Matt Walsh Thinks He's Leading the Woman's Movement

I've seen a lot of respected feminist posters excited about this documentary, which on its own may contain useful content. But I want to ask, why promote a misogynist just because he has the right talking points on gender ideology? Women are about to lose abortion rights in my country. Matt Walsh has said women who are pro-choice are "repulsive."

I urge you to check out this thread on Ovarit where women have documented all the work feminists have been doing already, and how Walsh ignores us. Walsh sees this GC issue not through feminist eyes, but as a way to push his own brand and claim himself leader of this issue. Please stop falling for it.

"Our country had a hate crime shooting this weekend - 10 Black Americans targeted and killed for their race. The gunman's manifesto referenced Replacement Theory, a theory which is espoused by Tucker Carlson, another man many on this site some of you have no problem "agreeing with.""

Drivel. Tucker Carlson hasn't killed anyone or encouraged anyone to kill people. Quite the opposite in fact. He's one of the few anti-war voices in the mainstream.

He isn't in any way responsible for that mass shooting in the same way that the average Muslim isn't responsible for fundamentalist Muslim terrorism or the average Christian isn't responsible for fundamentalist Christians bombing abortion clinics.

This ridiculous woke nonsense you are peddling will actually stop you making any progress at all. You need to grow up and stop thinking that everyone who disagrees with you is evil and that you can only associate with the morally pure.

beastlyslumber · 11/06/2022 15:08

I've just watched the film... it's absolutely brilliant. It covers all the important issues in a way that anyone can understand what the problems are.

The only negative thing about it is that the people who really need to see it won't watch it.

As for the complaining it's not a film by/about feminism... if we wanted a different film, we should have made it.

beastlyslumber · 11/06/2022 15:08

The sections with Scott Newgent were absolutely heartbreaking.

It is odd to see someone like Matt Walsh forensically taking apart gender ideology, knowing that he belongs to a religion which believes in transubstantiation. I wonder whether his current path might lead him to reconsider his own religious beliefs in any way. Or perhaps it might lead him closer to becoming a feminist, or feminist ally, if you don't believe men can become feminists.

I was just thinking that this is one person with a religious belief trying to pick holes in the logic of another person with a quasi-religious belief. The only difference between them is that we are currently lucky enough to live in a secular society where it is acceptable to be critical of religion but somehow gender ideology has managed to embed itself into all our institutions and to be critical is a sin. How is this being allowed to happen?

"A religion" cannot believe in something; only a person can. Has Matt Walsh said that he, personally, believes in transubstantialism? Did you know that being a Catholic does not mean that you blindly adhere to every and all teachings, most especially those that are meant as analogies? Did you know that lots of Catholics don't yet still see themselves as Catholics? Did you know that lots of Catholics have advanced science degrees, even PhDs? That lots of Catholics keep their personal beliefs to themselves, and do not go around demanding that others believe the same?
(Sorry; I meant just to lurk, as I have (mostly) for the last few days. But I was once quite active on this board until I got turned off by the rigid dogmas of some.)

Malahaha · 17/06/2022 11:11

Sorry again: transubstantiation, not transubstantialism. I need to debate that subject a bit more with real Catholics, so that I learn to spell it!

MangyInseam · 17/06/2022 14:08

I am pretty sure MW believes in transubstantiation, I think he might take a Thomistic view, which is pretty common among Catholics.

I'm not quite sure why the quote in bold has been attributed to me (I didn't post that bit). Everything you say about Catholics I am aware of (well apart from Catholics not yet seeing themselves as Catholic). For me it's not relevant what parts of Catholicism MW or any other Catholic believes. As far as I am concerned it is faith-based and the important thing is that it does not (at least in this country) impact upon a person like me who does not share the belief. I am am able to openly declare my agnosticism without people telling me that I am God-phobic or that I hate religious people or risking being sacked from my job. Religious ideology does not dictate law and policy in the UK. This is not the case with gender identity ideology.

Signalbox · 17/06/2022 18:16

I've realised the bold is me quoting someone else.

JKR isn't happy with Matt Walsh

Endless death and rape threats, threats of loss of livelihood, employers targeted, physical harassment, family address posted online with picture of bomb-making manual aren't 'mean comments'. If you don't yet understand what happens to women who stand up on this issue, back off.

please be my friend, Jo. Pretty please.

what a tosser

WarriorN · 10/07/2022 21:09

Matt should know by now queen JK doesn't bow down to any man.

WarriorN · 10/07/2022 21:10

She made an excellent point that his film was good but to not fling his ego around targeting individual women.

Helen Joyce couldn't wait to slide into Matt Walsh's DMs when he offered, he must have thought JKR would do the same.

WarriorN · 10/07/2022 21:57

Had he just talked down to Helen and chastised another woman?

He'd just chastised Angela Wild IIRC, although that didn't stop Helen.

It’s like they’re keeping a Burn Book isn’t it? Utterly pathetic.

Misstache · 11/07/2022 03:03

I love that JK is standing up for black women.

Horatioa · 11/07/2022 11:06

It's terrible watching Matt Walsh and other US MRAs turning on JKR now, I thought we were in this fight together.

It might be terrible but it’s hardly shocking, knowing all the vile he spouts and what he thinks of feminists.

JKR on the other hand, is an absolute star and handles it all perfectly in her stride.

She's dealt with worse. Hopefully these fragile egoed MRA men might at least hold off on the death and rape threats more than their "progressive" counterparts.

WeeBisom · 11/07/2022 12:29

So JKR has publicly told Matt Walsh off, and this is now trending on Twitter...and the TRAs are interpreting this as JKR supporting him! Just...how?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/07/2022 12:30

She said that she appreciated his video, as part of it.

Completely agree. She's been more than civil to him. He's such a smug misogynist.

Yep. He's a misogynist, we're all aware of this. At no point has Matt Walsh been on the side of women.

JKR continues to shine.
