This shit hurts people like OJ so much more than it would hurt others though. His whole 'thing' is that he is such a Great Guy and that is basically the sole reason why he is right on everything and everyone should agree with him. Because he is on the 'Righteous Side' on every issue, he is the voice of virtue and compassion. No need for actual arguments or anything like that then, you see? Just knowing that you are on the Right Side of History when you agree with such a Great Guy such as Owen is enough.

Things like this rather shatter that whole set up, don't they?

DameHelena · 13/04/2022 11:23

Great news! Odious little twerp.

Hoardasurass · 13/04/2022 11:26

Hmm I suppose that we could look at this as a very important and necessary step forward. The guardian are now on official notice that they have a very nasty bully working for them who has form for bullying women who have the protected characteristic of belief (thank you maya) for expressing said belief, and not only has he repeatedly breached their social media policy but doesn't care. Unless they seriously clip his wings and have evidence of them doing so when he next goes after another colleague the guardian will be liable in an employment tribunal for his actions along with OJ. This could end very badly for the guardian

BacklashBacklash · 13/04/2022 11:27

But - but women wanting sex-based rights are literally violent. So all means to stop then opening their mouths and spweing hateful words are legitimate - throwing milkshakes over them, bullying them, punching them, threatening to rape and kill them. All righteous actions when used against bad people.

@hamstersarse

He is a massive prick and none of this is surprising but......I am against cancel culture in general and even Owen Jones doesn't deserve to be completely and utterly trashed in every way possible.

Yes, he may lose his job, but only if he has broken specific rules of employment, not just because some mob comes after him

How many women is he allowed to bully and harass before it breaks a specific rule of employment? I'd say '1', but you may differ on that.

Is it really 'cancel culture' to sack men who systematically abuse and bully women?

Rubidium · 13/04/2022 11:43

I wonder who leaked this to The Eye.

zafferana · 13/04/2022 11:45

When Suzanne Moore left The Guardian and said that she'd been bullied out of there I just knew LOJ was involved. Outrageous that the paper is still protecting him and that a month after the report was published upper management still don't know that Jones was found guilty of bullying a colleague. Odious little 'be kind' twerp. Isn't it always the ones who screech loudest about being bullied who are the real bullies?

NotBadConsidering · 13/04/2022 11:46

This is going to be interesting. How is LOJ going to defend himself? If he claims the attempts to have him held accountable for bullying women is cancel culture it makes him a hypocrite (which we already know):

"Cancel culture" is public figures using their privileged platforms to complain about people using social media to criticise them, normally because of their publicly expressed views about minorities who are hugely underrepresented in public life.

I predict he will gaslight everyone and pretend nothing has happened and there is nothing to see and ignore it all.

"OwenJonesIsAMisogynist" is trending on Twitter. Bless him.

Butfirstcoffees · 13/04/2022 11:51

If OJ believes TWAW he must also bully them too?

Or is just biological women he bullies?

Seems he does know there difference between the 2, if that's the case.

ilovebencooper · 13/04/2022 11:52

So glad this is out in the open. He bullies women and is a nasty misogynist.

eddiemairswife · 13/04/2022 12:00

He's like a Year6 show-off.

ControversialOpening · 13/04/2022 12:01

Sarah Ditum was the woman described as 'an unpleasant weird person' by LOJ.

@MrsOvertonsWindow

Day after day I'm reminded why it was such a positive act in cancelling my paid for Guardian subscription
me too - and I made sure I emailed them to tell them why.
everythingcrossed · 13/04/2022 12:18

Suzanne Moore has tweeted about it. Apparently OJ bullying her was not taken up by the Gdn because she was not staff Shock.

Strange, #OwenJonesIsAMisogynist was no. 1 trending in the UK a couple of minutes ago and now I can't see it listed at all Hmm

I do agree.

I am just uncomfortable with a mob mentality which is happy to discard due process because it makes 'us' as bad as him. Bringing down opponents shouldn't be gleeful imo, its uncooth Grin

There was a due process, an external report that the 'news'paper has yet to act on. How long are people supposed to keep quiet when his employers take no action?

It very much sounds like women should just be quiet about these things and let the men sort it out in their own good time. Like that ever achieved anything.

Looks like Twitter have removed the # from their trending algorithm.....

potniatheron · 13/04/2022 12:39

How delicious. I've been wondering for years how long OJ was going to be allowed to get away with it. Perhaps we are finally witnessing the beginning of the end.
I admire women like Suzanna Moore who ahve stood up publicly about their epxeriences of him.
He is one of those people so drunk on their own righteousness that they think it excuses the most horrible behaviour.

BacklashBacklash · 13/04/2022 12:41

Benjamin Butterworth dislikes him too?? I'd have thought they'd get on well.

Pluvia · 13/04/2022 12:42

Who on earth would have predicted that Little Owen Jones would turn out to be a man who loved bullying women? Hmm

TerraNovaTwo · 13/04/2022 12:44

Not only is OJ a misogynist, I believe him to be a covert narc. His gaslighting techniques are most ingenious.

hamstersarse · 13/04/2022 12:47

That's not what I think. He should be held responsible and appropriate consequences doled out.

It's the certain glee (is it bullying too?) that doesn't help the cause, which I presume is to show his arguments to be utter tosh and harmful to women?

Bullying is a notorious slippy concept, and by calling him All the Names (Twitter is bad right now on this), it is harder to defend a position. That's all. It gives him an easy way in which to play the victim
