I hate to criticise women's aid, but fucking hell, they weren't duped or manipulated, they choose not to use the exemptions provided by the EA. If they can be manipulated in this way their safeguarding systems and / or safeguarding systems in general are not fit for purpose.

I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts and the pattern of behaviour and punishment for child sex predators is devastatingly predictable. They're never taken seriously when they are young and their offences are viewed as "minor", the court always believes their history of a difficult childhood is relevant to their actions and that they can be rehabilitated. Sadly there are far too many dead children and traumatised survivors for me to understand why the courts give these predators the benefit of the doubt.

We should not show leniency to predators who have been abused as minors themselves, not because they are responsible and need to be punished for their own trauma but because by the time that trauma has manifested in harming others we have set the stage for a vicious cycle that never ends. We need to ensure that however the courts deal with these offenders one of the most important things we do is to make sure they are prevented from accessing children by whatever restrictions necessary.

I'm sick of hearing about tragedy. It's not a fucking tragedy if it was predictable and preventable; it's negligence and stupidity.

100%, and we have politicians on record telling us that this never happens, is in fact impossible.

Women and girls have been traumatised by Dolatowski as a direct result of the erosion of boundaries caused by genderism, and the pretence that males are able to become females and identify out of male behaviours.

It's quite sad that this could be a solution. Refuge spaces for transmen and transwomen survivors of domestic violence- it just needs to be a separate space physically from other survivors, particularly vulnerable women and children.

To be fair to Women's Aid, those that have tried to maintain single sex spaces have risked being defunded.

I believe NIA maintain a single sex refuge.

I know that several specific Women's Aid refuges lost funding to 'gender neutral' service providers.

Some of whom happened to be funded by Sacro. Mridhul Wadhwa's husband is on the board of Sacro. Mridhul is of course the male who runs Rape Crisis Edinburgh.

One of the women said she saw Dolatowski hanging around the prams - so definitely able to access at least some of the same areas as women.

On 9th September 2022, a resident at the Leeds Domestic Violence Service (LDVS) refuge run by Leeds Women’s Aid (LWA) was taken into police custody. The individual had used an identity, and related official documents in the same name, to access the refuge, and in doing so they concealed their previous convictions for child sex offences.

Once the person’s true identity and crimes were revealed, we alerted the police and the individual was taken into custody. At no time were we aware of their previous identity or crimes.

LWA is taking this extremely seriously and we are undertaking a thorough investigation. We have not found evidence of any crimes having been committed during the period when the person was resident with us.

LWA has been an established and highly regarded service for the last 50 years. The safety of service users and staff is paramount and the appropriate support is being put in place. LWA’s priority remains victims-survivors, and we want all survivors to be able to access the support they need when accessing domestic abuse services.

Nik Peasgood, Chief Executive of LWA, said, “We are appalled that someone with such crimes could come to a women’s refuge using a different identity. We are aware that a criminal using authenticated identification could access any housing provider’s services, and we are not unique in being manipulated in this way.

We have informed children’s services and are working with our closest stakeholders, including Leeds City Council and Women’s Aid Federation England, and will share any learning with our sector in order to improve safety of victims-survivors.”
