If be concerned about Global Butterflies being an alternative. It's ran by two men who call themselves lesbians. One is ex army and stopped transitioning as couldn't get a job as a transwoman. When a job was secured continued with transition. I think if you can pop in out if your identity when it suits you it's not a great look. Also quite well off as has had a lot if facial feminisation surgery. When challenged in QA on non binary got aggressive and dismissive.

We had work training from them recently. I'm hoping the whole thing came across as so emotive and hideous that most people could see it for what it was. Some brave soles in the comments brought up sport and the BBC impartiality thing haha.

Still no official confirmation - I'm concerned that this has been a false start, unfortunately. But one day very soon...

How much money do universities actually spend on DEI that could be funding teaching or vital support services for students? Does anyone know?

I know my university - with about 1000 students - added three FT positions in the DEI sphere in the last three years or so.

I saw some non binary training person going into schools for a day for £300 a pop on twitter.

That's my annual resource budget for two subjects combined.

Christ, this boils my piss.

Wow! Talk about a gravy train.

This article in The Times has a passing mention: This week the Department for Education became the latest public body to disassociate from the charity.

I guess if SW is just replaced by another, similar group it just goes to show that the real problem is the underlying problem is how these outside organizations are being set up for this work.

It's crazy when you think about it. Some person or people just set out their shingle to offer training in some area, and organizations hire them. I had training at my work last year, the woman was nice enough, but researching her, she really didn't have any kind of special qualifications or anything. She made a pretense of being evidence based but even minimal digging showed it was pretty contentious evidence.

mrshoho · 02/07/2022 08:25

I hope the universities and NHS will follow. Concerns about free speech should be a red flag to all organisations who pay SW. I would imagine all local authorities will be moving to end their agreements. I hope the likes of global butterflies aren't going to be used in the same way though.
