what a star! if only so many on Mumsnet could do the same

"I cannot think of anything that helps women’s rights less than pinning the blame on trans women. They face so much violence and scrutiny as is. Leave them alone and focus on the real war on women. It’s happening in the courts and legislatures around this country."

It’s the feminist activism Angela Davis would have wanted, obvs:

whilst JK Rowling (1) or Jordan Peterson (2) were clearly and explcitly exemplifying feminist narratives by
(1) making a boy the hero
(2) eating lots of meat

Absolutely! Just think of those many, many scenes where they film her close up from behind just so the male audience can have a good look at her bum:

theclangersarecoming · 07/07/2022 22:15

Which is also famously why she turned into Wonder Woman by spinning around, because it the audience a good look at the hotpants from behind:

"Yes means yes and No means No
However we dress and whereever we go"

[except on mumsnet, obviously where we will be shamed for "appearing in satin hot pants and a shiny bra."]

["these days she’d have an OnlyFans, and flog a range of satin hot pants on Instagram,"]

Delighted to see Angela Davis has so many fans on here

"if we want to develop an intersectional perspective, the trans community is showing us the way. And we can't only point to, and we need to point, to cases such as the murder of Tony McDade, for example. But we need to go beyond that and recognize that we support the trans community precisely because this community has taught us how to challenge that which is totally accepted as normal. And I don't think we would be where we are today—encouraging ever larger numbers of people to think within an abolitionist frame—had not the trans community taught us that it is possible to effectively challenge that which is considered the very foundation of our sense of normalcy. So if it is possible to challenge the gender binary, then we can certainly, effectively, resist prisons, and jails, and police."

Obviously you are far too young and modern to have watched the original Wonder Woman, anti, but are you seriously suggesting that it was a feminist production with feminist values at its core? And not just another show objectifying women for the male gaze?

theclangersarecoming · 07/07/2022 22:23

It’s absolutely daft in the extreme to claim that objecting to the 1970s sexualisation of women’s arses as titillating early evening family entertainment is “shaming”. Oh dear!

You really do need a bit of thinking training. Read some actual books, and take the time to listen to people who know more than you do. Do a proper university course where you have to learn things from before 2012! (Like the history of fascism, for example.) Then you will be far better equipped for all of this.

theclangersarecoming · 07/07/2022 22:27

What next? Morecambe and Wise as radical Commie activists of their day, I guess. Allo Allo a serious Marxist commentary on the European transnational peace movement. Maybe The Dukes of Hazzard as antifa deconstructionists of performative gender roles?

Dreikanter · 07/07/2022 22:30

When the UN wanted to promote Wonder Menstruator as a “role model” it didn’t go down too well.

Hey, dried up old ladies of Mumsnet! You thought objectifying women’s bodies was Really Bad in those olden times back before 2012; but get rid of those antiquated ideas, because antifascist is now here to tell us that 70s television is actually a feminist-activist medium!

GoodJanetBadJanet · 07/07/2022 22:58

See, the only time I see people calling women dried up (WTF?) and menstruators is by so called "GC" feminists on this board.
As a joke or not, it's pretty disgusting to describe us like that.

RoseslnTheHospital · 07/07/2022 23:06

Janet, care to admonish the OP about their blatant ageism? Or is it ok to ignore it because you think we deserve it?

theclangersarecoming · 07/07/2022 23:10

Oh dear, Bad Janet, it’s called satire. Did you miss the OP getting the jibes in about being old?

As an aside and general musing, why do the gender people never seem to have any sense of nuance or humour? All our gendery posters seem to have exactly the same writing style of heavy handed earnest disingenuousness. It’s enough to make me wonder sometimes if they are all the same person, locked in a basement somewhere in Brighton, surrounded only by lonely stacks of unsold pronoun pins. <joking>

GoodJanetBadJanet · 07/07/2022 23:18

As said upthread, I'm nobody's sock so not sure why you're trying to insinuate yet again that we're the same person.
Oh and so if it's other women calling us dried up as a joke then that makes it Ok then, it's only satire after all 🙄

PearlClutch · 07/07/2022 23:21

So - you think the OP was wrong to tell another poster they were 'old' like that?

GoodJanetBadJanet · 07/07/2022 23:22

Janet, care to admonish the OP about their blatant ageism?
What, the "perhaps it's because you're old?" post?
No, because I don't take offence at a post just calling me old (as I am 😁 ) but dried up isnt funny even if it is bantz or satire.

GoodJanetBadJanet · 07/07/2022 23:23

I guess if you are all sharing the same joke you find it hard to have a sense of humour of your own.

a number of posters became offended by my
posting praise of Lynda Carter in solidarity with a feminist who recognises that there are bigger threats to women than trans people.

they made “jokes “ comparing me with Rick from the Young ones - (a programme which is around 40 years old)

they also claimed that I and @GoodJanetBadJanet are the same person.

I guess it’s hard to acknowledge that there are a number of people who find some of the views on Mumsnet to be quite narrow minded and to tolerate extreme positions from those who are anti-trans , whilst being extremely dismissive of feminists who don’t share those views.

OP posts:
RoseslnTheHospital · 07/07/2022 23:31

I can't believe it's necessary to explain the ageism, but it is the assumption that someone with a different opinion is older and therefore out of touch that is problematic. Not someone correctly stating that you happen to be older, Janet.

theclangersarecoming · 07/07/2022 23:35

Well, this is just ridiculous. You, antifascist, go about the forum literally calling people “fascists” (old is pretty good compared to that - I’ll take it); but you don’t like anyone pointing out that in doing so, you sound like a very famous comedy student character who goes about talking about “old fascists”?

And Janet, “dried up” is a perennial insult misogynists level at women who are “old” and also “mums”; that’s the entire point.

I think that some people who are supported on this section of the website are fascist or fascist adjacent, like, say, Jordan Peterson or Jacob Rees Mogg who wants abortion banned in every case, and who has used antisemitic slurs in the House of Commons addressed an extreme nationalist group, and retweeted approvingly the neonazi AfD

Yet despite their explicit antifeminist positions, they are endorsed because they share the antitrans position of some posters - regardless of those other positions.

I've posted praise for a feminist- not only have I faced considerable abuse, but several posters are claiming that @GoodJanetBadJanet and I are the same person, I think that has to do with their own narrowmindedness.
