Just seen this posted on Facebook, no reasons were given. All the comments I had seen on previous publicity were positive.

Wonder if they have finally looked into the social media and previous statements of the person reading the story , and realised safeguarding might actually be relevant

CrossStichQueen · 08/08/2022 18:29

Good.
While adults are free to enjoy drag it's not child appropriate.

cariadlet · 08/08/2022 18:39

Excellent news

I agree it's inappropriate for children but was a bit concerned about the likes and positive comments I had seen up to now . So I'm happy with this latest update .

Great news 👏

CrossStichQueen · 08/08/2022 20:32

I disagree with drag as it is a male pisstake of womens attributes males think we should have if that makes sense?

DOBARDAN · 08/08/2022 20:40

Nice to see, but it's only postponed, could be for a week, maybe a month, or until they think the protesters have gone away and forgotten, I wish it was cancelled forever.
My heartfelt thanks to all those who have protested or complained loudly, and continue to do so, either on site, or in other ways too.

It's been pointed out that Aida H Dee doesn't tuck. It's highly visible. Drag Queens do whatever they do in clubs, but in performing for a wider audience and wearing tight dresses (for example) you don't see any bulge. I've just been reading a whole article on the care Drag Queens go to when making up and dressing, and tucking (disappearing their p*nis so it's absolutely not visible) is a big part of that.

So Aida could, but doesn't, hide his p*nis when storytelling to young children.

MichelleScarn · 08/08/2022 22:40

"We will continue to be inclusive" I.e. as long as you capitulate and agree with what we demand we may include you?

Letterasaurus · 08/08/2022 22:42

Very pleased by this news. Hope it's postponed for ever. It really demonstrates how when a man puts on a dress he becomes part of a sacred, untouchable caste and all the normal rules of safeguarding are suspended.

Igmum · 09/08/2022 15:58

Good. Now how about a Lesbian Grandmother story time?

Lifeadmin · 09/08/2022 16:03

I’ll volunteer for post menopausal woman story hour, what’s that?, not stunning and rave enough?

Lifeadmin · 09/08/2022 16:04

Haha typo, should be brave , I wouldn’t mind a rave though once the HRT kicks in.

Lifeadmin · 09/08/2022 16:06

It’s in Rochdale, bastion of safeguarding. Maybe they have had one too many national scandals there to risk another one.

keeptalkinghappytalk · 09/08/2022 16:12

Why? When you need to be 18 to see Aida and colleagues perform in licensed premises… why are libraries inviting them in? Diversity?

They’re men in dresses…the reason is unpleasant but it’s to do with breaking down kids’ natural barriers and normalising sexualised behaviour as well as blurring male/ female categories so we’re all just whatever we say we are.
Deeply troubling … I’ve written to lots of libraries appealing to them to think again and protect kids …

cariadlet · 09/08/2022 21:31

He's asking his followers on social media to email the council.

WRN suggest that we also send a quick email to [email protected] thanking them for postponing the Drag Queen Story Hours sessions and putting the needs of children first. And encourage them to cancel them all together.

Seems a good idea.

Pantomimes, anyone?

Protect them from what, exactly?

picklemewalnuts · 09/08/2022 21:36

Protect them from sexualised entertainment, I'd think. Seems reasonable to me.

Cuck00soup · 09/08/2022 21:45

Leaving aside the drag bit. I think taking this piss out of ADHD is unacceptable.

What other conditions would it be "entertaining" to joke about? Cancer? Heart Disease? Cerebral Palsy?
