Stella Creasy has doubled down on her TWAW position in today's Telegraph www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/stella-creasy-jk-rowling-wrong-woman-can-have-penis/

@nauticant just read her tweets on your link, and the replies, turns out there's a button you can press and more tweets appear. Who knew?

Bloody hell her views were skewed and as it's now years down the line I suspect there's not enough treatment available that would help her with her Stockholm syndrome. She is completely captured isn't she.

You know I think I may have to bite the bullet and actually join Twitter after all this!

tabbycatstripy · 28/05/2022 08:24

‘I'm struggling to think of the achievements.’

Being an MP who went to Oxbridge probably makes people treat her as if she’s very clever when she’s not especially.

nauticant · 28/05/2022 08:32

I recall hearing recently that being able to see replies to a tweet is a functionality that is only provided to some twitter accounts Boiledbeetle. You're one of the lucky ones being able to access that functionality.

BraveBananaBadge · 28/05/2022 08:35

A profile in a broadsheet, photo shoot, and the headline that sums you up is 'I think women can have penises'. I'd die of embarrassment.

WakeWaterWalk · 28/05/2022 08:39

She always when I read her or listen to her strikes me as a "stupid- clever" person.
In that she's obviously very capable of getting on and getting into positions of power. But there's no discernible "content".
Now this is far from unusual but I never understand those who rate her iyswim.
Which is a long winded way of saying I'm not remotely surprised and would in fact have been more stunned by any bravery shown in going against the flow.

tabbycatstripy · 28/05/2022 08:44

She studied SPS at Cambridge and has a PhD from the LSE. On paper she’s smart but I don’t see it in terms of the things she says.

tabbycatstripy · 28/05/2022 08:48

I might be wildly wrong here but when she accuses Pike of using ‘pseudoscientific terms’ she says he said ‘homeostasis’, but he didn’t. He said ‘homeostatic property cluster’, which seems to be a way of saying you can sort things into categories based on a set of stable properties that more or less (almost always) remain stable in that identifiable group. I don’t think it’s anything to do with chemical homeostasis.

But what do I know (actually very little!)?

tabbycatstripy · 28/05/2022 08:52

Her latest: ‘We do have words which define biology - female isn’t one which is commonly and consistently used solely for sex categories alone. I’m not ‘taking away’ anything and indeed challenging patriarchy directly as even without biological differences still think would oppress women!’

No, Stella, female has an objective meaning. People can misuse words, and that is what you are doing.

zurala · 28/05/2022 08:53

Can anyone post the full text please?

Article is accessible here, I think:

Stella Creasy studied at the last Cambridge college to admit women (in 1988). The answer to sex-based discrimination is not to eliminate sex but to eliminate discrimination.

Stella also got elected through an all women shortlist (the original kind)

JulesJules · 28/05/2022 09:13

Was reading this last night on twitter with my jaw on the floor. Does she not realise how utterly stupid she sounds?

Jon Pike has done an excellent twitter thread in response twitter.com/runthinkwrite/status/1530335492495101952

babyjellyfish · 28/05/2022 09:13

Stella had an absolute nightmare on Twitter last night.

I can't believe I used to think she was one of the good ones.

Complete intellectual and moral vacuum, that one.

Highlyquestionablehoumous · 28/05/2022 09:13

Christ, I feel like I am back in 2018 reading that article! What is she thinking?

Coord · 28/05/2022 09:16

Stella Creasy is my local MP in Walthamstow - she's always been great in terms of being very engaged with the community.

She is so wrong on this though. I'm glad she's getting trawled on Twitter, because last time this issue came up on the local Facebook group (which she engages with a lot) she was almost universally validated. It's a problem to oppose her when you will be seen as 'hateful' by people in your close area and using your real name on Facebook.

tabbycatstripy · 28/05/2022 09:18

She’s back on it this morning.

If Labour ever get their hands on power women are stuffed, absolutely stuffed.

Once legislated away it will take decades to get our rights back.

The parliamentary Labour Party need a complete change of personnel. They are positively dangerous, Rosie Duffield and Tonia Antoniazzi excepted.

Exactly

Very dangerous

I feel anger over this

Thelnebriati · 28/05/2022 09:31

I'm glad she's nailed her colours to the mast and I wish more public figures would do the same so we can get whatever this is over with.

AtrociousCircumstance · 28/05/2022 09:35

The abominable gaslighting at play here.

Freeze/Flee/Fight/Fawn - SC is in the fawn mode in response to this issue. Appealing to the oppressive force, trying to keep it sweet, cow-towing.

It’s unforgivable for a woman with any kind of profile or position of influence to betray women like this.

NecessaryScene · 28/05/2022 09:37

Meanwhile, why she's wittering on like this, the practical effect of this wittering continues:

“This is a nightmare”: Female Inmate Speaks Out Against Male Transfers

Does Creasy care at all?

Or does she think she's addressed that with this throwaway comment from her interview?

"Do I recognise that there are very real concerns about refuges and safe spaces? Yes."

I'm not terribly reassured.

I understand your point of view. It's a level of stupidity which demands an explanation just so that I can reassure myself I'm not going mad. At this point I'm prepared to start praying for a left of centre party to talk some sense.

I rarely use the word stupid because it's so often used as an insult to dismiss someone but here I mean it as the dictionary defines it: lacking in intelligence or common sense.

donquixotedelamancha · 28/05/2022 09:44

I don't know what this 'Stonewall dollar' is, @SpindleSheWrote. All money in a Stonewall context seems to flow in one direction only and that is into SW's coffers.

No, buying MPs is one of things they do spend heavily on. A lot of those expensive salaries are lobbyists and a large part of the other costs are events for people like Stella.

The Stonewall brand is hugely valuable to MPs in the urban south.
