Sussex Police claim gc views are 'hate' when women call a paedophile a man

Extraordinary exchange on Twitter.

'This is a man, committing sexual offences against children'

'Hi, Sussex Police do not tolerate any hateful comments towards their gender identity regardless of crimes committed. This is irrelevant to the crime that has been committed and investigated. Sussex Police'

'Sussex Police, I am exercising my gender critical views, which are protected in law. Can you advise whether making such statements is a crime?'

'Hi, you can familiarise yourself with what is regarding as hate on our website here: orlo.uk/k3sOL. If you have gender critical views you wish to express this can be done on other platforms or your own page, not targeted at an individual. Sussex Police'

I saw a letter somewhere (though this was from 2018, I believe) from the government in response to a FOI request it was revealed that there were 0 trans identified female prisoners in UK male prisons. Whether it was their choice and wants to do their sentence in a female prison or the court refusing any requests made, I don't know.

For a start, the number of female prisoners is many orders of magnitude smaller than the number of males.

So there will be very few trans identified females in prison to start with.

I believe there is one in Scotland in a man's prison.

All right, to whom can we appeal to have this person serve their sentence in a male prison?

The MoJ effectively said they could do nothing to change the policy, iirc.

All these politicians, all so fucking helpless in the face of their own cock-ups.

I feel physically sick. In this country? How can we treat women and children like this? Would there be any point in writing to my MP I wonder when my constituency is not connected to the case or the prison…

Every little helps.

Looks like the grown ups are back in charge.

Well that's not fucking good enough either..

What a non - apology.

Firstly he is a man. He has been sentenced as a woman. On whose watch and under which laws?

Secondly we 'recognise the right for people (women) to express themselves within the boundaries of the law'? Which law ? The same one that has put a man, , a pedophile, in the same prison as women and children?

I suppose as far as safety of the female prisoners we need to ask whether this person is actually mixed in with the population at all, or housed totally separately? Does anyone know?

Iirc a few years ago the government abounded they were building a completely separate wing to house Trans identifying males, although it was in the grounds of a woman’s prison.

ImherewithBoudica · 27/09/2022 21:16

The wing was, if I remember, intended for male prisoners who would not pass the risk assessment to be in female facilities, to 'compromise' between their wish to be on female premises with some contact and the safety of the female prisoners.

The male prisoners and their lawyers kicked off about segregation and discrimination. The male prisoners got housed as they wanted and the needs of the female prisoners were as usual subordinated. The wing has since been used for other things.

This is the problem. No compromise or care by these males will ever be allowed: removing all boundaries and consent from females is not a bug, it's a feature. Which is why fuck this, no males, ever, under any circumstances, The End.

IStandWithMaya · 27/09/2022 21:16

Please continue to make a fuss about this, everyone.

Yes, it's definitely worth emailing MPs.

TheClogLady · 27/09/2022 21:19

The trans wing is at HMP Downview in Surrey.

www.prisonphone.co.uk/blog/hmp-downview-the-first-prison-with-a-wing-dedicated-to-transgender-inmates/

HMP Littlehey has a specialist sex offender unit with loads of MTF prisoners so it’s obviously perfectly doable to keep them in the male estate.

(although I accept that prisoners should be held as close to home as possible, there must be somewhere in the male estate that could take this person - maybe the system is overrun with sex offenders? I did a lazy Google earlier ‘paedophile sussex’ to check which crown court this one was tried at and there were an absolute eyepopping number of results)

Still not ok to stick this pervert in the female estate though!

Redshoeblueshoe · 27/09/2022 21:42

Bore - Baroness Nicholson is already on it.

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/09/2022 21:47

Thanks redshoe. That's good to hear.

FemaleAndLearning · 27/09/2022 22:13

What the fuck is that apology? What the fuck is 'living as a man'?
He is a man, was a man and will always be a man.
I'm so angry.
The police are just passing the buck like a child 'we were only reporting it as it was reported'. This is so dispicsble the poor victims what a kick in the teeth and what a threat to those women and teenage girls in prison. Why are judges and courts reported this man as a woman? We don't have self ID.

Did they specify what "policy" they can't change?

TooBigForMyBoots · 27/09/2022 22:26

AspireMe · 27/09/2022 20:20

Yes, you have it right and I'm pretty sure it's not the first time it's happened either.

It's definitely not the first time. Women inmates have been sexually assaulted by men put into women's prisons.

Clymene · 27/09/2022 22:29

This guy is not being held at Downview. He's in Bronzefield, a women's prison with a young offenders unit and a mother and baby unit.

Many many female prisoners have a history of CSA. They are literally locking them up with one of their abusers.

woke fuckery overload moment.

Absolutely.

Enough people have tagged Suella Braverman in those responses. Surely she could step in to ensure he doesn’t serve in the women’s estate.

I certainly hope so.

It's vile.

I want to know on what legal basis they are incarcerating this man in this unit.

He is not either legally or factually 'a woman'. We have GRC in this country, not that I approve of it, but even so, he doesn't have one.

How has self ID been introduced to allow a pedophile access to women and children without a vote or an act of parliament in a democratic country.?

Who is responsible for this protection of a pedophile at the expense of the safety and dignity of women?

Well it’s a bit better, but still weasel words:

which heard that, at the time of the offences, Dixon was living as a man, John Stephen Dixon

’living as a man’? Dixon was, and still is, a man.

Yes, quite. And even if he had not been “living as a man” at the time of committing the crimes, the crimes would still have been the crimes of a male being..

The most recent information I can find - 'Ms Brookes said of the three transgender men in custody – women identifying as men – two were accommodated in the men’s estate and one within the women’s estate'.

Though from the same article -

'She pointed out Scotland’s prison population constantly fluctuates and stressed any information gathered was only accurate at the point it is obtained from the prison records system.'

pomegranite it is not worth writing to quite a number of MPs, Alex Sobel, Angela Rayner being just two who are not prepared to stand up for women.

FOJN · 27/09/2022 23:38

Prisons fall under the remit of Ministry of Justice. The current Secretary of State for Justice is Brandon Lewis, MP for Great Yarmouth.

Contact details below for anyone who feels like letting them know what we think of the appalling decision to house a convicted male sex offender in the female prison estate.
