The old place is running with the "a small clique of male bigots" were the problem. Point blank refusing to accept the demand was to, and has resulted in, the exile of large chunk of mostly women posters.

Anyone know what sort of number of members is left there now? The crowd who left must have made a dent in the number left.

I think that the dust is still settling as well. I'm still nominally a poster there, and am very fond of my friends who are staying on.

I haven’t posted much in the last year or two due to the dwindling numbers and what felt like a bit of a hostile environment overall. Lots of snarky, snipey posts that left me disinclined to contribute to discussions. I enjoy mumsnet much more these days.

The last I saw, was a perplexing mutually contradictory set of positions whereby: (1) the Good people should have driven the Bad people away because the discussions themselves and the Bad presence were unacceptable (2) the Bad people were horrible and petty and whatever for just politely leaving instead of staying to discuss things (or being burned at the stake?).

And sometimes both positions from the same posters.

I'm getting the impression this is still the case.

But sometimes you have to do just that. You can't change minds. You can't change what someone believes and they may not even believe it! It may be said just for a wind up or to make them feel better. Sometimes, tough though it is, you have to walk away to preserve your own peace of mind!
