what a star! if only so many on Mumsnet could do the same

"I cannot think of anything that helps women’s rights less than pinning the blame on trans women. They face so much violence and scrutiny as is. Leave them alone and focus on the real war on women. It’s happening in the courts and legislatures around this country."

Oh, lovely! What sort of puppy?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 07/07/2022 19:30

presumably due to the mention of puppies, the ad I'm seeing next to this thread is for dog treats, including a large, hairy (I guess) ponies ear

weird

you definitely get more tempting adverts when you frequent style and beauty

How nice to see a variety of ads.

Oddly I seem to only get a grey box due to slow loading.🤷🏼‍♀️

Because you can’t reason with fanatics. There’s no ‘pinning the blame’ on anyone for anything. Men just can’t be women. That will be true for as long as humans exist. I’m not going to waste my time arguing about it with the woman who used to play Wonderwoman.

Great post. Made me think of this -

Perhaps because you're old. The actor who played Rick from the Young ones died in 2012

This is on a thread about Wonder Woman from the 1970s 🤣

CrossPurposes · 07/07/2022 19:48

I noticed that a lot of the criticism of Bette Midler pointed out her age and how irrelevant she was because of that. And here's Lynda Carter with her opinion.

ControversialOpening · 07/07/2022 19:51

Why is it when I see a post by antifascist I always automatically find a scene featuring Rick from The Young Ones running through my head….?href="memeguy.com/photo/22072/hands-up-who-likes-me"> Hands up who likes me

theclangersarecoming · 07/07/2022 19:57

It’s a real shame when not knowing about anything before 2012 means that you don’t realise all your opinions are like, forty years old. Cringe!

Yes it makes saying like ‘Plus ca change’ hard to comprehend when you are so prejudiced against ancient history (pre 2012) that you have deemed it another thing not worthy of respect. And the 80’s must be prehistoric using that scale too.

RogersOrganismicProcess · 07/07/2022 20:28

Talking about pistachio nuts, apparently they are really reactive so have to be stored/packaged in strict conditions. I read about it in my new book, Lessons in Chemistry. It frightened me a little and compelled me to finish off our supply.

You are lovely, aren't you, OP?

Dreikanter · 07/07/2022 20:41

It’s a bit rich to take lessons in feminism from an actress that appeared in a 1970’s TV series that … objectified women.

ContradickstoryEvidence · 07/07/2022 21:09

Also a concept that promoted power and hierarchy based on birthright rather than merit. But Antifascist, whose user name is positively Orwellian, loves her.

FOJN · 07/07/2022 21:22

theclangersarecoming · 07/07/2022 19:11

OMG I wasn’t even born when it aired 🤣 Wouldn’t it be awful if we were no longer expected to know about the great thinkers, writers and artists of history - as well as a whole load of other things - because they were SO OLD OMG LIKE REALLY OLD, LIKE THEY DIED SOOOO LONG AGO, LIKE OMG BEFORE 2012, THAT’S LIKE, ANCIENT?

Good to know you’re keeping on keeping on being REALLY KIND to everyone, though, and not at all, trying to be ageist and insulting 😂 Like, OMG it’s like literal violence, you know? I do not know how I’m going to cope, but I think I can probably find an anime-themed safe space somewhere just in case I literally like, die?

Perhaps antifash is hoping for a Maoist type revolution.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 07/07/2022 21:25

Ah now come on @PearlClutch all forms of prejudice are bad to the beeee kind crowd except ageism which is completely brilliant & encouraged at all times 😆

PearlClutch · 07/07/2022 20:39

I like to think so .

Sorry to hear to hear you are apparently objecting to a post in praise of a feminist activist

OP posts:
RoseslnTheHospital · 07/07/2022 21:45

Oh hello Op. got any comment on the ageism in your previous posts??

PearlClutch · 07/07/2022 21:46

Perhaps because you're old. The actor who played Rick from the Young ones died in 2012

How is this praise for a feminist activist? What are you actually on about?

PearlClutch · 07/07/2022 21:47

Oh, sorry, I see. Rick from the Young Ones is not generally one of the people I think of when I think of feminist activists. I appreciate you have different views.

KittenKong · 07/07/2022 21:47

Where feminist activist?

It's pretty clear the OP is "on about" Linda Carter, so not sure what you yourself are actually on about.

I was responding to OP's post calling someone old. Hence quoting that in my own post.

Helleofabore · 07/07/2022 21:51

kitten

Maybe you missed it. Telling females to ignore the risk of make violence and male abuse, regardless of the identity of the person involved, is now a sound and praiseworthy feminist activity.

As is telling females where to prioritise their activism when they are fighting for their rights, that impact them personally.

theclangersarecoming · 07/07/2022 21:56

The original Wonder Woman TV series used to be thought of as a rather embarrassing relic of a time when women couldn’t play a character without appearing in satin hot pants and a shiny bra.

As a pp says it was thought of as rather cheesy and objectifying: “Wonder Woman” was basically intended as a bit of light commercial t&a for the weekend teatime dad audience, not exactly some kind of radical feminist manifesto.

I guess these days she’d have an OnlyFans, and flog a range of satin hot pants on Instagram, and today’s “feminist activists” would find that all really super empowering.
