Can someone explain what the registration history means here www.gmc-uk.org/doctors/7404869

Periods of being registered or not registered then relinquished. Did Hartland ever do any doctoring? I'm thinking qualified but never practised. Can you call yourself an Ex NHS doctor in that way?

Also Hartland is registered with companies house for Off The Record Bristol but says resigned as Director but no date given.

@FemaleAndLearning it looks like they did some doctoring, at least enough to keep them on the register, between 2014-2019 and again in 2020 (possibly as part of the call to arms for the Covid response) but nothing since.

I can't understand how they are still styling themself as 'Doctor', unless they have a PhD, which I feel pretty sure would have had a mention.

The hand picture is very much 'look what you made me do'. A position common in..

Quite!

As a menopausal woman, who has tried digging her fingernails into the palms of her hands now and then to prevent tears from overflowing, I’d say that the whole point of fingernail digging is to discreetly prevent yourself from showing emotions that you feel would make you look weak. Digging your nails into some random but very visible body part, then photographing it to post on social media is both manipulative and wholly missing the point about why people use that technique.

Fully paid up RCPsych member here. Following with interest. Would love to know some of the questions and I hope there was a discussion about transwomen on female wards. Bit tricky trying to stop psychiatrists asking questions, it is quite literally our job!

tried to post this earlier but don’t think it worked so sorry if it’s a repeat.

FemaleAndLearning · 24/11/2022 21:52

Thanks Bore that is a good explanation.

Imagine if Weightwatchers had gone the way of Mermaids!

Weightwatchers are now WW - an unfortunate thing when you say it out loud, although I guess they might also be trying to profit from lifetime dependency...?

WhiteFire · 24/11/2022 22:53

I have, as way of an experiment, just stuck my finger nails into the area around the ball of my thumb. With very little pressure and pain I was able to mark my hand, the marks remaining for a good few minutes. A much more uncomfortable sensation is digging the nails into the palm of the hand, but the visual effect of this is a lot less. So more effective in fighting emotions, but more painful and a lot less obvious.

Absolutely!

"So you've posted embarrassing photos of your self-mutilated hand on Twitter after being asked some questions in a professional setting. How does that make you feel?"

haha, i did too and was all "WTF?"

ANewCreation · 25/11/2022 09:50

This appears to be some audio and slides from Hartland's RCPsych presentation. I thought that the Gandalf one had to be a parody, but no...

The wonder now is that there were 'only' 45 ""transphobic"" questions.

Just to type out in full on this thread, for all to see, an extract from one of the slides is:

'Single-sex spaces - transwomen need to be housed in all female wards, this decreases violence towards trans women'

No wonder there were questions.

userlotsanumbers · 25/11/2022 11:04

Thanks to @ANewCreation for posting that thread unroll, very interesting. Interesting to see some of the slides, but alas, still incomprehensible to me as to what the whole 'gender' is all about, my comprehension has not improved by seeing that, sadly.
Good to note that 'a debate feels like hate'; it's still #nodebate there I see. Plus ca change, etc, etc.

Yes, that person's first mistake was to actually talk about it in public, where there was a possibility of questions being asked.

The main tactic that has seen gender ideology succeed so far, is not to allow any questions about it whatsoever.

Brefugee · 25/11/2022 11:10

i went to the original twitter thread so i could get a better understanding of the "tone" and bloody hell. It's astounding. It is just the speaker telling everyone how it must be and no deviation will be countenanced.
shocking anywhere, in an academic setting? more than disturbing

HipTightOnions · 25/11/2022 11:20

The wonder now is that there were 'only' 45 ""transphobic"" questions.

Having seen the slides, I reckon Hartland got off very lightly in only having to deal with "questions".

Thelnebriati · 25/11/2022 11:31

I'm going to post the archived link to that thread, not sure if it will be hidden or not.

There are screenshots? Oooh, I hope we get to see more of them.

Helleofabore · 25/11/2022 11:35

Does anyone know if archive keeps the content if thread reader deletes it?

This almost needs to be kept as screenshots it is so very concerning.... this is someone trying to influence psychiatrists and their treatment plans!!

ScreamingMeMe · 25/11/2022 11:35

Ahhh flip, someone has already posted. Sorry.

Clymene · 25/11/2022 11:41

It may feel like a debate to you but it feels a lot like hate to the people who's lives you're debating

So no questions or challenges are allowed. It's thinking like this which has led to so many young women regretting their transitions.

And I've reproduced the above directly as written. This person has appalling SPAG quite apart from everything else.

I'm horrified that they are employed by Bristol university.

Helleofabore · 25/11/2022 11:45

MsMoorhead · 24/11/2022 12:02

Screenshot directly from the Royal College of Psychiatrists EDI training yesterday.

This slide doesn't match the others that have now been posted.

Was this from another presentation? From another speaker?

Does anyone know?

RoyalCorgi · 25/11/2022 11:48

This person is presenting complete nonsense as if it has some kind of authority or validity, and then expressing outrage when people challenge it. It's like an astrologer giving a presentation to the Royal Society of Astronomers about the effect on your personality of your time of birth coinciding with the moon being in Uranus. Of course there are going to be questions.

DameMaud · 25/11/2022 11:49

I just noticed that too Helle!
