful treatments of children at GIDS

evidence that safeguarding was ignored, because a paedophilic trustee worked a a stellar university

who knows?

Option 4: Susie Green’s recent self-serving, tone deaf Guardian interview sealed her fate by highlighting her glaring lack of insight and propriety, given the serious allegations at hand.

ickky · 25/11/2022 19:43

Maybe it was all the money streams drying up.

GrabbyGabby · 25/11/2022 19:43

Wow, so i was deleted for using the correct medical terminology for what Susie Green did to her child on their 16th birthday.

Slightly behind the times there MNHQ

VestofAbsurdity · 25/11/2022 19:44

I don't think that video thing she streamed during the LGBA case did her any favours either, it just showed to the world that SG had no fucking idea how to behave in the role she held.

Oh yes I was going for mor demiboi greysexual furry. I’ll be a shoe in.

CaveMum · 25/11/2022 19:45

Interesting note, I just tried to read the statement on Mermaids website but our BT Parental Controls have blocked the site! TERFS in the IT Department at BT? 😜

Boiledbeetle · 25/11/2022 19:47

It's going to be interesting to see which way they go with the interim and then the new CEO.

Do they choose someone more impartial?

Do they choose a transperson? And if so will they have internal arguments as to wether it's a transman or a transwomen. Should it be someone who knew from the second they were conceived what their gender was or someone who settled in their new gender at 55 after a high flying career in IT? Should it be a trans person who requires a support dog and support human?

Do they go full board the other way and hire Maya or JKR?

It's going to be fascinating watching this in the coming weeks and months.

VestofAbsurdity · 25/11/2022 19:48

In recent months, the charity has found itself under intense public scrutiny, partly as a result of Mermaids’ own decision to launch an appeal against the Charity Commission’s awarding of charitable status to LGB Alliance, which has been critical of “gender ideology’’. It is understood to be the first time one charity has attempted to strip legal status from another.

No shit Sherlock.

PatientZorro · 25/11/2022 19:51

Hahahahahahahahahahaha! Brilliant!

Happylittlechicken · 25/11/2022 19:51

The article in the guardians a bit different from the last one….

StillWeRise · 25/11/2022 19:52

'intense public scrutiny' from.....who exactly? eh? eh?

Boiledbeetle · 25/11/2022 19:52

@Happylittlechicken I presume you have the requisite published online for all to see pornographic photos of you as demiboy grey sexual furry available to any 12 year old with an internet connection who care to search for you. And that you have joined the eunuchs UK chatroom in your known name of chi chi grey fursquiggle

MrsOvertonsWindow · 25/11/2022 19:53

Interesting that the Guardian has even commented - they normally draw a veil over all the safeguarding outrages. And it's Amelia Gentleman who wrote the gentle article about the numbers of girls thinking that they're boys as they hit puberty. So that's 2 articles in the Guardian this week that don't fly the trans flag. Confused

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 25/11/2022 19:54

Bloody hell - what do the Guardian know!! That is a real departure for them.

ResisterRex · 25/11/2022 19:55

This didn't age well

Of course. They’re all on my Instagram under my real name. I’ve also done talks on how medicalising children is the only way to save their souls and that eggs in the ovaries know their gender.
