Sussex Police claim gc views are 'hate' when women call a paedophile a man

Extraordinary exchange on Twitter.

'This is a man, committing sexual offences against children'

'Hi, Sussex Police do not tolerate any hateful comments towards their gender identity regardless of crimes committed. This is irrelevant to the crime that has been committed and investigated. Sussex Police'

'Sussex Police, I am exercising my gender critical views, which are protected in law. Can you advise whether making such statements is a crime?'

'Hi, you can familiarise yourself with what is regarding as hate on our website here: orlo.uk/k3sOL. If you have gender critical views you wish to express this can be done on other platforms or your own page, not targeted at an individual. Sussex Police'

Does not having a GRC mean still male bodied?

No it means that legally the person is a man. The GRC is a legal fiction that enables a person to be named as the opposite sex in law.

It has nothing to do with bodies, a person with a GRC doesn't have to modify their body in anyway. Very few males who identify as trans have surgery to remove their penis.

nuttynotty · 27/09/2022 17:39

So if you were sexually abused by your father you have to tell the police that you were sexually abused by your mother?

Helleofabore · 27/09/2022 15:07

So, will all those replying to the tweets be visited for being 'untoward towards paedophiles'?

Only if female.

Theluggage15 · 27/09/2022 17:40

Yes I would prefer something stronger from Braverman. She doesn’t need to mince her words here.

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/09/2022 17:41

All right, to whom can we appeal to have this person serve their sentence in a male prison?

DameMaud · 27/09/2022 17:41

YouSirNeighMmmm · 27/09/2022 17:38

If you had a male relative who lost their penis in a motorcycle accident (don't google this), would you tell them they are a woman, or would you reassure them that you still regarded them as 100% man?

Not arguing! I'm trying to explain to a dubious friend why it's 'a very bad thing' and they picked up on the fact it said he had 'transitioned' so want to get clear

I would like to know this too.

Enough of this shit.

lifeturnsonadime · 27/09/2022 17:42

I don't think Braverman's response goes anywhere near far enough.

She needed to confirm that correctly sexing this person is not a hate crime.
She needed to confirm that this person will go into a male prison.

‘Transition’ can be as little as picking a new name and telling your utilities company the new one.

Yes, so I'm curious on what basis the police report him as a woman (as we don't have self I'd ..yet,) and on what basis, legally, for housing in the female estate.

There is no legal basis, this is a massive overreach.

This is why Braverman should step in now.

Otherwise the Conservative Party is as implicit in this as anyone else.

lifeturnsonadime · 27/09/2022 17:57

complicit!

I’m wondering if we should try this mechanism, which is really about too-lenient sentences, but I don’t think there is an equivalent for where they’ve been sent?

Case was heard at Lewes Crown Court

Suella Braverman has tweeted (don’t know how to link)

‘Sussex Police have done well to put a dangerous criminal behind bars. But they’ve got it wrong by playing identity politics and denying biology. Focus on catching criminals not policing pronouns’

Brilliant. SB making a mealy mouthed statement that means nothing except that the Tories aren't fixing this.Hmm

LizzieSiddal · 27/09/2022 18:10

I want to know who the heck is in charge of this Twitter account. If this was said face to face we would have a right to know which police officer spoke such nonsense!

Clymene · 27/09/2022 18:11

Michael Ellis is the Attorney General now. Might be worth contacting.

Braverman is a snake

ImherewithBoudica · 27/09/2022 18:21

This male has no GRC. Why are they being indulged in their personal choice of identity to nurture their little feelings and female prisoners being used as non consenting props? How do the females identify out of this mess?

Wtaf is this mess? Who voted for this? Lets have a referendum on this shit and get it established, do the public consent to this or not.

zen1 · 27/09/2022 18:22

I would’ve expected more of Braverman after the speech she gave a few weeks ago. Actions not words.

waterwitch · 27/09/2022 18:25

I’m worried the female prisoners (and their children) will be used as more than non-consenting props - bad as that is

drhf · 27/09/2022 18:46

The Sussex Police social media team seem to have taken that Ricky Gervais bit as an instruction manual.

As female prisoners already have been by other male prisoners given this opportunity you mean?

No one cares. The females went to court about it and no one cared.

Apparently male prisoners get what they want and female prisoners get to be used and harmed in the process, and yet we're threatened for pointing out that 'identifying as female' makes absolutely no difference in the bleeding obvious fact that male people get whatever they want and female people just get to be used.

They are not women. If they were, no one would care what they felt or what their deeply held inner beliefs were, or even if they were physically safe. Women don't get this privilege. I'm not pretending word tricks to hide this very very ugly reality.

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 27/09/2022 19:26

I imagine abusive misogynistic men all over the world are delighted at the opportunity to blame male crimes on women.

PomegranateOfPersephone · 27/09/2022 19:33

It seems the Tweets have all been deleted?

ImherewithBoudica · 27/09/2022 19:35

I'm not surprised they've been deleted.

Loads of people have screenshots however, and it will have been archived. It was visible on the twitter thread too that it had been shared to all kinds of interesting people to show them what taxpayers are paying for.

MangyInseam · 27/09/2022 19:39

Who actually is empowered to make something happen with this, seems to me the most immediate question.
