And International Trade Secretary. I'd have preferred to see her as Secretary of State for Education in addition to Minister for Women and Equalities, but this is good news.

Now do you agree you want to stop trans women entering women's loos?

I want to stop men entering womens and girls spaces. You keep reframing it to force people to see it from your pov. We don’t. They’re male. We have the legal rights to stop them if we wish.

Exactly.

The whole "tradition", and I'm calling it that because that's what it is, of men who start a transition to the thing that is described as "living as a woman" using women's facilities comes from the medical professional telling them to do this. The act of dressing and entering a woman's place IS the transition and "gender" doctors would expect men to develop this practice.

These doctors obviously were not the slightest bit interested in what the women thought about their "prescription" and that is reflective of the sexism inherent in the whole process.

Sexist gender doctors decided men should use women's facilities. There is no law.

The fact that this still continues is straight forward prejudice against women.

In order to answer this question you will need to clearly state what you mean by 'transwoman'. Do you mean someone who has had full SRS, or any male who says he identifies as a woman, or something in between?

If we are talking about law and policy, you need to be crystal clear about which people we are discussing.

nilsmousehammer · 27/10/2022 11:32

Wrong button hit, sorry. Have reported my post to HQ.

“Now answer my question”

who do you think you are, chum 🤣

Nobody is answering your silly question because it frames the debate in a spurious way. It’s a non question. It’s not a gotcha.

I will answer yours after you answer mine...

Do you believe that men who claim a trans woman identity but are not trans should be able to enter women's toilets, or do no such people exist?

Define ‘trans woman’ define ‘woman’?

I want ALL males out of spaces designated for females. They have no right to be there.

I want men to use the men's toilets.

I fully support the right of any man who has changed sex to use the women;s toilets.

It's really not a gotcha.

Trans women currently use women's toilets. Most GC people I interact with are perfectly happy to say they don't want trans women in women's toilets. Forstater, for example, is quite open about it. I'm frankly amazed no one is willing to say that trans women should be banned from women's loos - if that's not the case, I'd like to know.

The argument tends to go like this "trans women are men, men should not enter women's toilets, therefore trans women should not enter women's toilets." I didn't think this was remotely contentious.

This is why, I thought, you were supporting Badenoch despite her views on abortion and gay marriage.

It's impossible to answer your question without you clarifying what you mean by 'transwoman', because we don't knownwhich demographic of society you are specifically referring to?

YouSirNeighMmmm · 27/10/2022 11:41

Why can't you give us a simple, stable definition of a trans woman if you want us to talk about what rights this group of men should have?

WahineToa · 27/10/2022 11:43

despite her views on abortion

No. once again you’re twisting. Her vote on Buffer zones. Not abortions.

I'm not. I stated in the first comment what her views were. She voted against buffer zones and has mainly abstained on abortion issues.

If you think you already know, then why are you asking?

I have never said I “support” Kemi. Are you able to understand nuance, at all, or does everything have to be black and white, for or against, in your world? The world doesn’t divide into “goodies and baddies”, though it does reliably divide into people who want to have an honest conversation and people who don’t, I find.

I’m generally not much in favour of “banning” things, which is why your silly question doesn’t work for me on yet another level than the one already pointed out by so man6 women here, that we simply don’t know what number and kind of males are to be gathered in under the title “transwoman”. So I’m not going to wang on bout “banning” anything. I want to protect women and girls, and part of that is the rigorous defence of single sex spaces. I’m not reframing my worldview into yours and making gender the differentiator, because it just.doesn’t.work.

And that, frankly, is far more care and attention than your derailing merits.

@DadJoke you’ve already had a deletion for the same question. Stop.

WahineToa · 27/10/2022 11:51

The answers are here, plenty of them. The question is answered. Stop repeating it.

Back to Kemi. I’m pleased to see a black woman as minister of women’s and equalities, because representation matters and on the issues of most concern to me she has the same view as I do.

Abortions are not under threat here. It’s not an issue to concern myself with.

I think that people of the male sex should not be in female toilets, because they are......female toilets. Is this really so difficult to understand?

If everyone knew that everyone was using the toilet of their own sex, then nobody would be having to eyeball anyone, wondering about their genitals or anything.

TheClogLady · 27/10/2022 11:53

Not if they were initially erroneously observed male at birth due to a DSD and further tests proved they are in fact, genetically female.

No males in female spaces. None.
It’s very simple, and it includes spaces for girls, aka minor human females and not just spaces for adult human females.

MangyInseam · 27/10/2022 11:55

beastlyslumber · 27/10/2022 10:20

I had no idea if that, Beastly. If possible please do you have a link based on the proportion of the population? (Not questioning you, just interested.)

Cloglady above has some good links. I got this information from Glen Loury and John McWhorter's podcast. Also Coleman Hughes is another good source of information.

Is that not just because there are more white people in America though? What are the statistics on a population percentage level? (Genuine question).

There are more white people, indeed. However, black people are way more likely to have an interaction with the police than white people are, so you need that number too.

The numbers, when you crunch them, say black Americans are slightly less likely to be killed by the police than whites, proportionately.

They are somewhat more likely to have a negative interaction, even taking account of offenses.

They are much more likely to be both perpetrators and victims in violent crime.

The people most likely to have interactions with the police, and be killed by the police, are people in poor neighbourhoods, whatever their race. A poor white person is much more likely to be a target than a well-off black person.

TheClogLady · 27/10/2022 11:55

Don’t be silly, DadJoke, men aren’t clownfish!
