Just reading/watching about the tragic death of Mahsa Amini following her arrest for incorrectly wearing the hijab. These women are so incredibly brave.

"Anti-government protests are taking place across Iran following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini on 16 September. Amini was detained in Tehran by a paramilitary unit that enforces Islamic dress codes after she reportedly didn’t wear the hijab correctly. She fell into a coma under unknown circumstances while in custody and later died, prompting outrage at religious police and security forces. However, despite its scale, analysts and diplomats are doubtful that the protests will lead to any significant change."

Will do, Fastfad. Thinking of all the women of Iran, and the girls.

@ AlinejadMasih

Today teachers have taken to streets across Iran outside the city's Education Dept to protest chemical attacks targeting schoolgirls.
Many Iranians believe that these attacks are deliberate.
"Secure schools is our right!"
This slogan was heard.

@ AlinejadMasih

Iranian authorities are after these girls to arrest them for the crime of dancing in international women’s day. In the eyes of Islamic republic, these girls are master criminals for showing their hair, happiness and dancing. That is why school girls are being the target of chemical attacks. Be our voice and Let’s end gender apartheid regime together.

There is a guy literally starving himself to death outside the Foreign And Commonwealth office, he is a journalist and husband to a Cllr in Coventry, he's asking them to proscribe the IRGC (special forces of the regime) as a terrorist organistion they have a massive investment coproration that they use as a slush fund for the overseas crimes. He's putting his health on the line for the freedoms and safety of the women of Iran, but none of our guys are picking up on this!

StopStartStop · 20/03/2023 11:30

Thank you for that. I hadn't heard of him at all.

Fastfad · 20/03/2023 11:42

I know it's bizarre isn't it! What are they waiting for... #vahidbeheshti

Covetthee · 20/03/2023 12:03

It seems the foreign media doesn’t want to cover this at all. Unfortunately behind the scenes it benefits them to have this government.

The tragic story of Reyhaneh Jabbari was discussed on Woman's Hour this morning ( www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001k7qr

In 2007, when she was just 19 years old, Reyhaneh Jabbari was sentenced to death for the murder of the man who tried to rape her. She spent seven years on death row, dying at the age of 26. She is heralded as a symbol of resistance for women in Iran and now a new documentary tells her story. ‘Seven Winters in Tehran’ brings together secretly filmed footage, and testimonies from family and friends. Nuala talks to the director of the film Steffi Niederzoll and Reyhaneh’s mother Shole Pakravan.

'A number of other MPs came to visit me again yesterday, and expressed concerns. My stance is clear. I will stay here until the UK Government does the right thing and places the IRGC on the list of terrorist organisations.'

They are called the TRAliban for a reason......

And so much for solidarity with women or vulnerable or oppressed people, the agenda couldn't be clearer.
