Gender affirming haircuts

It's Trans Awareness Week and I've just received a work email advertising these for free. 🙄

I could do with a haircut - do you think I could go and say that I identify as a woman and need my femenine gender affirmed?

I commented on a thread recently where a woman was apprehensive about going to a barber's for a haircut. Not because she's trans etc but because it's cheaper. I said my MiL has a good barber's who crops her hair with clippers for £5 on OAP day. The OP got it done and was happy with the results, after we all encouraged her.

There is no such thing as a gender affirming haircut. Its a haircut.

I saw a hairdresser's price list this weekend offering different prices for a woman's cut, a non-binary cut, and a man's cut. What does that even mean? What is a non-binary hair cut? Is it a matter of time? Or complexity?

Wtf is a gender affirming haircut? I shaved my head recently but it didn't make me feel like a man? Anyone can have any haircut they wish to have. How daft.

Is the women's cut still more expensive than the men's?

I've just checked online in case I imagined it and the actual term used is 'non gender hair cut.' A 'non gender hair cut short' is £3 more expensive than a bloke's cut, but £16 cheaper than a lady's cut, while a 'non gender hair cut long' is... the same price as a lady's cut.

Just typed it into Google and my exact haircut is on there. I hate myself.

Interesting. So if I wanted to get a Grade 3 there I should tell them I’m a bloke & it would be cheaper.

This is interesting! I deffo want the cheaper/ gender affirming/ blokey/ non binary do. I'm off to Google and see if my hair is there...

They'd be better off saying

Simple clipper cut - nothing fancy £X
Short cut with additional styling £
Trim any length £
etc

Remove any talk of gender from the price list at all.

As I suspected, my do is on Google as gender affirming cos I have short hair and am a woman, but am also still cool ( or at least my hair is )
I knew it would just be nice short hair 🤷‍♀️

Did no-one ever tell them, as small children, that girls and women can in fact have short hair, and men and boys long hair?

Are we to believe that Bill Bailey, Keanu Reeves, Bob Marley, Jesus, Beethoven and Plato are or were in fact women, and that Judi Dench, Halle Berry, Audrey Hepburn, Princess Diana, Keira Knightley and Julie Andrew's are or were men?

The blinkered, obedient narrow mindedness is just astounding, in this day and age.

Is it cheaper? If so I'm definitely identifying as NB. Come to think of it if the man's cut is cheaper I'm a man. Even if I still want a shoulder length bob. Can't deny feelz now, can we.
