Allowing people to change their legal sex was a ridiculous thing to do.

Couldn't agree more.

babyjellyfish · 30/05/2022 21:44

@donquixotedelamancha They have changed their legal sex though. Not their biological sex, but their legal sex.

We don't have legal genders.

Obviously the whole thing is a mess. I think probably we need a system where everyone has a legal sex (which cannot be changed) and people can have an optional legal gender if they wish.

It would massively help in a healthcare context.

And then for things like sports and prisons we could say legal sex only is what counts. And for things like rape therapy groups have some for legal sex alone and some for gender.

The blurring of language around sex and gender is what has got us into this mess.

FOJN · 30/05/2022 21:55

As a matter of law, a woman can have a penis.

This is correct, a woman can have a penis as a matter of law but not as a matter of biology.

I don't think we should hide this fact and we should thank the TRA's for broadcasting it. We need to make sure as many people as possible know that a GRC does not mean someone has surgical altered their genitals.

The law needs to change as it's patently ridiculous.

It was sold to the country as nice people like Hayley Cropper being able to go on holiday with Roy without being embarrassed at passport control.

The actor who played Hayley, Julie Hesmondhalgh, was deeply stung by the criticism that Corrie had cast an adult human female to play a man (Harold) who identified as a woman. (Oh the levels of irony ...) Anyway she decided to campaign for the GRA to assuage her guilt or summat. Certainly she was influential in massaging public support in favour of the GRA.

It was all very luvvy and deceptive and a lot of damage has been done.

Ellie56 · 30/05/2022 22:27

Stupid bloody woman.

Although when she comes out with shit like this I'm not sure she actually qualifies to be considered a woman at all. Angry

Not had time to read the thread, did Stella say if we could have them now, or do we have to wait until she's in Government?

earsup · 30/05/2022 23:16

She is our MP...loves the attention of anything frivolous....loves the yuppy garden parties in our area...the dog shows...blocks anyone who disagrees with her....they all love her here and think she is fab....her fb posts are heavily censored and filtered so it looks like everyone agrees with her...serious issues are often ignored....!!

We can have then now. But it's not easy to get one. I've got mine. The instructions I used are below to obtain one are below

say I'm a female with a penis three times, twizzle around a few times whilst trying to get your right leg into your best chinos whilst sprinkling unicorn years over your vulva with your left hand. Blindfolded!

then go straight to bed and in the morning...voila! Or it might be a reaction to the unicorn tears. I'm still waiting to see if the rash calms down.

IcakethereforeIam · 30/05/2022 23:31

@Boiledbeetle .....chinos? I don't think I'll bother.

It's a small price to pay surely. I mean the prize at the end...come on who wouldn't want a penis. It will make going to the loo so much quicker!! We can get those stand up toilet bowls in the women's cubicles it will be fab. Cut down on the queue time!

It's only a pair of chinos.. Come on. And what exactly IS your problem with chinos? Huh? Huh? Come on explain!!

TheBiologyStupid · 30/05/2022 23:40

A rolled up copy of The Times was good enough Virginia Woolf, IIRC?

IcakethereforeIam · 30/05/2022 23:43

Sorry MN, I did come across a bit chinophobic. A penis would be handy for picnics and I've always wanted to write my name in the snow, without peeing down my leg. I...I'll think about it!

To be honest I keep some cardboard throwaway sheewee types things in the car for occasions where standing would be erm preferable! You will sting me in my behind only once damn nettles!

Not a very useful tip now most of us read it online though.

It's going to take a lot of practice, and a lot of water to get to the m icakethereforeIam!

I've got an old fashioned fairy liquid bottle you could borrow. To practice with that's what we used to use to keep up with boys!

‘As a matter of law, a woman can have a penis.’

As a matter of law, ‘woman’ still refers to people with female biology (ONS case). The GRA allows some people with penises to change their legal sex markers and to be treated as women for most purposes. It does not make them women.

Yes, spot on. 👏

Whilst possibly unintentional, this is far superior to all my penis jokes 🤣

God, she's still going. She's attacked Jon Pike for saying things in his article in the Critic which he didn't say (it was Kathleen Stock in a different article). And of course she's doubling down again. It's actually getting a bit weird.

Seriously? So she can't tell the difference between different women's groups, different philosophers or different publications?

Does she remember which political party she belongs to, at least?

NecessaryScene · 31/05/2022 13:03

I guess it's all consistent with her difficulty telling sexes apart.

NecessaryScene · 31/05/2022 13:05

Just a thought: do we know if she knows what a penis actually is, or is she getting it muddled up with, I don't know, an elbow?

If she's confused about that, maybe that might explain some of this.

Floisme · 31/05/2022 13:23

To channel my inner Mrs Merton: I wonder why former deputy leadership candidate Stella Creasy is suddenly so intent on raising her public profile?
