Yes, our Jo is a bit of a nitwit when it comes to the debate about transwomen in general.
I dunno. I mean, there's no denying that she's done well with her Harry Potter books. But she does come across as somewhat cretinous Daily Mail-ish when she starts to talk about transwomen and related stuff. It really isn't her forte and I feel slightly embarrassed for her. She got herself embroiled in it all some years ago, and now it seems she can't get out of it.
It's even more cringe-inducing, to be honest, when the GC crowd hang on to her every word, as though she's an intellectual colossus on the subject. She isn't. She's just a very lucky novelist.
Ach, whatever. I made my sister burst into tears about all this stuff, complaining of transwomen (though she'd never met a transwoman, or even knowingly seen one, in her entire 56 years) ... I don't want to do the same here, in lovely, cuddly and cosy Mumsnet. :)
