Transwoman claims Tampax have offered sponsorship

Dylan, currently on 'Day 47 of being a girl' claims Tampax have been in touch.

www.instagram.com/p/CbiQWjUpXXd/

Why?

'Dylan was using a public restroom when a fellow woman called out if she had a tampon, Dylan shyly replying ‘no’.
Afterwards, she decided to buy some to keep in the house and in her purse for all her girlfriends, ending the video with “women support women.” It seemed that Tampax were quite interested in working with Dylan afterwards. What an incredible outcome!'

Well it's quite possible given Tampax are made by the same company which removed the female sign from Always

www.independent.co.uk/life-style/women/always-sanitary-products-female-symbol-inclusive-transgender-female-erasure-a9164671.html

And which is the same company which donated £10,000 to Mermaids just last year

pgnewsroom.co.uk/news-releases/news-details/2020/PG-Commits-to-2021-Acts-of-Good-in-2021-and-Inspires-Millions-through-Lead-with-Love-Campaign/

Most likely with the majority of their income coming from mums like us doing our weekly shop.

It is NOT transphobic (which has lost all meaning anyway, as it's the battle cry of the handmaidens) to suggest that men who think so much about periods and period products, wonder who might be having their period and need products, like to hand out said products IN THE WOMEN'S bathrooms, have some kind of unnatural interest (unless they're a gynaecologist) in menstruation.
Why would that be?
As for the male "friend" who carries sanpro for their friends, while I would still suggest this is not the norm, the problem is that this "Dylan" person is doing it while women are in their OWN bathroom, at what is probably quite a vulnerable and potentially embarrassing moment.
Don't try to make out it's normal for men to frolic around with baskets of tampons for their female pals.
It's not.

Anyway, thread deletion imminent. The magic word has already been spoken.

The transphobic posts have been removed - that’s why you don’t see any on here. The ones that were nasty and vile, they’re all gone.

i don’t think that the remaining posts are transphobic, insensitive maybe, but each to their own

but it’s the deleted comments that I was responding to…you will be able To see that half a dozen or more have been removed - they were shocking

puffyisgood · 28/04/2022 22:40

I saw a few clips on this person's social media. I certainly don't think they're a Jessica Yaniv style pervert with a fetish of some kind for all things menstrual. The act (and it is an act, this person is a comedian, this media is their livelihood, documenting a trans journey isn't a basis for an entire career but it could be a useful springboard/way to build up a fanbase)
seems sincere enough, this person clearly has a whole host sensibilities which, in traditional gender terms, tend towards the 'feminine'. This doesn't come close to making her a 'woman' in the sense that I understand and use the term but I can accept that it does using other (imo objectively wrong) definitions.

Summerhillsquare · 28/04/2022 22:40

Hutchy16 · 28/04/2022 22:31

Also…perhaps you should Google the definition of sexist haha 🙈

Is it "coming on to the Feminism board of a women's platform to tell women to be nice or be quiet"?

TitsInAbsentia · 28/04/2022 22:42

Before the thread self destructs...

Most women wouldn't dream of asking a stranger for a tampon...not because they're too embarrassed to, but because they're too embarrassed for the woman they're asking because they know she'll be squirming - torn between offering the scruffy fluffy one lurking with the lone mint imperial and faded receipts or saying no to save face.

TitsInAbsentia · 28/04/2022 22:46

Plus tampax are crap anyway, why would you want something that extends like a slinky....only girth will stop the flood 😂

This thread has covered ALL the points of the last thread on the same subject.
All of the same observations have been made.
The last thread was deleted because someone took offence to biological reality.
And their opinions shut down a discussion because their opinions are more important / inclusive / kind than the VAST majority of women who can see this situation for what it is.

This thread will be buried too.
I will personally send everyone a tampon if this thread gets to 1000 posts.

Cluelessmouse · 28/04/2022 21:59

probably feeling more included by being part of the process

women have been penalised for centuries for having periods. Today many women still suffer in extreme pain, discomfort and period poverty due to periods. How nice for Dylan to get to be included in that, and if dylan is to be believed, also financially gain from that.

This is so true - and when white women are lauded for wearing their hair in styles that black women are penalised for, it is quite rightly called out as appropriation. How is this different?

Why should we be 'including Dylan in being part of the process'? He has no right to appropriate our bodies and our biology in this way.

This one should be fine now. The disgusting stuff is gone

MsFogi · 28/04/2022 22:49

What are the chances - the one time in human history that a woman has yelled from the loo stall for someone to thow a tampon over there happened to be a trans person hanging about in the women's lavatories. Maybe a MNer who is better at maths than me could work out what the probability of that genuinely happing are...maybe Tampax would like to include the stat in their campaign, they could even call it "It never happens"

SingToTheSky · 28/04/2022 22:52

Strikemepink · 28/04/2022 21:37

It has been for a very long time, even 20 years ago I remember my friend telling me how her transsexual friends would carry tampons, it’s all part of the illusion / thrill of passing.

And it’s always tampons isn’t it, not boring old pads. Can’t think why 🤔

DomesticatedZombie · 28/04/2022 22:53

the stories of men with sanitary products are regularly shown on quora, Facebook, boredpanda

Yeah, I don't doubt there may be men who carry sanpro around with them. What I'd disagree on is their reasons for doing so and whether women would call them 'heroes' or ... something else.

Hutchy16, the last thread was deleted without ANY transphobic comments.
Unless you count saying males do not have periods as being transphobic.
Or suggesting that such males who DO takes in interest in such things as perhaps having another motive.
These things are both true, and yet the thread was removed.

As has every thread on periods been removed in the last few weeks.
It seems to offend some lurkers or Twiterrati that women do not like their biological processes being appropriated for clickbait and validation.

It makes you wonder why people keep listing the threads over and over.

and this one in particular, clearly Dylan is lying for fame/notoriety…it’s a waste of time posting about it.

but my comments earlier that I seem to have been getting unnecessary grief for, were nothing to do with Dylan or the truth of this post and everything to do with the vile hate that some decided to spew.

now the one about changing rooms and gender identity that is also up…that one is a real thing that actually warrants a discussion

but again I will remind you, the rude people who have been spewing hate have had their comments removed…so you don’t need to get angry with me, none of my comments are aimed at you or anyone making actual sensible points…it is all about the nasty, spiteful trolls whose posts have already been deleted on this thread.

Add me to the list of “this has never happened - in over 50 years of public toilet use
And me!!

AngelinaFibres · 28/04/2022 21:51

And wearing some very big, practical, comfy pants.

Paper maternity knickers. I secretly loved wearing those.

Back to the point though.

The only thing requested in a toilet, is toilet paper. Often started with a tentative, not shy, "erm, hi. Erm. Does anyone have any toilet roll in theirs?"
Followed by the miraculous appearance of wadded up toilet roll from under the door.

Haha for me I would be saving face by trying not to have to hand out the ‘super, massive, practically a nappy’ sanitary pads that I use, over to the slim, young thing who only needs a low flow tampon.

i would be mortified

Lynnthesearesexnotgenderpeople · 28/04/2022 23:14

If this account is real, then it's honestly some of the most offensively misogynistic stuff I have ever seen.

It's like Dylan saw Caitlyn 'the hardest thing about being a woman is deciding what to wear' Jenner, and was like 'you call that misogyny? Hold my beer...sorry, I mean Cosmopolitan'.

It just can't be real?!

BackAgain777 · 28/04/2022 23:20

Lynnthesearesexnotgenderpeople - I've spent the last year or so in a permanent state of "surely this can't be REAL?".

As I'm sure many other women have. (Not specifically about the Dylan situation, but the mess we find ourselves in, in general).
I think a lot of us are just waiting for the punchline which never comes.
And I think it's our incredulity and utter astonishment that things have gotten as bad as they have, that has allowed a lot of this crap to slip under the radar.
We just can't actually acknowledge a lot of this shite, because it IS so unbelievable.
Men in womens, toilets, prisons, changing rooms, boys in girls toilets, men in women's sports, naked men with erections in female spas, children having puberty blocked, people denying biology, ideology taught in schools as if it were fact....the list goes on and on.
And yet here we are.
There is no punchline coming.

Hasn't it just.

I first heard it from that Yaniv person and now every other transwoman is being asked for a tampon.

In my 28 years on this earth I have not once been asked by a stranger in a restroom for a tampon and I don't know one woman who would call out to strangers on the toilet asking for one

aussietrina · 28/04/2022 23:24

50 year old Aussie here. I've been asked once and that was by a close friend. Never been asked in public or heard woman asking others in public toilets.
