trans supporters and tactics

I was posting on the now deleted thread about trans women who wanted to pee and it made me think about the tactics that are used by trans supporters. The "need to pee" one being obvious. Another used to be "be kind" but I think that is becoming a little outdated now. Ageism is another I've observed - whether it is calling people who support single sex spaces dinosaurs, or just pointing out as was done on the other thread that it tends to be slightly older women who support womens rights. Another is to call people phobic, because we associate the word with homophobic which is obviously abhorrent. Also the mention of DSDs. Any other tactics that I've missed?

Oh yeah. There's another one...
White feminists
Right wing religious nuts
Racist
Anti semitic
Conspiracy theorists

there seems to be considerable evidence for all of these..

Ah yes, the trying to imply women are mentally unstable

straight out of the Victorian gentleman’s playbook

enjoying the real time demonstration from our visitors

I know. It's very Harry Enfield's 'Women, know your limits!', isn't it?

Love your username by the way - on a day like today, I'm thinking about Manny and his Dave's Syndrome.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 19/07/2022 11:31

Oh hai @antifascist , about your claim that the terrible Daily Mash article you posted that had no byline was written by someone from South Yorkshire

you made that up, no?

do you always make up stuff that you wish was true? The evidence points to ‘yes’….

RoyalCorgi · 19/07/2022 11:33

A lot of this stuff is very reminiscent of what misogynists used to say about the suffragettes, particularly the implications that women who care about this issue are unhinged, mentally unstable etc., and that women should remain silent rather than speak about topics that affect them.

I was looking at Twitter a couple of days ago, and Maya Forstater did a completely reasonable tweet about consulting women and girls before introducing mixed-sex toilets. She was met with a torrent of abuse implying that she had an unnatural obsession with toilets and that she should just "shut up" .

Enjoying the way antifascist has so far managed to prove our point with his every post on this thread. Say what you like about trans activists, but you can never accuse them of being over-endowed in the brains department.

love that episode

well, I love all the episodes to be fair

I’m in my seventies, and find the main tactic of any of these groups s not to listen, but to shout and scream over anyone who doesn’t agree with them. I refuse to accept the use of the word ‘phobia’ that doesn’t mean a fear of something, transphobia for example isn’t a fear of transgender people. I am also a realist. It is a fact that you cannot change sex. You can pretend to be of the opposite sex, but you are still the sex you were born as. You have no choice.

The thing is, a lot (most?) of these people on twitter are idiots. Conversations with them bring zero value

it’s the back room operators that have made a lot of this shit happen. What are they saying to people with power that’s so persuasive?

I often wonder this - there must have been some brown envelopes changing hands.
Given what we know about Crispin Blunt, and also the Lib Dems' donations received by pharmaceutical companies it seems like the tip of the iceberg.

I just despair at how seemingly intelligent, rational people who are decision makers have abdicated common sense. There is no doubt in my mind that if this ideology disadvantaged men and boys the way it does women and girls, that it would not have gotten as far as it has. Despite the fact that we are 52% of the population, the decision makers and people in power are still men.

Having to listen to 'trust the science, listen to the science, believe the science' for the last year regarding vaccines, and knowing that my government (Ireland) have simultaneously ignored scientific differences between men and women when it suits them is bullshit.

I looked on Twatter and there were a lot of comments saying 'well, you have a gender neutral loo at home / you and your household use one loo'. So utterly farfetched logic, not like I have a load of strangers and men traipsing through my house!

Yes, I hate this one - they seem to have forgotten the fact that you tend to vet people coming through your front door. So not the same as a public bathroom then!

I would love to ask those people if they were a woman living alone, and a random man they had never met knocked on the door at 11 o'clock at night and asked to come in and use the bathroom, would they be happy to let him in?

MsFrenchie · 19/07/2022 11:48

Does Mumsnet still delete posts and ban users if someone makes the apparently and innocuous statement that trans women are men? I think I’ve seen posts disappear for that before.

Surely the whole point of the adjective “trans” in “trans women” is to identify that the person in question is a man “living as” a woman. I can’t really understand what sort of convoluted thinking has resulted in accepting what was complete orthodoxy in trans people’s own vocabulary is now so offensive that it can’t be allowed to be posted.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 19/07/2022 11:59

I’ve certainly had recentish deletions and warnings for using the phrase ‘men who identify as women’

leading to frustrating conversations with some anonymous MNHQ robot to enquire how I’m allowed to refer to men who identify as women without being forced to refer to them as women

I like to think MNHQ have out grown that phase, but who knows?

Thanks @RoyalCorgi - love the way the gender critical think that abusing opponents or calling them thick mean that they are like the suffragettes.,

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 19/07/2022 12:03

@antifascist , you seem to have missed my question about your silly lie about that Daily Mash article

I expect you’ll get to it any minute

makes you look a bit unreliable, no?

MsFrenchie · 19/07/2022 12:03

antifascist · 19/07/2022 11:28

there seems to be considerable evidence for all of these..

But for some reason you don’t seem able to give any.

The racist claim is interesting; it’s clear that most trans are racist to the core, as shown by the very frequent “if men are not women then how can you claim that black women are” trope, yet this is a claim that they try to throw back at others.

It makes sense, of course; trans activists are generally left-wing, and in the UK the left have a massive problem with racism.

Madcats · 19/07/2022 12:10

Tenuously linked, but I am reading a great book at the moment called "the End of the World is Flat" by Simon Edge. It tackles just this issue in a satirical way.

(Though I expect you all read it years ago).

The End of the World is Flat is brilliant - I definitely recommend to everyone on this board.

I’m non-binary and feel utterly ashamed that someone like you thinks to speak for me.

You come across as quite an angry male who has a serious issue with anyone non-white.

Can you not find your own campaign to poison, and leave trans to ourselves?

EdithStourton · 19/07/2022 12:44

@BernardBlacksWineIcelolly have you considered putting wine ice lollies into production? I could get through a couple at speed after work today.

As for @antifascist some reading comprehension exercises might be in order.

I've just tried to order this from the library.
Unfortunately none of the libraries stock it so I can't even order it from another branch.

New one from Twitter today - 'we need her to be sacked'. I also saw a condescending prick yesterday complacently tell women that anyone who didn't agree that TWA literally W should be sacked from employment. Other people's comments/facts/legal precedents were simply ignored.

The authoritarian tone of all this crap is what galls me. Males in particular seem to think that if they say something confidently enough that it's an absolute truth and shouldn't/can't be challenged.

Signalbox · 19/07/2022 12:52

Lol, if only trans activists would stop foisting their ideology on everyone else people would be happy to leave trans to themselves.

The rage and anger that comes out when women assert boundaries is quite astonishing. So many men can't handle it when women say no.

I’m not a trans activist though, just a normal female who doesn’t happen to identify with all of the stereotypes of either sex, so am non-binary.

Lol the irony went over my head :D

Fair enough.

Today for example, although I’m wearing a summer dress and sandals I am also in the office running a department in a bank. This is not traditionally female, hence my coming firmly under the trans banner.

Yesterday I wore my husband’s shirt. That’s cross-dressing, also trans.

I like to think I’m doing my bit to widen what it means to be a woman.

My husband will be cooking dinner tonight. Also trans.
