Oh gosh ladies I never thought it would happen (especially as they have constanyly refused to put graham linehsn on the dick of the year despite massive pressure from the trans lobby )but it did.

In what appears to be a new producers anti women statement.

They made the denigration of jk rowling, the promotion of stone wall and complete pasting of the studio with the anti female trans heavy "pride" flag. A supposed response to the world cup being held in quatar a country that has significant human rights abuses and anti gay laws

I feel shaken by it. To see that flag and all it represents for lesbians in this country, for safeguarding and single sex spaces for women, being waved and draped over everyone was deeply sickening,

This program is no longer a friend to women or girls or gay people.

Can they really have not understood how terrible the optics and realities are?
Have they not understood what's just happened between mermaids and LGBA?

Upsetting.

I count too. Also pretty sure I matter and I don't agree with anything JKR says. We are allowed to have different opinions and the presenters on Last Leg are allowed to have opinions too. If you don't like what they say, then don't bother watching next time. No need to get so dramatic.

That's great. Could you point me to the shows with Suffragette colours where women take the piss out of gender extremists?
What channel are they on?

lovelyweathertoday · 20/11/2022 20:28

Watch a few episodes of Triggernometry to see how reluctant comedians are to quest the new orthodoxy. In their second interview of Kellie-Jay Keen they admitted they were terrified of the response when they aired the first. It was fine obviously because they are men.

lovelyweathertoday · 20/11/2022 20:29

I enjoyed it at first but got fed up when they didn't mention JKR. Bunch of cowards.

im sure you would agree with ‘some’ of what shes said on the matter, but i do understand that that you don’t agree with everything

Yup @BiggerBoat1 .

That's the problem. We ALL count. All our opinions should be listened to. You'll note I wasn't responding to the TV show but to spider indicating that having a problem with a show being openly politicised as an opinion not worthy of respect.

lovelyweathertoday · 20/11/2022 20:47

I’m not religious, but I know Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Hindus exist. I just disagree with their beliefs.

This is the crux of the problem. Religious beliefs are allowed to run alongside public life. If we had to say a prayer at work I'd soon become a lot less tolerant.

UWhatNow · 20/11/2022 20:47

“Also pretty sure I matter and I don't agree with anything JKR says.”

That biological women exist? You don’t agree with that? Are you unintelligent or just in denial?

antipodeancanary · 20/11/2022 20:52

Yup also still waiting for someone to say anything that jk Rowling has said that they don't agree with.

Waitwhat23 · 20/11/2022 21:00

Here's JKR's essay for reference if anyone wants to quote directly the parts that are 'transphobic' -

www.jkrowling.com/opinions/j-k-rowling-writes-about-her-reasons-for-speaking-out-on-sex-and-gender-issues/

There's vigils been done and everything. Still no examples given.

senua · 20/11/2022 21:02

The Last Leg used to be about disabilities but got bored of its remit a long time ago. Now it's just three blokes having fun and bantz using Channel 4's money. It's Top Gear Lite.

TLL was on immediately after England won the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup. It took TLL until the end of the programme to get round to mentioning it. (I wasn't watching; DH was). You'd think that it would be top of the bill. OK, there must be some time lag in the 'live' broadcast but not 45 minutes!

Can't comment about the rest because I wasn't watching. I don't watch because it was obvious several seasons back that they are Team Koolaid.

AlisonDonut · 20/11/2022 21:03

Does anyone have any idea what it is that JKR actually said that was so upsetting?

Oujiawoowoo · 20/11/2022 21:10

Id like to know too! Does anyone know why she is so hated by the trans community and it’s followers? I’m absolutely stumped.

I felt the same and turned it off after they disparaged JKR. It made me realise that even when they talk about stability, it’s usually only disabled men that gets mentioned. It was lovely to see Rose Ellis on there but the Stonewall thing is a big red flag for me.
I barely watch any Channel 4 now. They’re the Guardian of terrestrial telly for me.

Agree. I used to pretty much only watch C4, but now I avoid it like the plague.

waterwitch · 20/11/2022 21:18

@BiggerBoat1 is going to tell us what JKR said which is so awful - unless of course, like so many people who find JKR ‘problematic’ they actually haven’t read her essay, and have no idea what they’re talking about

This. I used to love Channel 4 bit I agree they are less and less enjoyable to watch.

candywoo · 20/11/2022 21:37

Well done to JKR for speaking up, she's done nothing wrong. Worlds gone mad.

Onnabugeisha · 20/11/2022 22:18

so blind to that the fact that 'you want trans people not to exist' is now being used as a propaganda statement

Is it though? I watched Kellie Jay Keen in Cardiff yesterday and she said
“There’s no such thing as a transwoman. Transwomen are men. There’s no such thing as a transman. Transmen are women.” to cheers and applause….

And at this and every Stand Up for Women event there’s invariably the chant of “Transwomen are men” on repeat.

If that’s not a statement indicating that gender critical women either a) believe that transpeople do not exist or b) don’t want them to exist, I don’t know what would be more glaringly obvious?

That's asking for accurate labelling not saying you don't want the actual people to actually exist. Quite different.

Babdoc · 20/11/2022 22:29

But of course transwomen are men, Onnabugeisha! They wouldn’t be trans if they were actually women, surely that’s obvious? They are men who either have gender dysphoria, wish they could be women, or have a sexual fetish such as AGP.
Nobody here is denying that such men exist. We merely state the scientific fact that they are men.

senua · 20/11/2022 22:31

By that logic, if I say an apple is not a pear then, apparently, it means that I think apples don't exist.Confused

redbigbananafeet · 20/11/2022 22:33

Theeyeballsinthesky · 20/11/2022 15:19

Trans ppl clearly exist as they occupy mass in time & space

I’ve no problem with trans women existing

they’re not women though they’re men so they don’t get to claim rights & spaces that are for women

But the presence of the trans flag doesn't necessarily have all the negative connotations

bellinisurge · 20/11/2022 22:37

Transwomen are transwomen. Not quite sure how that means I deny their existence.
