A transgender person, Male to female is psychologically female and will identify as female. If they were transvestite that would of course be a different matter

I don't understand. Can you explain further?

Isn't Derry where all the weird shit starts in Stephen King books? Hmmm.

Yes but that Derry is fictional!

What do you mean by "psychologically female" @Longbarn5? Can you explain this?

And the difference between this and "transvestite" would be ever so helpful as well.
Thanks

Why is it different?

Taswama · 11/11/2022 19:10

I don't like objectification but I like a man taking a scholarship place away from a woman even less.

What does psychologically female mean? Female refers to sex.

What does psychologically female mean? Female refers to sex.

If someone has female genitalia it doesnt necessarily mean they identify as female in gender and vice versa. They may identify as Male or other choices but this is all very complex so i wont start on that here. We all have opinions on these things I guess

mrshoho · 11/11/2022 19:22

For fucks sake! What an absolute farce. Feel sorry for the other contestants who stood no bloody chance. How they can stand and smile with the winner I don't get. Do the judges really believe this person was a worthy winner?

But you said it's not the same as transvestism?

How so?

It's 'all a bit complex' is a a bit of a cop out when you seemed so sure of yourself in your first post.

lifeturnsonadime · 11/11/2022 19:27

Why are mumsnet deleting posts about transvestites coming under the trans umbrella. That's what Stonewall says?

lifeturnsonadime · 11/11/2022 19:29

www.stonewall.org.uk/list-lgbtq-terms

Trans people may describe themselves using one or more of a wide variety of terms, including (but not limited to) transgender, transsexual, gender-queer (GQ), gender-fluid, non-binary, gender-variant, crossdresser, genderless, agender, nongender, third gender, bi-gender, trans man, trans woman, trans masculine, trans feminine and neutrois.

Crossdresser comes under trans umbrella.

Maybe report your post and ask them lifeturnsonadime ?
It's always worth noting which threads are relentlessly targeted for reporting - and they're often those that demonstrate the glorious inconsistencies Grin

Wellies54 · 11/11/2022 19:44

@Longbarn5
It is possible to define how someone is biologically female.
Please can you define how someone can be 'psychologically female'? How can this be measured?
Perhaps you also have an understanding of what it means to 'live as a woman ' which you could explain. So far no one has attempted to explain so I'm curious to find out.

Nobody can identify as female in gender, because female refers to sex, as does male. Sex is based on biology. Gender is a societal concept that has traditionally mapped to sex.

Anyway, you still haven't answered my question - what does psychologically female mean?

lifeturnsonadime · 11/11/2022 19:55

So apparently not all transvestites identify as trans hence the earlier deletion. Apologies @Longbarn5 .

However the ones that do, like Pip Bunce and a certain celebrity, must be treated as women on the days they are dressed as women otherwise women are transphobes.

So the male gets to control the narrative.

So Longbarn5 are these trans women physiologically women on the days they are in 'girl mode'? I really want to try to understand what you mean.

agent765 · 11/11/2022 19:57

I'd love to put a few questions to the judges. What the hell were you thinking being foremost in my mind? Were you that desperate for publicity? Do you really believe in unicorns?

I feel for those girls. They believe that smiling and pretending to be happy that Brian won is the gracious and 'feminine' way to behave. That or there's a more sinister reason behind the pained smiles.

Either way, it boils down to patriarchy at its finest. Shut up and put up, girls.

Don’t worry about it seeming complex - I would like to understand. I often hear that it’s complicated or complex but nobody seems to want to explain further. Can you try, please?

Classic bit of men are better than women at everything. Including being pretty ladies!

Obviously beauty pageants are a bit grim, but I think a scholarship was on the line here?

Yes, that phrase ‘men are better at everything than women, even being women’ echoes in my mind every time I read stuff like this.

Ne'er has the saying 'beauty is in the eye of the judge beholder' been so true...I wonder if he's found his glasses yet.
