Breaking: DFE has left Stonewall

"we do not feel it provides value for money for the service it provides and we shared concerns across government about the charity's stance on free speech"

isn't that civil service speak for "fuck off you bunch of cunts, and stay fucked off?"

Love your dictionary. Hope it's right!

GCRich · 27/06/2022 20:40

Datun · 27/06/2022 20:35

That's brilliant news. This is the department for education, telling educators that they have concerns over Stonewall's attitude to free speech.

What self respecting educator would now align themselves with Stonewall?

This is where it needs to be done, in schools and universities, and the government is doing it. At last.

And yes, as a previous post it says, parents can now challenge schools specifically on this basis.

To be fair, it would be entirely reasonable of educators to routinely ignore the DoE and OFSTED, but not on this issue.

iwanttobeasquare · 27/06/2022 20:45

Absolutely brilliant!!! No govt Dept, HEI, FE establishment, or school should be within a million miles of stonewall.

WindmillOfWimbledon · 27/06/2022 20:58

This is truly brilliant news. Each organisation is leaving one by one. Personally I'll view NHSE as the ultimate victory.

TheBiologyStupid · 27/06/2022 21:02

ResisterRex · 27/06/2022 18:47

Not just concerns, but concerns across government.

And it's about time. Now they - and all the taxpayer funded services - need to depoliticise their staff and align their policies with the law.

This! Excellent news - the writing is on the (Stone)wall for the demise of the organisation's infiltration of government departments.

No they shouldn't and it's about bloody time they woke up to that fact. We've already had that legal report that stated Stonewall was advising Universities on the Law as how they would like it to be and not how it actually is and still they bury their heads in the sand.

No Government or publicly funded body should be paying, out of taxpayer funds no less, a political lobby group, particularly one that has shown itself to play fast and loose with the Law of the land and to act against several of the protected characteristics in the Equality Act. Those who signed these public bodies up to this should be in the dock for malfeasance in a public office.

comfortablyfrumpy · 27/06/2022 21:04

Excellent news!

Mollyollydolly · 27/06/2022 21:06

They're getting a bit braver aren't they? Marvellous.

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 27/06/2022 21:07

the creation of new highly paid management roles in these areas

That’s the OTHER elephant in the room. Can’t believe they called that out, it felt like nobody was allowed to say what a parasitic pyramid scheme it all is.

Soontobe60 · 27/06/2022 21:10

As a teacher, I can’t tell you how good this news is. Some schools are going to be held very much accountable in the near future for the way they’ve pushed the trans agenda and colluded against parents in the say so of stonewall ‘law’.

I've had cause to write to my own child's secondary school about their excessive agenda pushing. The reply I got had the HT's pronouns in their signature...and there's been a certain frostiness towards my child and myself since I wrote.

I'm grimly satisfied to see this and and curious as to what the HT & staff concerned will he thinking now.

antifascist · 27/06/2022 21:34

you think this is good? You scare me,

you think this is good? You scare me,

You don't like free speech? It's a core value in a democracy. Are you sure you are anti-fascism?

Dreikanter · 27/06/2022 21:42

antifascist · 27/06/2022 21:34

you think this is good? You scare me,

Militant lobby groups pushing rigid gender ideology to young people through schools scares me.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 27/06/2022 21:44

Pleased as I am to see this, there's still a decade of of the DfE funding and advising schools to use Stonewall, Mermaids, GIRES, Gendered Intelligence and all the rest to challenge. Countless schools are Stonewall champions, cluelessly pushing an anti female, anti safeguarding agenda. All those adult groups gaslighting and weaponising children so we have a generation believing that you can change sex and that your growing body can be fixed with drugs and surgery.

So much damage has been done.

ResisterRex · 27/06/2022 21:47

antifascist · 27/06/2022 21:34

you think this is good? You scare me,

Scary how the exact same comment has been made by you on two threads

dropthevipers · 27/06/2022 21:51

antifascist · 27/06/2022 21:34

you think this is good? You scare me,

you must scare very easily then, and at the wrong things. Just to pick one thing at random, Nancy Kelly, head of Stonewall described same sex attracted lesbians as racists-but you would already know that, wouldn't you?

FromAMNtter · 27/06/2022 22:03

I am posting under a name change. I work with the DfE on some projects and I challenged their diversity wording when it used gender not sex as failing to comply with the EA and the PSED. They reviewed the document and corrected the wording.

It's not great for a major Gov't department to be told they've got the law wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if others had pointed it out too. I can see why they might have had enough.

ScreamingMeMe · 27/06/2022 22:09

viques · 27/06/2022 19:00

Good news. Let’s hope they ask schools who have been stonewalled to remove their approved by stonewall logos from their websites

I hope so!

Will it stop them giving lessons from Mermaids, Allsorts, etc though? Because that really needs to happen.

Leafstamp · 27/06/2022 22:12

BrambleyHedge · 27/06/2022 18:57

University minister has written to universities today tell them to think very carefully about signing up to equality charter marks/ free speech concerns...though she references the Race Equality Charter. Looks like bonfire of the charter marks.

Where did you hear this @BrambleyHedge ?

am interested

corlan · 27/06/2022 22:13

Very pleased about that. Hopefully will make it slightly easier for those working in education to resist the march of gender ideology.

Clymene · 27/06/2022 22:14

There's a copy of the letter reproduced in the thread @Leafstamp

Me too.
DS left school long ago, but nine of this Trans stuff was pressed on kids then.
Friends with younger children say children identifying as “ Trans” is so common now - especially amongst Autistic children.
The youngest is a child under 5.
Something is driving this trend, surely.
When DS was at school, no one was ID ing as the opposite sex.

FemmeNatal · 27/06/2022 22:17

What a lovely thing to read. A return to sanity seems to be happening.
