Dearie me. These people are creating very difficult lives for themselves.

Who'd a thunk that coddling your kids away from the realities of the world would leave them unequipped to deal with reality? 🤔

bellinisurge · 22/07/2022 14:48

What kind of parent would not tell their female born child about periods. Especially if your child was denying that they were female so strongly that it would inevitably be a trauma for them.

I heard about half of the Kenny episode. They insisted no pay was taking anything away from women or their spaces. Ok Kenny, have you been listening for the last 3 years?

I thought the Kenny episode was very sad. Listening to someone denying their own biology was bad enough but then rather strangely , listening to them firstly denying that trans people are trying to usurp womens spaces and womens language then being proud that they are doing exactly that by manipulating language that refers to female biology and menstruation made me lose a lot of sympathy for them.

I’m sorry you find your own body and its biological functions distasteful Kenny, but I can’t help feeling that it is what you need to deal with inside your head rather than making it anyone else’s issue to deal with. And hearing the visceral response you had to menstruation was both distressing and disturbing because you spoke about it as though it was something almost alien happening to your body not a perfectly natural function that half the worlds population deal with for most of their lives .I am sorry, but I don’t and can’t pretend to understand how you feel.

It turns out the Kenny's Mum, as a parent of a "transboy", didn't feel able to tell them they would start having periods at some point meaning that when Kenny had their first one, Kenny found it to be traumatising.

One interesting part of the interview is Kenny reporting coming under attack from other transmen who objected to acknowledging the reality of them (in many case) having periods.

Hadn't Jenny's mum ever watched Carrie? Sounds like the poor mum is walking on eggshells and that has meant Kenny has been traumatised for something that could have been avoided with a simple and truthful conversation.
