Like the title says really, I'm seeing it all over twitter today and I haven't got a clue what it's about.

Fuck me, that writing was so...BAD! And someone high up in publishing was buyingin to it, god how embarrassing for them.
Someone up thread said it came accross as teenage but, frankly it would be cringy from a young teen.

I'd say its like something an 8yr old boy would write, but even then, I dont know, an 8yr old boy with a moderatly severe learning disability?

The people who scream "transphobia" at every little thing and regularly come out with absolutely batshit statements are calling US lolcows. Mmmmokay.

It's like they haven't ever heard of the Streisand effect.

'heres women, what a load of lolcows.'

'lolcows, never heard of that' <Googles 'lolcows'>

<Clicks through to K I W I farms>

'Holy fucking Christ these people are mental'

Then has a complete understanding of what the women were originally on about. And starts writing to MPs, schools, councils, and boom, they are TERFing it up like everyone else.

Job done. Cheers fellas.

So, people on twitter continue to send readers to Mumsnet.

Fantastic. Welcome, all.

Feel free to ask questions, start a thread, have a discussion. This board is full of informed, polite posters with diverse life experiences who have been discussing issues pertinent to women's rights for many years.

I actually did google lolcow as I'd never heard of it before, I can't see how it applies to us. I did notice the ageism however which is a TRA staple

LOLcow: A phenomena, usually observed on forums and/or imageboards. A person, most often someone who tries to look exceedingly knowledgeable in the topic discussed, is being flamed/trolled to the point where they can no longer present "sane" arguments that will "fit their level", but yet are too proud to just quit. This produces a considerable amount of lolz and win, for which the said person can be "milked" until they finally give up. Or drop dead. Hence the name.

Pruella · 23/08/2022 10:56

Where is the ageism?

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 22/08/2022 15:11

I'd say the choice of white sauce is a deliberate sneer at Allison for not acting "black enough".

Slimy racist toads. One of my many issues with pseudo-progressives is how conditional their acceptance and tolerance is. They pretend not to be racist, but it is conditional. If someone Disagrees While Being Black, out comes all the racism.

I don't think the choice of carbonara is an attack on Allison, it's a long running Graham Linehan meme that TRA's pathetically find hilarious.

Yes, it's one thing sending people to mumsnet, it's quite another sending them to the farmers.

What a bloody eye-opener that's goonna be!

It's really not the place you want people to visit, if you're desperate to maintain even a shred of your reputation.

Star witness Michelle Brewer literally hit a bin in her clown car.

Ah right. Never seen that one. I'm sure it's side-splitting.

Occam's razor

What's more likely, a meme about Glinner and carbonara that no one has ever heard of or TRAs taking the opportunity to insult a black lesbian barrister friend of JK Rowling?

🤔

This.

Plus evidence to disprove theories - such as the racism, sexism, homophobia, misrepresentation of the law, abandoning of standard safeguarding, exclusion of females, you know the little stuff like that which is why females have a lot of questions about identity politics?

It's welcomed. It's absolutely longed for. We are mostly dying to be proved that there's nothing to worry about, that those of us trying to get into refuges and get rape support or to be able to access health care or not be bullied out of our workplaces for wanting equal access to loos and not to be forced to use mixed sex spaces actually have no problem getting the single sex services we need and are fully supported in doing this.

Dissenting voices and evidence to disprove the horror is very, very welcome. Expect it however to be thoroughly and objectively examined, debated, loopholes and problems for female people identified and challenged and the ramifications for females thoroughly argued for, because this is a women's rights board and this is what we do here .

Calling it 'hate' and lolling a lot won't really get you very far.

Or drop dead

TRAs like to paint all GC women as old, they're convinced that as time moves on more of them will come online and more GC women will drop offline if you you know what I mean.

Or drop dead

TRAs like to paint all GC women as old, they're convinced that as time moves on more of them will come online and more GC women will drop offline if you you know what I mean.

This is key to their strategy.

They are absolutely ignoring the fact that so many young people are actively being dishonest about their beliefs for fear of abuse, ostracisation and being 'cancelled' in any way. The YouGov poll last year pointed this out.

The so called 'tolerant' generation and the most intolerant in the UK at the moment.

So, when activists and allies try to make out that we are all old and going to die out.... they soon shut the fuck up when they start seeing the reality in the polls.

Just like, have you seen one poster recently gleefully telling us that we are in minority and the majority are all wonderfully on board with transitioned males being welcomed into toilets and sports?

When you live in a world curated to be very safe for yourself, you cannot see reality. But it is there.

I don't think that was written by TRAs though. Lolcows is more a K i w i Farms thing, and they have LOADS of threads on TRAs, and about 3 on "terfs". I think it just means that "lolcows" are hopeless cases that aren't going to change.

And then calling her racist! Reality is not their strong point, not sure what is, to be honest.

Isawyoufirst · Today 00:23:

Have you read the judgement in the Allison Bailey case? Lots of us have done so.

Link: www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Bailey-judgment.pdf

Paragraph 399: "Weighing up the strength and length of the claimant’s injury to feelings we award £22,000, £2,000 of which is aggravated damages."

YouHaveAnArse · 24/08/2022 09:12

The carbonara meme has been going for years. Given this forum only heard of Chris Chan when the case hit the mainstream news (and thought 'Chan' was CC's last name) it doesn't surprise me that this forum's not au fait with memes.

Interesting that you think the Farms will change minds - it's well known for being riven with racism, sexism, homophobia, pisstaking of disability and autism, and is the latest iteration of the group that documented and bullied a vulnerable man to the point that it ended in a heinous crime. You may agree with what they are saying about some of the people you dislike but they are not your friends and good luck getting people to look past the edgelordism.

Do you need to read the thread again?Even if it wasn't deliberate originally, there are connections to older, racist tropes. Any decent person would therefore perhaps row it back a bit, especially given how highly sensitive their side of.the debate is.

Nuance is difficult though, I get it.

I know enough about CWC and Kiwi Farms to know this is a twisted version of things, but I wouldn't expect any less. But whatever that's a minor point in this thread.

Oh noes we're not au fait with memes! Why don't you just explain them to us instead of being an arse about it?

DarkDayforMN · 24/08/2022 09:31

Oh noes we're not au fait with memes!

I’m sure Arse is very proud of arse’s meme connoisseur status, I am suitably humbled. I’ll just note that even “Know Your Meme” doesn’t seem to know the “carbonara meme” so it doesn’t seem very reasonable to expect us to. Perhaps its use is restricted to some super-elite, exclusive community of Reddit powermod types? How fancy.

YouHaveAnArse · 24/08/2022 09:34

"that no one has ever heard of" is just bollocks, though. The wider world doesn't know the memes/shibboleths associated with MN, doesn't mean they don't exist.

"I wouldn't expect any less" - eh? Not sure what you mean by that. Anyway, someone unfamiliar enough with that end of the web that they have to google the term 'lolcow' is going to find the farms....not to their taste.
