80 year old woman banned from pool for standing up for little girls

This poor woman dedicated her life to defending women and girls. She heard a male voice while in the shower at her local pool, looked out and saw a TW changing near 4 or 5 little girls while staring at them. She stepped in, asked if the TW had a penis, and got banned and the pool staff threatened to call police on her. They lied and said she said all kinds of profane things. This is so disgusting. I feel so bad for her.

No signage was up to tell anyone that males could be in the female changing room. So very few, if any, people knew that.

If this policy is to be enacted, it needed to be enacted clearly. Very clearly.

Bangolads · 05/08/2022 08:41

This is just another example of how women are being silenced. I’m always intrigued when they’d at that women are going against the science. What science exactly?

Totally agree that any kind of public changing room for women that allows males in needs to make this very clear.

I guess such a sign would potentially upset these males because they think they’re women, and God forbid we cause men who want to use women’s changing areas any upset. Their feelings are paramount, right, @JenniferBarkley and @Didimum ?

oviraptor21 · 05/08/2022 08:46

Such a well articulated piece. Who could argue against it?

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 05/08/2022 08:47

It's complete cognitive dissonance.

  • a male staff member dressed in a swimsuit was observed in the womens changing rooms engaging with a group of female children getting undressed.

In what world does everyone go 'oh how nice, she's entitled to be there because she's being her true self. I think it's good that those female children get to see that everyone is who and what they say they are and living their true lives'.

Fucks sake, safeguarding used to actually be a thing, do we just not care anymore?

Kennykenkencat · 05/08/2022 08:47

We will not tolerate bias, hatred, or discrimination that leads to the oppression of individuals or communities. We will ensure sustained and meaningful progress toward equity and human dignity for all

Isn’t that the very opposite of what they are doing or is it just another lie.

The pool staff seem to be making things up to justify their behaviour.
Can you trust anything they say as the lies seem to be tripping off the tongue so easily
I wonder what else they lie about

I think Jennifer Barkley might be focusing on the wrong thing here. I nearly choked on my shreddies. I've never seen someone defend a peadophile like that before.

Its like that old poster I used to have :

Psychopaths Are Human Too.

Yes they are . But certain precautions are advisable...

Didimum · 05/08/2022 08:48

CrossStichQueen · 05/08/2022 08:32

That didn't answer my question Didimum

I said do you think it is OK for a male to be in a female changing room standing next to little girls who are undressing. It is a yes or no answer.

I think it’s OK for a TW to use a women’s space if the establishment allows it and the TW behaved appropriately, along with all the other patrons. Go ahead and hurl abuse at me. Whatever.

PaterPower · 05/08/2022 08:49

“She should have reported her concerns to the management of the pool.”

Another that CBA to read the article before commenting.

There was a female employee / manager in the changing room. She expressed her concerns to this employee AFTER (correctly) first challenging the opposite-sex person she could see was watching the small children getting changed.

She made the challenge first because, you know, fucking SAFEGUARDING. And in any case, look where having “reported her concerns” got her - a scolding, whilst still nude, from the female employee, later joined by other staff.

Are you actually a mother, Didimum? In a situation where you perceive either your own, or other children, may be at risk (of any sort) is your immediate reaction to leave them whilst you go and question the pool’s policies?!

Or would you do what this woman did (what any sane adult would do) and intervene to mitigate the threat asap? For your, and everyone else’s, children’s sake I hope it’s the latter.

Rightsraptor · 05/08/2022 08:51

How would this play out@Didimum? Imagine - this lady would have to get dry and dressed to some level of decency before leaving the changing room. Leaving the girls with this man. Then she has to find someone to discuss this with, someone very reluctant probably. How much time has passed now, with the girls maybe still alone with him in what their parents had likely assumed was a female-only space? By this time he's dressed and gone. And we know how they'd respond anyway - we've seen it already.

Do you have no concerns for the privacy, safety and dignity of the Girls?

EsmaCannonball · 05/08/2022 08:52

It's not a women's space if there's a man in it. It's a unisex space and unisex spaces always become male-dominated spaces. Unisex spaces exclude women.

BoredofthisCrap7 · 05/08/2022 08:53

""Assuming the woman's assertion was true and she didn't just hear a deep voice and put two and two together and get twenty.""

No, she put two and two together and got a big fat fucking FOUR.
In what world is it ever okay for a MAN to be in the female changing room watching young girls? And you're actually defending this?

This is just another version of the old "well, they shouldn't have been looking anyway" etc. Unbelievable.

What the hell are you defending here?
What mental gymnastics have you gone through to convince yourself that it is EVER okay for a man with a penis (or without one) to be observing children in the female changing room?
WHERE is the safeguarding?
And an (elderly) woman stands up for this and it's HER who is facing the backlash?

And the handmaidens run to the defence of the MAN?

This world is so far down the rabbit hole.

PurpleWisteria · 05/08/2022 08:54

Penises in women only spaces are never acceptable.

CrossStichQueen · 05/08/2022 08:56

Nobody is abusing you!

You are skirting around the fact that I said male.
So in your view its ok for a TW who obviously is male to be in a female changingroom standing next to little girls that are undressing so therefore in your view it's OK for all males to do that?

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 05/08/2022 08:56

Go ahead and hurl abuse at me. Whatever.

No you're all right thank you…

doubt anyone wants to hurl abuse at you, although whats abuse does seem to vary on this forum

JenniferBarkley · 05/08/2022 08:58

"Do you have a penis" is a ridiculous question to ask a stranger. For one thing, what if you don't believe the answer given? Are you raising your children to believe an adult can ask them about their genitals, and that they should answer? Of course not.

Every adult should challenge and report predatory behaviour, where they are safe to do so. "Why are you staring at those children getting changed", "There is an adult in the changing room staring at children changing", anything in that vein would've been more effective and more helpful.

JellySaurus · 05/08/2022 09:00

So you think a male watching little girls getting undressed has behaved appropriately.

Kennykenkencat · 05/08/2022 09:01

JenniferBarkley · 05/08/2022 06:38

Asking a stranger about their genitalia will get you banned from most respectable establishments.

If she was worried the woman was watching the children get changed, she should have challenged that, and told the staff.

But she did inform a staff member and was told that challenging a male watching girls get changed was discriminatory.

Sounds like a peadophile’s dream venue

“Ah, Julie. What a naughty woman you are for not asking the nice man politely and for not choosing your words more carefully. I don’t care if you were more concerned about getting him to stop staring at little girls who were getting changed - you were very wrong not to have considered his feelings first and foremost when addressing him. Shame on you, Julie.”

I think this is what @JenniferBarkley would say to our heroine of the day if not week: Julie.

It wasn't a woman.

DameHelena · 05/08/2022 09:09

It's an appalling story and Clementine and the pool both behaved shockingly. Those trumped-up claims about what Julie Jaman is supposed to have said to Clementine Shock

From that article Jaman is a massively impressive, articulate and thoughtful individual, isn't she?

Reductio ad absurdam.

At this point, they're supposed to abandon their original premise, but no, they just hold on more tightly.

BoredofthisCrap7 · 05/08/2022 09:26

"“I would just like to state that this individual is not a man identifying as a woman, this individual is a woman.” Rebecca Horasct of Sequim, Washington said, “It is inappropriate in this day and age for people to not recognize what transgender means.”

Bullshit.
Are we denying science now too? Trans means that they "identify" as the other sex surely? Not that they LITERALLY ARE the opposite sex (otherwise they wouldn't be "trans" would they? HE literally is a man identifying as a woman.

""Hawkins added that her solution to females who felt uncomfortable changing around males were to use bathroom stalls, which are located in the same gender-neutral area. She also suggested closing the shower curtain was an appropriate solution for privacy and safety.""

Ah, great. Just close the damn CURTAIN ladies! We all know that SHOWER CURTAINS are rape proof shields that no man can possibly enter. And there's literally no way of opening them against your will.

Problem solved.
