Boris Speaks!

Sky News.

He thinks it's unfair for biological men to compete in women's sports.

He says it's important to preserve women's spaces.

Says he has a lot to learn about the issue but we have to be sensible.

Yes@CatherinaJTV. We know. We know that Boris is a lying hypocrite who impoverished the country to get a promotion and then presided over a string of parties during lockdown while others were fined £10000. We did notice that.

But every other party is chanting “transwomen are women” while lobbying for the erasure of women’s safe spaces and dignity and throwing away children’s safeguarding procedures. So there is no one else to vote for.

It sucks.

Quite. Why do you think we are so furious with Labour? Many of us would love to vote for a left-wing party/credible opposition. That is exactly the point.

Crcohetmonster · 06/04/2022 16:08

^this

lemongreentea · 06/04/2022 16:10

Well he's a liar, a cheat and as corrupt as they come. So good luck to those who believe him.

MadnessOfHamsters · 06/04/2022 16:13

We know that 12 years of Tory rule has hurt women across the country.

Right now women have a choice.

The Tory party do not particularly care about us, but neither are they openly hostile. Right now, they are definitely moving in the right direction.

Labour are actively hostile to women who want to protect their sex based rights. Complete silence on women being raped, hounded out of their jobs and threatened (expect the Tory party to start using the copious real life examples of this very soon, they know which way the wind is headed). And unfortunately not silent when it comes to publicly coming out with ridiculous reality denying slogans and complete guff (babies are born without a sex Hmm) and asserting that they will set womens rights back 100 years at least (self-ID, kicking dissenting women from the party).

For me it seems a very simple choice.

One party is clearly offering to recognise what a woman is, even if they aren’t bothered about doing much else.

The other is offering to permanently dismantle the meaning of the word ‘woman’, and in so doing, remove much of our ability to fight back.

No brainer.

ATeamAmy · 06/04/2022 16:15

@OvaHere

I don't disagree re womens spaces etc but on this board are absolutely rabid on this, you've lost all sense of proportion.

So you don't disagree with us but you think the women who have done all the legwork and grind pushing back on this (remembering that much of he grassroots campaigns began here on MN) are 'rabid' and have 'lost all sense of proportion"

Yeah okay then. Hmm

I'm seeing this a lot lately.

Person A who disagrees with T in female spaces is too afraid to speak.

Gobby Woman, who is prepared to put herself on the line, does the job.

Cheers and some vilification for Gobby Woman, but on the whole, she's brought around a shift in the narrative that's helped all women.

Person A says, I was GC all the way too, yay me, I'm part of this, let me reflect in Gobby's glory.

Person A then turns on Gobby, the job having been done, and says, Ooh, you are too militant, you consort with the wrong sort, I would never have done it the way you did it, you need to shut up now.

Person A gets round of applause for her moderate and "reasonable" stance from all the other "Person As" who also sat back and let Gobby do the hard yards.

Swayingpalmtrees · 06/04/2022 16:16

The next election may well be fought on the single issue of ‘do women exist’

^this!

We are may be freezing and starving, which is likely under any party to be fair because it is a global issue and a war, at least I will still have an identity and my girls will be at less risk in hospitals, changing rooms and toilets when they are not forced to share with bio men.
For me it is more important than anything else - why wouldn't it be? Anyone minimising this issue are either completely thick or male or both.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 06/04/2022 16:16

Yep, exactly that.

Terfydactyl · 06/04/2022 16:17

and you think the Tories give a rat's arse about your daughter
Seriously

Well no its boris after all. He would more likely want to chain her to the kitchen sink, but at least he recognises she is a woman.
We get our single sex spaces back just by voting for a moron, we can work on the kitchen sink bit after torys get in.
^ this is just the reverse of so many people saying vote labour THEN fight for your rights to be represented and your single sex spaces back.
At least my way we get our spaces back first. Smaller hill to climb.

GeneLovesJezebel · 06/04/2022 16:17

Good. What are you going to do now Keir ?

GeneLovesJezebel · 06/04/2022 16:18

About time someone had the balls to say it. Hopefully now the rest of us will be allowed an opinion.

Justme56 · 06/04/2022 16:18

Great tweet:

‘Boris just made Labour the party that’s coming for your children’ genius!

tabbycatstripy · 06/04/2022 16:20

‘and you think the Tories give a rat's arse about your daughter? Seriously?’

I do. My MP has been pretty good and open-minded. Tory. And knew I was a Labour voter.

Swayingpalmtrees · 06/04/2022 16:21

I will also my safety as a woman is paramount.
Absolutely non negotiable.

If Starmer doesn't even know I exist how on god's holy earth can he protect me? Protect my rights? Stand up for my interests and needs. If he can't even identify 51% of the nation, how can we possibly vote for him under any circumstances?

Johnson could grow seven heads and I would still vote for him if he is willing to recognise the hard issues and make a stand for us, and make some in roads to correct the huge mistakes that have been made.

SelfPortraitWithPterodactyl · 06/04/2022 16:22

Well he's a liar, a cheat and as corrupt as they come. So good luck to those who believe him.

Oh for goodness' sake. WE KNOW.

Which would you vote for, then? An unscrupulous, self-interested politician whose only real concern is to get and keep your vote, or a ideologue who is so full of puritan zeal that he will willingly sacrifice your vote rather than take any notice of opposing views? The great advantage of democracy (you'd think) is that it is designed to represent the voters' views. A sensible politician will capitalise on that, to everyone's benefit. The fact that Labour think that is beneath them is their own downfall.

Johnson could grow seven heads

I mean, I sympathise with the sentiment, but this is an image that may haunt my nightmares... Grin

Swayingpalmtrees · 06/04/2022 16:32

self Yes one is definitely enough for most of us! Grin

jkrfan · 06/04/2022 16:33

@tabbycatstripy

‘Given his track record, why on earth would you believe he (a) means it and (b) is going to do anything about it?’

I think he means it for the reason it’s easy to accept anyone would mean it: it’s common sense.

And he is doing things. He is resisting intense pressure to enact bad law.

Really pleased. 2 reasons for me: Stop SNP's Neverendum and protect women and children's rights.
Floisme · 06/04/2022 16:36

So what are you going to do, Labour Party?
Are you going to let a serially incompetent government make a fool of you?
Are you going to let a proven liar look plainspeaking and truthful in comparison to you?
Are you going to risk throwing away an election all because of one single issue?

Your move.

DelurkingLawyer · 06/04/2022 16:37

Well I am have been a Labour member and activist for the last 2 years and unless Keir gets his act together pretty soon I won’t be either of those things for much longer.

The Labour Party isn’t entitled to anybody’s votes. It has to earn them. Lots of people are single issue voters (remember Brexit?). Tough. Suck it up. If the Labour Party can’t get its policy and its message right on the single issue, it loses. As we have seen.

And telling people to hold their noses and vote for the greater good doesn’t work. Remember the sainted Jeremy? And all those people saying vote for him in 2019 despite all that pesky anti semitism in the party, you must think of the Greater Good? That didn’t work either.

bellinisurge · 06/04/2022 16:40

"Oh for goodness' sake. WE KNOW. " well said. @SelfPortraitWithPterodactyl
We fucking know and we still won't vote Labour while they don't respect women. Biological women.

Charley50 · 06/04/2022 16:41

The bullying by TRAs was just getting too much. They thought they had so much power over the government, and just about everyone. It's obvious they've overreached when they start demanding the EHRC isn't listened to. Who the fuck do they think they are? The policing of speech had gone too far.

I'm no Boris fan, or Conservative supporter, but blimey it is refreshing to hear this.

Labour have to get real and start admitting they were wrong on the subject now.

doublemonkey · 06/04/2022 16:42
Well that's super clear isn't it?

twitter.com/SkyNews/status/1511669445877551104
Crystal clear!

I'm gob-smacked actually. Well done Boris. He clearly knows far more about the complexities of the issue than he's letting on.

Scarybutnecassary · 06/04/2022 16:43

Agree with Boris but am not going to fall for voting Tory ..am not that stupid!
