Just a heads up the LGB Alliance are allotmenteering as Mermaids is challenging their charitable status. They need about 140 000 carrots, parsnips, beetroot, chard etc to fight this.

Has anyone complained to the Charity Commission about Mermaids yet? I know the first step in lodging a complaint is complaining directly to the charity. Does anyone know if you have to use your real name to do that?

also, is there anything else besides this lawsuit that should be included in the complaint?

off the top of my head, they’ve also recently pretended to know the law better than the Attorney General. And the fact that they were cited as a malign influence by Tavistock whistleblowers must have more weight now that the Tavistock has shut down. And there have also been data breaches etc but have those already been dealt with?

would it be worth starting a thread on this? I have no relevant expertise or standing, but it seems so clear that they think they’re a law unto themselves and it needs to stop.

Putting in a complaint about Mermaids sounds like a good idea. I've no idea if individuals have done this or not.

Have dug a little- still a way to go. What happens if the target isn't reached?

It is astonishing if nobody has yet put in a complaint about Mermaids. But where to start?

Likewise Stonewall, who are campaigning (or have done) to remove sex based rights. No charity is supposed to attempt to remove rights.

But why does taking those two on feel so massive?

There is another thread about Mermaids targeting SEN children and their parents, and maintaining that autism is a part of having a transgender identity - when the reality is that it could be the difficulties of living with autism that lead to a child wanting to change their gender as way of coping, and a way of being validated among peers.

Anyway, given the Cass report this sort of targeting of vulnerable children and their parents should not be happening.

re: possible grounds for reporting Mermaids, probably what they are doing with SEN children is not illegal at the moment, but I can only hope that it will be in due course. This is the tread I meant.
