Well, here we are...

Going to miss having an edit button, though.

And the ability to ignore specific posters, I think a lot of people here would love that one!

Delphinium20 · 26/11/2022 18:59

Welcome! I love a range (sorry, breadth had already been taken) of new feminists voicing their minds. CakeBrewHalloween Smile

Ginmonkeyagain · 26/11/2022 19:30

I see our departure hasn't lanced the boil in the hoped for manner. It's almost like it's a complex and nuanced issue with not settled "right view".

Funny that.

Kucinghitam · 26/11/2022 19:31

Hello more new arrivals!

Ginmonkeyagain · 26/11/2022 19:34

Hello everyone!

Funny that.

But there is no shortage of evidence the pontificators don’t have the slightest interest in the substance of the issue or on the impacts on women’s lives. It doesn’t affect them, so they can adopt the moral high ground entirely cost free.

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 26/11/2022 19:44

Well quite. I've now deleted both of my links so hopefully won't be tempted back into the purity spiral to end all purity spirals.

I think we're well out of there. Is Sparts posting here?

Think Sparts is here.

"Is Sparts posting here?"

<waves>

For probably obvious reasons I have not used the same username here ...

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 26/11/2022 20:01

I think we should intermittently apologise to mumsnet regulars for a few days - we are going to look like a mix of bonkers and insufferably clique-y while we get ourselves gathered and identified, and (frankly) over the shock stage.

BetteGein · 26/11/2022 20:11

Hello from the other side. I'm a lurker not a poster but maybe Mumsnet will change that. I'm glad I can still follow same great posters here and look forward to discovering new ones.

TheMorrigans · 26/11/2022 20:15

Hi all. I’ve just changed my username - I’ve wanted this one for some time!

StephanieSuperpowers · 26/11/2022 20:44

I haven't fully logged out of the other place, I'm kind of fascinated by how hateful they find us. It's weird that our presence and views are so intolerable that some want to ban us even after we've left! Now, I know our views weren't always popular and many people didn't appreciate them, but we didn't seek them out. As per the agreement, we kept to ourselves - you had to seek us out to be offended!

I'm not emotionally invested, but I'm sure it would be interesting for people who study group dynamics.

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 26/11/2022 20:51

I know exactly what you mean Steph. There's a weird fascination seeing that us not existing isn't enough - we must be BURNED IN EFFIGY since we had the effrontery to quietly go away.

Britinme · 26/11/2022 20:52

Woohoo! I'm cleared to post! I mainly lurk, but I learn a lot. I've lurked on Mumsnet for years but finally got around to joining.

Dender · 26/11/2022 20:57

Hello, my quarantine period is over. I’ve been lurking here as well for ages, but this has given me the push to actually register and post. I look forward to continue listening and learning. The old Feminism & sex-based rights threads have been a lifeline of sanity for me, and really forced me to think about issues, rather than simply following the be nice.

I’m really relieved to see so many recognisable names here.

hamburg123 · 26/11/2022 21:06

I’m disgusted with the way you’ve been treated over there. And I’m almost as disgusted with the collective shrug in response to your departure. I hope mumsnet works out for you all as a refuge.

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 26/11/2022 21:09

There was someone who said she (I think it was a she) was affronted to see our thread^^ so prominent all the time on the home page. Given what it was called, that is quite some internalised misogyny. Anyway, I've stopped picking that particular scab.

I don't like the MN software as much, but on the plus side, on my iPad, I can copy and paste without problems.

otraynor · 26/11/2022 21:23

Out of quarantine! I only ever lurked on the original thread, but enjoyed reading it and am saddened by the loss of many of the posters.

Plasticfreefantastic · 26/11/2022 21:35

I have had a look at the reactions to the departures and they are depressing. But also in the main reflect how many people on there have unthinkingly swallowed the Kool Aid and just don’t have any concept of the complexity of intersectionality.

The fact that you just can’t necessarily just #bekind to one person without causing another person genuine hurt or harm is clearly too nuanced.

Winterborne74 · 26/11/2022 21:37

Hi otray, I don’t think we’ve interacted much, but we’ve both been around a long time. Your username reminds me of this namecheck before 9/11. I was very timid in those days, so didn’t post much.

Gonners · 26/11/2022 21:38

Hello, otraynor!

I think we'll get used to the interface quite quickly. I'm struggling a bit and haven't yet worked out how to quote just a section of someone's post - maybe you can't, but more likely I'm just being thick. But it's just different.

dollymixedup · 26/11/2022 21:45

Hey Otraynor:) a pink hello. And GinM and Bint too.

MN feels a bit big for me, I have lurked here off and on but don't think I have posted since pinka was a baby....she's almost 17 now.

The Quote function will quote the entire post and its history.

If you want to quote part of a post, C&P the bit you want and surround it with either two ^ (for italics) or two * (for bold). Or on the web version, there are font format buttons just below the message box, so you can highlight any text you want to format and click the buttons.

NO she's never! That's not allowed.

Pink, I don't know whether to say you're big enough for Mumsnet or that Mumsnet is small enough for all of us, because both feel like insults (!) but do stay, at least for a bit.
