Jean Hatchett article on Eddy Izzard attending a Labour Sheffield fundraiser, uses women's toilets, run up to his election as a candidate, uses women's toilets while there.

I saw something on Twitter about this.

Didn't Julie Bindel + a friend photograph Izzard in the bathroom(or entering/exiting it)? If a man or transperson had photographed someone in a bathroom there would be world war 3.

The only women who actually had any objection to Izzard's use of the facilities were Julie+friend, no other women objected in the bathroom or outside of it.

That means Julie Bindel is doing something herself transwomen are often accused of, and it suggests that the "transwomen offend women in women's bathrooms" may not be a view that is shared amongst most women.

JacquelineCarlyle · 03/10/2022 12:42

@MargaritaPie or it could be that ordinary women are too afraid to speak up as they've seen the venom and vitriol spewed at any woman who dares to fight for our right to single sex based spaces.

According to an account on Twitter Julie actually shouted and had a go at a large group of women because they weren't having a go at EI.

In this scenario the only aggression and vitriol came from Julie. Everyone else seemed to be just getting on with their day.

JacquelineCarlyle · 03/10/2022 12:51

I can only speak for myself @MargaritaPie but I know I wouldn't have said anything despite feeling very upset and triggered by him being there.

I can imagine Julie B was feeling frustrated that no one is standing beside her in the fight for all our rights and had I been there, I would have agreed with Julie and felt ashamed at myself for not being brave enough to speak up, as I would have still kept quiet, despite agreeing with her wholeheartedly.

Eddie is quite a hefty chap isn't he (tall and broad). I don't think I'd be complaining too loudly if I saw an obvious male that size using the ladies. Do you think that women who are uncomfortable sharing facilities with men are always going to complain when sharing is forced upon them?

TheClogLady · 03/10/2022 12:53

Can’t you just RTFT rather than going back to the same nonsense that’s already been debunked, Marge!

we aren’t here to answer your individual questions - educate yourself!

Margarita is mistaken. Jean didn’t move from her seat in the hall or photograph anyone in a bathroom.

She just photographed Izzard re-entering the hall through a door clearly signposted Ladies. A public figure at a public event in a public hall.

Of course sue is lying like the lot of them across Twitter.

I've got to ask though ,why the need to lie if you are on the 'right' side of history?

Johnnysgirl · 03/10/2022 13:20

Margarita is mistaken
You could type that after everything @MargaritaPie posts, without even bothering to read it, and you'd be right every time.
Although "mistaken" isn't quite the word I'd use.

ReneBumsWombats · 03/10/2022 13:22

More creepy gaslighting. Men in the ladies' is fine, woman protests and she's the aggressor.

I think these...people don't realise how boring it is by now. It's impossible to be cowed or frightened or coerced when you're just fucking bored.

TheClogLady · 03/10/2022 13:24

It does rather put one in mind of standing around waiting for a toddler to wear himself out stropping on the floor of Tesco, so that the grown ups can get on with the actual shopping.

Treaclemine · 03/10/2022 13:27

I have realised what Eddie's behaviour, and of course, India Willougby's and her friend's reminded me of. The fifteen year old boys (they may have been 14, but give the benefit of the doubt) at the church youth club the week the minister didn't turn up. Invading the loo where I had retreated from their nastiness. (I was the only girl there that week). The following week the minister stuck of for them and said it was my fault and I had a dirty mind. I don't know what happened after that. I resigned. They could make their tea themselves. Anyway, the sniggers and the smirking are so familiar.
Do you suppose these people might try as identifying as grown-ups?

Treaclemine · 03/10/2022 13:28

stuck up for them

applesandpears33 · 03/10/2022 13:29

@ReneBumsWombats It does seem to be a rather well worn tactic doesn't it - trying to turn the person complaining into an aggressor.

Deliriumoftheendless · 03/10/2022 13:33

Oh Marg- you’re repeating unfounded accusations you’ve seen on Twitter.

remember “innocent until proved guilty?”

they were your words.

MargaritaPie · 03/10/2022 13:36

"Eddie is quite a hefty chap isn't he (tall and broad)"

Ever been to Amsterdam?

Handsoffmyrights · 03/10/2022 13:43

'The only women who actually had any objection to Izzard's use of the facilities were Julie+friend, no other women objected in the bathroom or outside of it.'

Seriously? Women are afraid to speak out. As PP points out EI is a big person, a famous figure. This can be intimidating.

I know when I (5ft) was in a toilet and came out to see a hulking 6ft man stood there, I was floored. And scared.

You can read the room on here and in society.
We object.

When I spoke to lots of women in my big home city about the GRA and about the issue of men using women's facilities/spaces, every woman objected.

Yous and the TRAs' gaslighting is incredulous.

ImherewithBoudica · 03/10/2022 13:48

'In my reality no women mind about males of all identities in their loos'

And in that same reality people can change sex, surgically sterilising and harming children with drugs is a good thing, and mentioning facts is 'hate'.

That's not my reality. It's not the reality of many women. The answer is no.

Any women dying to share bathrooms with males, go campaign for third spaces and use them to your hearts' content. Please do. No one's stopping you. The issue is not excluding females from female spaces so that male people can have all the spaces and choices. That would be male supremacist, exclusionary and prejudiced against women.

TheBiologyStupid · 03/10/2022 13:52

Spiked write:

Female privacy, biological truth, even the sense of safety of girls – all now play a very distant second fiddle to the right of men to say ‘I’m a lady’ and to be treated as such. Mr Izzard’s right to feel like a woman takes precedence over real women’s right to live freely and privately. This is the trans ideology summed up – everything, the entire physical, social and scientific world, must be sacrificed to the therapeutic needs of men who think they’re women. Sure, drunk blokes of old knew a woman’s bathroom was a no-go zone – but today’s blokes drunk on their own narcissistic and lunatic vision of themselves as ‘women’ recognise no such physical boundaries. How dare a social norm interfere with my gender expression?

You seem to have used the word "object" with two different meanings in one sentence. Odd that. It's almost as if you were the sort of person who likes to distort things. Surely not?

For the first part you seem to be meaning it more broadly, then for the latter, you seem to be using it to mean "directly challenged Eddie".

Because of course Julie didn't directly challenge Eddie either. And if Julie Bindel doesn't feel capable of directly challenging Eddie while objecting, what hope does the average woman have?

MargaritaPie · 03/10/2022 13:55

"Women are afraid to speak out"

How do you know? Have you asked every woman in the country? Why do you think you speak for most women?

NecessaryScene · 03/10/2022 13:59

Not very good at parsing English, are you Marg?

I can safely say "Marg talks nonsense" without having read every single one of your posts. A non-zero amount of nonsense posts is sufficient to make that statement true.

I'm not saying you always speak nonsense, or mostly speak nonsense, but you certainly speak nonsense.

Anyway, I thought vulnerable minorities were important. Do they have to be a majority for you to give a shit?

ReneBumsWombats · 03/10/2022 14:01

As a younger woman, I was often followed and pestered on the street, and sometimes the only way I could shake them off was to find a ladies' room and hide in it. The gaslighting creeps on this thread will tell me those men could have come in anyway. Yes, but they didn't. Because social expectation is a thing (indeed, the gaslighting creeps have no trouble with the concept when it comes to coercing women to believe males are women). They knew that if they came in, the weight of that social expectation would give me and the other women the right to challenge them, and they'd have no support. It matters. It is often the only protection we have. You know it. That's why you try so hard to discredit it.

But now, they could simply claim they are women at the door. And if the creeps have their way, I'd be the aggressor, the pervert with a toilet obsession, the freak who wants to check everyone's genitals because there's no other way I could guess that the hulking, bass-voiced, stubbly meathead who's been following me for ten minutes talking about licking pussy is a bloke.

Oh, and yes, I've been to Amsterdam. Do you think the clients looking to purchase services in the red light district are expected not to know what a woman is?
