Yes exactly Menopausal. Bleak innit.

ScrollingLeaves · 31/07/2022 11:31

Imagine a woman as a Drag King doing a story time, looking the equivalent of a drag Queen so a male stripper type.

What could the woman wear?

Tight black sequinned/ or leather trunks that have been stuffed./or tight ‘merman’ skirt affair, stuffed.

A a tight beige binder top printed with muscles.

Fake hairs on legs and arms.
Maybe a bit of a beard.

Short hair wig.

A bow tie.

An open, long, swaggering, trench-coat.
Boots.

Make-up: dark thick eyebrows. Pale beige lipstick.

It would be so educational, and in the interests of inclusivity.

(GC women/MN types notably absent)

The women who were inside the library at the first protest were definitely GC, the points they brought up were exactly what we've been saying on here.

I've no idea, my comment was about Bristol.

I really hate this whole situation - women and LGB people have warned about a nasty backlash for so long. We've had to beg to be heard, and be constantly igored and lied about while knowing that there are other people out there who aren't polite and reasonable and the way they will act is not A Good Thing for anyone.

Everyone who's screamed 'women and LGB ppl are fascists', has contributed to this situation.

I don't remember anyone in Shakespeare twerking, or teaching children to twerk. Also I don't think any genitals have been flashed in Shakespeare either.

Also female actors are no longer thought to be prostitutes.

And the ballet dancers don't talk about children opening their legs. They are beautiful whilst drag queens are not.

The company is very much still trading as it’s the ltd company associated with the DQST web site. Wonder who the councils are actually contracting with and how they are paying for the service Hmm

Perhaps the company supplies a list of DQs
to the Council, who then pays the DQ as a self -employed individual. The DQ would then pay the DQST company a commission- but n.b. I don’t know this for a fact.

The Articles (1st doc filed @ the back) actually cover that as it would be helping a small business trade so any payment would imo be trading income.

"Trading" would be down to timings, if the company entered into contracts any time in the 3 months before May 17th it fall foul of the declaration that it was not trading (and new contracts after the application don't appear to be allowed under sections 1003/1004 either?)
www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/46/section/1004

The document itself is messy.
The company needs a 2 directors quorm to pass any resolutions and per the Companies House records only ever had the one.

Companies House can disolve the company 2 months after 25 May 2022 (so 25 July 2022) it depends on what their process is re timings.

But your point is intresting as I assume that the payments would be subjected to income tax and the Councils should have to establish that the recipient tax compliant. I am assuming that as the DQ is a subcontractor that the Councils own insurance would cover public liability for the event?

I'm sick to the back teeth of seeing TRAs/Black Pampers trying to stop women gathering to speak and the police protecting them, it's misogyny in its purest form

shedwithivy · 01/08/2022 09:04

I was on a thread about this person a couple of years ago, at the time we discussed the adult pics that they had on their public social media (no separation between their evening and daytime persona) I see nothing has changed... it just seems they have a free pass where anyone else working with children would be considered unsuitable - a teacher for example with a Twitter page like that.

The way I see it, they don't choose a variety of inclusive story readers because actually what the library wants is a big, colourful show to draw in people to their quiet libraries, to prove there is demand to keep them open. The kids get a kind of clown. The parents can feel all liberal and edgy, the library gets footfall and some stonewall points and the DQ gets a secondary income stream. It's a nice little arrangement for all concerned.

No one really thinks any deeper than that - ie what the children actually learn or get out of it, and anyone who does have philosophical or safeguarding concerns or objections is labelled a homophobic bigot. In one way you could say, well if you don't like it, don't go... but presumably this is all paid for out of public taxes?

Brave adult human females who believe a man can't be a woman are protesting St Ives Library in Cornwall today.

Of course the black pampers have turned up

Realityisreal · 01/08/2022 12:03

Is it my imagination or was there a thread some time back about an inappropriately dressed sorry time drag queen who very evidently hadn't tucked and was 'accidentally' displaying a bulge in a tight fitting, spangly jumpsuit?

I don't ask out of titillation but that it was a clear representation of the lack of safeguarding people are concerned about and a picture paints a thousand words. Does anyone else remember this?

RhannionKPSS · 01/08/2022 12:21

Yes I remember, the photo is out there of the jumpsuit & the lack of tucking... 🤮

Yes .... the photo keeps being deleted when directly posted into the thread....

Realityisreal · 01/08/2022 15:11

Thank you for the link @PurgatoryOfPotholes , I did think it was the same person. @Helleofabore it's frustrating because for me it encapsulated the issue of lax/no safeguarding in one image. When I was discussing my point of view with my DC aged 23 and 21 they were adamant that drag Queens are no problem around children, they could see from my viewpoint when I described that outfit (and the monkey incident) but I couldn't find that image to show them what other purple deem acceptable around children. .
If there genuinely is no problem why has that image been hidden??

OK to be seen by children in RL in a library. Not OK to be posted on a thread about it? That does seem odd.

Realityisreal · 01/08/2022 16:49

That's exactly the issue I have with the absence of the photo. The venue and the drag queen know well enough what an issue that photo is and so they've hidden it from view, thus highlighting a complete lack of willingness to take responsibility for their own part in a safeguarding fail.
It's one thing to have a costume malfunction, put your hands up to it, address it and take necessary steps to ensure it doesn't happen in the future, its a completely different matter for both the drag queen and venue to pretend it never happened, what else might they decide 'never happened??

Same old, same old - TRAs desperately trying to portray women who won't accept men in their safe spaces as far right bigots.

If you look at his business facebook and the photos he's uploaded, the "costume malfunction" has happened on multiple occasions.

From the Telegraph
Drag queens should be called “pantomime dames” to fool protesters, council librarians have been urged in a crisis meeting amid embattled “story hour” sessions for children

Unfortunately I don’t have a share token.
I was amused by this in that this is exactly what TRAs come on here to say.

Don't think the telegraph have share tokens but I have a (temporary) subscription as they've been good recently

It's a word that gets the picture deleted by MNHQ, popularised by Graham Linehan.
