Boris Speaks!

AndAsIfByMagic · 06/04/2022 12:23

Sky News.

He thinks it's unfair for biological men to compete in women's sports.

He says it's important to preserve women's spaces.

Says he has a lot to learn about the issue but we have to be sensible.

OP posts:
Needmoresleep · 06/04/2022 15:44

So catherina, are you arguing that because a Christian groups says so Boris should be calling for an abortion ban .

You really do have an odd set of views.

CatherinaJTV · 06/04/2022 15:44

@SelfPortraitWithPterodactyl

Fuck you, Starmer for making me agree with that dickhead.

Can we get postcards made, please?

Also please just stop with the vote-shaming. "Rabid"? "Lost all sense of proportion"? You know what, I am not going to vote for anyone who not only does not give a rat's arse about me or my daughter but says that acknowledging the root of our oppression is hateful. And given that this is about 51% of the population, the 51% that is poorer and more vulnerable and systematically undervalued and also that takes on the greater share of nurturing the next generation, if Keir fucking Starmer or anyone else dares to think we should suck it up, hold our noses and vote for the "real" issues they can fuck off until they cannot fuck off any more. Labour have lost my vote and it is THEIR OWN FUCKING FAULT.

and you think the Tories give a rat's arse about your daughter? Seriously?
HellonHeels · 06/04/2022 15:45

And for all the labour supporters coming onto this thread - Labour party (with a few hugely brave exceptions like Rosie Duffield) doesn't give a fuck about women. Until they do, they are not worthy of my vote.

MarshaBradyo · 06/04/2022 15:45

@PurgatoryOfPotholes

Starmer has been dancing up and down beside that open goal for months. So have the Lib-Dems.

I was beginning to wonder if Johnson should have gone to Specsavers/a drive to test his eyesight, on account of how he kept failing to notice it.

Dancing beside open goal

Yep a good way to put it

I can’t see how they can change on it now they’ve staked their ground

Neverreturntoathread · 06/04/2022 15:47

I hate Boris, but he is a political weather-vane. He stopped supporting ‘remain in EU’ because he knew Brexit would win. If Boris thinks transwomen should stop trampling over women’s rights, then it’s because he knows the vast majority of the country feel that way, no matter how many lobbyists flounce out of “lbgt+q*%xyz conferences” or whatever. Boris knows which strategy is going to win the next election.

And ugh he’s probably right. I hate him SO much, and I quite like Kier Starmer (go donkey sanctuary!) but if there was an election tmrw I would vote for Boris 🙈 because all the other parties are ok with transwomen taking over women’s safe spaces and sports and talking to primary school kids about anal sex and life-changing drugs, and I am not ok with any of that.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 06/04/2022 15:47

Don't hit quote until you've at least finished reading the sentence.

I'll supply the second half for you.

The not only... but sentence structure is a useful one.

Swayingpalmtrees · 06/04/2022 15:48

I was delighted to hear him speak so clearly and coherently about his stance on women's sports and spaces. There was no question about his position at all.

We are looking at a breakthrough - on many different fronts, but the PM actually standing there and saying that so clearly has given me hope.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 06/04/2022 15:51

This is what gives me the greatest pause about the Labour party as a whole- their institutional abuse of Rosie Duffield.

She's an actual MP, who managed to turn a traditionally blue seat red in 2017, and actually kept it in 2019 when Labour lost other seats. If they'll treat her like this, how will they treat any other woman after the election?

SelfPortraitWithPterodactyl · 06/04/2022 15:52

and you think the Tories give a rat's arse about your daughter? Seriously?

Not sure I'm voting Tory, but you're missing the point. I don't care why the Tories hold this line, as long as they do. If they do it purely to win my vote - fine. That is exactly the way democracy works: a political party has an incentive to reflect the wishes of the electorate. Labour are so wedded to misogynistic ideology that they have deliberately sacrificed my vote. That's unforgiveable.

Terfydactyl · 06/04/2022 15:53

@LookMoreCloselier

Please don't vote tory on this alone, it's a non issue in comparison to what's going on in the world right now and it's frankly baffling that this would be anyones hill to die on. They will of course say these things as it appeals to their gammon type voters, not a group I'd like to be aligned with.
I thought this had been discussed at length on many many threads? Apparently not. So here is what was said in a nutshell.

Trying to patronise us, infantilise us, condescend to us doesn't make us want to vote your way.

Swayingpalmtrees · 06/04/2022 15:53

and you think the Tories give a rat's arse about your daughter? Seriously?

At least Johnson seems to recognise she is a daughter! I am not sure Starmer could even answer that if asked tomorrow.

I will hold my nose and vote for ANY party that will ensure my dds and I are not erased. I don't actually give a damn about other issues as much as this one! It boils down to priorities, and for me this comes at the top of the list.

So watch out Labour, whatever backroom deals you have agreed with the activists - this will be your undoing.

heathspeedwell · 06/04/2022 15:53

This really should give more people the bravery they need to speak up.

I know some men have been speaking out, often at great personal cost, but they are few and far between.

This is the perfect moment for a group of male sports personalities to form a group to talk about how they would love to include transwomen on their teams.

Men being inclusive of transwomen is the way forward.

thank you.

He will say whatever gives him and the Tories your vote and then continue to enact policies that impoverish the country (hitting women and girls particularly hard), he won't fund courts (to find justice after rape for example), he will protect the head of the Met Police, despite one rotten apple after the other, etc etc.

TimBoothseyes · 06/04/2022 15:57

Doesn't change a thing for me still not voting Conservative.

lceni · 06/04/2022 15:58

Women's rights a non issue? Do you even know where this could actually lead to if someone doesn't take a firm stance?

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 06/04/2022 15:58

So what are the other parties doing to win our votes?

Swayingpalmtrees · 06/04/2022 15:59

tim I don't think he will actually need your vote lovely, he is looking at another landslide after this shift in policy.

Ok dearie if you say so.

I suspect the issue isn't that men won't include TW it's that TW don't want to complete with other men. Emily Bridges was still competing with men very recently. Lia Thomas spent 2 years on the men's team. Maxine Blythin plays on both the men's and women's teams. TW aren't being thrown out of men's teams are they? I imagine it would be headline news if they were.

SelfPortraitWithPterodactyl · 06/04/2022 16:04

Yes, Catherina, this may all be true. The fact remains that we are being asked to choose between someone who says something that we think is on the side of truth, justice and equality - knowing him to be an unscrupulous dick - and someone who, although he is probably less of a wanker, is spouting a rigid, misogynistic, hateful ideology in spite of knowing that it hurts women. You advise us to choose the latter. I remain unconvinced.

you say that like it's a good thing. Nevermind people starve or freeze to death, as long as there is no trans person in your library's toilets (what library, you may ask, after 12 years of Tory rule)
Neverreturntoathread · 06/04/2022 16:04

Yes @CatherinaJTV. We know. We know that Boris is a lying hypocrite who impoverished the country to get a promotion and then presided over a string of parties during lockdown while others were fined £10000. We did notice that.

But every other party is chanting “transwomen are women” while lobbying for the erasure of women’s safe spaces and dignity and throwing away children’s safeguarding procedures. So there is no one else to vote for.

It sucks.

If any of the other parties would like to grow a pair and stop reading the Stonewall/Mermaids script then I would absolutely love to vote for them instead.

The next election may well be fought on the single issue of ‘do women exist’.

I wonder how many female voters there are in Britain 🧐

We know that 12 years of Tory rule has hurt women across the country.

So why are Starmer et al prioritising a hypothetical commitment to give transwo men access to toilets, over gaining the power to prevent people freezing and starving to death?

Why is this a line they'd rather not cross than get elected?
