Transwoman claims Tampax have offered sponsorship

Dylan, currently on 'Day 47 of being a girl' claims Tampax have been in touch.

www.instagram.com/p/CbiQWjUpXXd/

Why?

'Dylan was using a public restroom when a fellow woman called out if she had a tampon, Dylan shyly replying ‘no’.
Afterwards, she decided to buy some to keep in the house and in her purse for all her girlfriends, ending the video with “women support women.” It seemed that Tampax were quite interested in working with Dylan afterwards. What an incredible outcome!'

How much money are Tampax offering Dylan? I'd like figures.

Wow…a lot of snidey bs on here today.

Dylan may not menstruate but by having a tampon on hand she is potentially not only helping a fellow woman out if they are in need, and probably feeling more included by being part of the process.

I’ve heard of many a cis-gendered male carrying sanitary products in their cars or bags, just in case one of their friends gets caught out…they always get talked about like heroes for their understanding. I don’t get why people are being so mean about a transgendered female doing the same…

Maybe a lot of people should take a look at themselves and remember the old adage ‘if you have don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.’

Really?
A man (I don't think men need to be called cis either) who carries San Pro?
Helping out a fellow woman? 😜🤔
More like creepy.
I have never asked a man/a 'fellow woman', or a man dressed as a woman for San Pro, as I doubt have you.
And stop it with BeKind.

I haven't frequented public loos in a good while but don't they still have dispensers in?
(Also never asked or been asked since the dark ages of school when there was a small fad to announce you had started, Dr Whites were the in thing)

GoodWeatherforDucks · 28/04/2022 23:37

@Lynnthesearesexnotgenderpeople

I know!! I was convinced it was parody when he asserted all wide-eyed that it was EXPENSIVE being a ‘girl’. He of course was only referring to all the makeup and hair-styling and dresses and shoes and manicures. He won’t ever have to take in to account for himself the loss of potential earnings that women typically experience when bringing up children, He won’t even have to pay for his own sanpro, instead receiving zillions of (redundant) complimentary tampons in a big sponsorship deal. (Not sure I believe that part TBH). But I’m afraid that overall, I think it’s real!

Before the thread self destructs...

Most women wouldn't dream of asking a stranger for a tampon...not because they're too embarrassed to, but because they're too embarrassed for the woman they're asking because they know she'll be squirming - torn between offering the scruffy fluffy one lurking with the lone mint imperial and faded receipts or saying no to save face.

True, very, very true.

Was that before or after they discussed lipstick shades, passed each other paper towels and giggled about have pillow fights in short pyjamas?

dying here Grin

Dylan's first day as a 'girl' certainly strikes me as a parody. She cried three times, puts lip gloss on and so on.

Gah!

that’s what we’re supposed to do?

53 years of this and I’m still getting this girling wrong

😑

NaturalScone · 28/04/2022 23:57

just checked the instagram, just another cheesy, motherfucker pushing their face into mine for ego purposes. So fucking tired of this, i dont GAF about gender, this is this one person's personal rainbow. It's every cheapo shit thing i loathe about social media.
Perhaps if we didn't live in such a toxic reality, men could enjoy dressing as girls for no big deal. No one addresses the fucking toxicity, we just get the 'cure' instead.

In all my 40 years of menstruating (bar pregnancies and the merina coil) I have never asked a stranger for a tampon. On the extremely odd occasion I was caught short, I'd make do with a wad of loo roll until I could get to a shop and buy some sanpro.

And most wocba's I know (I don't know if that acronym is even allowed anymore (woman of childbearing age)) have an emergency tampon/pad in their handbag - sorry, purse if they carry one, or car glovebox.

Fantasy rather than reality, I feel

Same here. I've never asked or been asked for a tampon, or heard of anyone else who has. It wouldn't bother me. I'd happily give one. But as you say, I'd just use a wad of loo roll in an emergency.

SingingSands · 28/04/2022 21:52

But... Tampax have offered "sponsorship"? To do what? Stand in public toilets and dispense tampons? Isn't there already a machine for that?

That made me laugh out loud - apologies if I've mistaken indignation for humour, but this whole thing is so ridiculous it's beyond satire...

UniversalAunt · 29/04/2022 00:01

‘I look forward to Dylan doucmenting all the sexism they've faced being a girl/woman. The glass ceiling they've encountered and how at work being woman means your often told your sensitive etc. You know the real challenges us women face’

Don’t forget the pay cut, the all important sex based difference of income over lifetime earnings.

BTW, never been asked for tampon or towels in 50 years of using the
ladies.

EmpressoftheMundane · 29/04/2022 00:02

To be fair, I have been asked for a tampon a few times. Most recently in the loo at St Bart’s hospital Bryan employee. I only use pads, but the recipients have always been grateful for the pads. Maybe I’m just approachable. 🤷🏻‍♀️
That said not sure why tampax wants to fawn over people who don’t actually menstruate. Maybe they see a whole new market opening up, selling tampons to people who don’t need them.

Humbold · 29/04/2022 00:14

TitsinAbsentia I've not read through the whole thread but saw that it had grown since I first read it and wondered why. Usual case of someone turning up to scold us all - yawn...

I just wanted to say that I thought your description of a forlorn tampon was pure poetry "the scruffy fluffy one lurking with the lone mint imperial and faded receipts". It almost made me nostalgic for my periods - I haven't had one for two years.

Thank you.

WellThatsMeScrewed · 29/04/2022 00:19

Day 15697 of being a girl and I still have not been asked for a tampax in a public toilet.

UniversalAunt · 29/04/2022 00:19

If there is the faintest truth in Tampax brand getting involved in this gender identity bollocks, then I’ll be boycotting any Tampax point of sale. Likewise Allways, sanpro also made by Proctor & Gamble.

Like hell you have. At most there might be ,as a poster has said the odd dad or two who has bought a packet in an emergency and left it in the car or similar situation.

WellThatsMeScrewed · 29/04/2022 00:21

I tell you what would be heroic of men? Recognising sex based rights and staying the fuck out of womens toilets.

Slothtoes · 29/04/2022 00:22

I think this might be the ‘This Never Happens’ exception that proves the rule..

notangelinajolie · 29/04/2022 00:22

The thing is Dylan .. (I know you are reading) women don’t call out for tampons in woman’s toilets. Least of all to random people.
Nope never happened to me in all my 58 years.

Pallisers · 29/04/2022 00:28

Women hide behind feminism when they’re actually being incredibly nasty and rude…

This is so predictable. Women why can't you be NICE! that whole thing about wanting rights and all is just you being nasty and rude! Rude to men. Yawn.

SushiShopSearch · 29/04/2022 00:35

Haven't read the full thread but why would Dylon want tampons? Does he know what we do with them? (Obviously not)

WrongWayApricot · 29/04/2022 00:35

I see Dylan still uses they pronouns too because "there are days when... being a woman is hard and so I just want to look in the mirror and see a person" Hmm that's quite the Freudian slip.

Well they do need something to cry about three times a day

puffalo · 29/04/2022 00:40

I saw Dylan’s original video on TikTok a few weeks ago it must have been.

It did strike me odd as in my many years of menstruating, I too have never

a) asked a stranger for a tampon
b) been asked for a tampon by a stranger

It might sound grim but I’d literally rather fashion some sort of make shift pad out of toilet roll and then rush to a shop/rush home etc than ask a stranger for one.

Plus, if I’m being completely honest, you can tell that Dylan isn’t a biological female due to their features and voice so if I was so desperate to ask a stranger, it wouldn’t be them? Nothing to do with transphobia, it would just be utterly pointless because they simply wouldn’t need any so why would they have any. Why would I embarrass myself asking when I knew the answer would be no?

The entire situation seems completely bizarre and just reminds me of that awful person from a few years ago (their name completely escapes me, the one who wanted a bikini wax despite not fully transitioning and was all over Twitter). Baffling.
