I had an email this morning regarding the line up of the upcoming Taylor Hawkins tribute concert. I am a fan, but a) cannot afford it, I know it'll be expensive and b) hoping it's streamed as would be happy to pay for that instead.

Anyways, there, near the bottom "with an special appearance from Dave Chappelle"

I smelt trouble, and sure enough you can imagine what twitter is like this morning, all yikes and disappointment and heartbroken at giving up their favourite band, one going even as far to say fuck foo fighters.

I can't imagine what the band is going through in the wake of the loss of Taylor, but the pile on modus operandi of the bullies has begun reagrdless, and probably won't end until Dave Chappelle has been booted from the line up with massive pandering apologies. After which they'll be whinged at to cough up big time/ give portion of their ticket sales to trans organisations, and get a special mention at the concert itself because as we all know, nothing is good enough 🙄

One of the biggest bands in the world, and even they can't escape the hyperbolic tantrums of the woo-woo!

Chappelle has performed with them before, and is friends with Dave Grohl as they realised when they met as adults that they had both lived in Washington DC and subsequently bonded.

I think that they are allowed to invite their friends to the tribute concert that they have organised. Where does the cancellation by association stop? How many degrees of separation do you need to be considered pure?

Well this is great publicity for the concert.

Hopefully a lot of MNetters will be going.

I feared the worst when i saw the title, so this is much better than i feared.
If he's friends with chappelle them he knows all about the controversy and made the choice with eyes wide open. So less likely to cave.

TRA stands for trans rights activist. Chappelle is unpopular (to say the least) with them because of his Netflix stand up. It was covered alit in the media.

Dave Chapelle is very funny, targets all sorts of groups (including women) with his humour. He describes himself in his latest Netflix "The Closer" as being on "Team Terf".
Like most rational adults, I don't find everything single he says funny but he's brilliant in calling out hypocrisy. For example:
" Chappelle makes the example of rapper DaBaby, who in 2018 shot and killed a man in Walmart with little repercussion to his career. Fast forward to 2021, and members of the LGBTQ community have boycotted DaBaby after he made homophobic remarks.
“You can kill a (expletive), but you better not hurt a gay person’s feelings,” said Chappelle "

Didn't Dave Chapelle's attempted cancellation generate a video with some dude defending Dave with a sign 'Jokes are funny', at which point unhinged tambourine-shaking TRA suggests, rather repeatedly and insistently, that he should 'repent, motherfucker'? Does anyone have a link, sorry, or I'll try to find later. It genuinely was one of the funniest moments of a whole debate

where does the tennis ball come into it?
Why did you say he's a radio guy with white privilege?
Why can't people ask something so it's explained within the right context? I could Google it, but get unrelated stuff about the guy that wouldn't explain this controversy at all. Ask an expert, surely?

Ah the "Repent Motherfucker" tambourine shaker was an absolute gem, the funniest part being the very polite way the person eased themselves to the front repeatedly saying "Excuse me" before launching into the tambourine shaking rant. Priceless. Almost as good as the one with the wheely mobility aid whizzing up to a woman whilst shouting "witch". For such a humourless mob TRA's provide some unsurpassable comedy moments.

Here you are. And yes - it was a glorious demonstration of the extreme efforts of the bigoted to cancel all dissent.

Didn't the guy with the sign get a bad head injury after another altercation where he was pushed over by TRAs? There are limits to the hilarity. They may be hilariously bonkers, but they're still scary and dangerous!

The jokes literally tell themselves. They have killed comedy as nothing is as funny as watching a Trantrum live.
