Transwoman claims Tampax have offered sponsorship

Dylan, currently on 'Day 47 of being a girl' claims Tampax have been in touch.

www.instagram.com/p/CbiQWjUpXXd/

Why?

'Dylan was using a public restroom when a fellow woman called out if she had a tampon, Dylan shyly replying ‘no’.
Afterwards, she decided to buy some to keep in the house and in her purse for all her girlfriends, ending the video with “women support women.” It seemed that Tampax were quite interested in working with Dylan afterwards. What an incredible outcome!'

Never in my life have I been asked for a tampon in a public loo.

Never in my life have a asked a random "fellow" woman for tampon in a public loo.

Never in my life have I "shyly" said anything in a public loo.

I must have led a very sheltered woman life over the last decades seing as managed that on day 47 or being a girl.

satire
săt′īr″
noun
A literary work in which human foolishness or vice is attacked through irony, derision, or wit.
The branch of literature constituting such works.
Irony, sarcasm, or caustic wit used to attack or expose human foolishness or vice.

So Dylan thinks that by mocking the 'foolishness' of women, Dylan is using 'wit'.

...Dylan managed that...

Sorry!

WhiteFire · 28/04/2022 21:30

Yeah I don't carry around tampons because despite what the woman says in the stupid advert not only can I feel them, they bloody (haha) hurt.

Conveniently, when confronted about sexist bullshit, Dylan says 'this video is satire comedy!'

So if I, as a white woman, started doing Tik Tok videos taking the piss out of offensive stereotypes about black people in the name of 'satire comedy', that would be ok? I would get loads of black people lauding me in the comments and telling me how great I was?

In all my 40 years of menstruating (bar pregnancies and the merina coil) I have never asked a stranger for a tampon. On the extremely odd occasion I was caught short, I'd make do with a wad of loo roll until I could get to a shop and buy some sanpro.

And most wocba's I know (I don't know if that acronym is even allowed anymore (woman of childbearing age)) have an emergency tampon/pad in their handbag - sorry, purse if they carry one, or car glovebox.

Fantasy rather than reality, I feel

Or buy one from the little machine almost all public toilets have then get annoyed with yourself that you’ve paid £1 for one tampon. I’ve made do many a times with the loo roll in an emergency.

However, if you’ve seen Dylan’s TikTok, quite a few unusual and unlikely things seem to happen to them. For example, when changing in the male gym room, a man apparently entered and was shocked/embarrassed, saying ‘sorry I thought this was the men’s room!’ Following that, Dylan used the women’s room and apparently made ‘friends’ with a woman changing in there. Firstly a bit unbelievable that a man apparently mistook Dylan for a woman, and secondly I’ve never made friends while getting changed for yoga. I’m generally just getting changed for yoga.

It has been for a very long time, even 20 years ago I remember my friend telling me how her transsexual friends would carry tampons, it’s all part of the illusion / thrill of passing.

GrouchyKiwi · 28/04/2022 21:37

I went to an all-girls school and was never asked for a tampon/pad there, when you're more likely to be caught short since things might not have settled yet. We just whacked in a load of loo roll and thanked fuck our kilts were red.

Manekinek0 · 28/04/2022 21:37

I saw the original tiktok and thought what a load of bullshit. I have irregular periods and I'm not well organized but would never ask a stranger for a sanitary product. What is it was a child or elderly lady in the next cubicle. I do what I thought everyone else did and shove a wad of toilet roll in my knickers until I could go to the shop or ask a friend.

They have also been on tiktok recently crying about some of the negative responses. I originally thought it was a parody account, they don't seem genuine.

CorvusPurpureus · 28/04/2022 21:39

My ex husband apparently carries a pack of pads in the glove compartment of his car, because several years ago dd1 unexpectedly started her period whilst travelling somewhere, & he had to pull in at a service station to buy her some. She had pads at his house, so the rest of the 'emergency' packet stayed in the car after they arrived there.

She & her younger sister have settled cycles these days & are accustomed to sorting themselves out, & find it quite funny that he's still driving around with the same dusty pack of pads lurking under the chewing gum & god knows what.

But y'know, fair play to him. His dd was caught out, he sorted the immediate problem without fuss, & he's left the rest of the pack in his car lest it ever happen again.

If he were offering them out to random women, I think an entirely different construction would be placed on this.

It's always tampons isn't it? Never super-plus sanitary towels.

Yes, I have noticed this. I wonder why? 🤔

Gilesgoesformiles · 28/04/2022 21:44

I’m an actual woman. I’m 45 years old. I’d say I’ve been asked for a tampon by a stranger once, maybe twice in my life. This didn’t happen. Gross

nepeta · 28/04/2022 21:45

Sanitary towels would make more sense as everyone can use those but not everyone can use tampons.

I first mistyped sanitary towels as sanitary trowels...

They sound comfortable. Grin

Summerhillsquare · 28/04/2022 21:48

Hey @hutchy16 - I "don't have anything nice to say" - bore off with your condescending sexist nonsense.

DolphinaPD · 28/04/2022 21:49

It's so weird. This obsession with tampons.

I'm surprised they aren't taken with towels because they could actually wear those, but they can't even pretend to use tampons.

AngelinaFibres · 28/04/2022 21:49

lovelyweathertoday · 28/04/2022 18:47

Let me remember all those times I've heard women in toilets calling out for spare sanitary products.

... never ...

I have never ,ever, ever asked a stranger or a friend in any situation if they have a spare tampon. I can honestly say that in all my 57 years no one has ever asked me for any sanitary products. Biological women are either prepared and carry something in their bag or make a temporary pad with loo roll and go to a shop as soon as possible. Biological women, ie the humans who actually have periods, learn all this very quickly. Why on earth would a biological man think he should be carrying tampons or be in the female toilets.

Yeah but sanitary towels - especially super plus plus - aren’t as, I don’t know, what’s the word I could use here?? - as a phallic-shaped tampon that you insert inside yourself.

AngelinaFibres · 28/04/2022 21:51

Imissmoominmama · 28/04/2022 20:48

I wonder whether Dylan carries a supply of Tena Lady, for us oldies with knackered pelvic floors.

Perhaps that would mess with his romantic idea of the sisterhood- wrinkly and smelling ever so slightly of piss…

And wearing some very big, practical, comfy pants.

MadKittenWoman · 28/04/2022 21:51

I have actually been asked, and probably asked myself, but this is still bollocks.😄

Horological · 28/04/2022 21:51

Dylan shyly replied no

Maybe with a coy, lispy voice?

SingingSands · 28/04/2022 21:52

But... Tampax have offered "sponsorship"? To do what? Stand in public toilets and dispense tampons? Isn't there already a machine for that?

IcakethereforeIam · 28/04/2022 21:53

If the cost of living crisis gets too bad, I'll be outside the public conveniences with a cardboard sign: will validate tw for tampax.
