Sky News.

He thinks it's unfair for biological men to compete in women's sports.

He says it's important to preserve women's spaces.

Says he has a lot to learn about the issue but we have to be sensible.

@nauticant

Just in case my post looks targeted at those voting Labour, I fully support posters to vote for who they want, whether that's Labour, Conservative, or whoever. The thing I cannot stand is those posters who are saying that someone has to vote in a certain way.
I agree . And if people say I am voting x because of x that’s fine .

Trying to run down a party to influence others is wrong .And in fact I think quite patronising.

crispsarny · 06/04/2022 18:21

@Unsure33 of course you can vote for who you want to, where did I say you couldn’t? Like you can vote for who you want to I have a right to my own opinion along with as many FUCKING sweary FUCKING words as I FUCKING well like!

jkrfan · 06/04/2022 18:22

For goodness sake, I have just seen the Scottish Tories are trying to be different. Grr idiots.

Unsure33 · 06/04/2022 18:23

@Kreuzberg

However much I agree with Johnson on this issue I really couldn’t bring myself to vote for the tories. Still think it’s a cynical ploy to win votes and they care as much for women’s rights as they do poverty and inequality- which is actually very little. Couldn’t live with another 5 years of austerity. Just hope this will spur Starmer on to say something similar (although hasn’t he said something already in the same vein)
Austerity is not always caused by any government unfortunately. Sometimes it is global influences and if you get a government that borrows and spends even more someone always has to pay .
crispsarny · 06/04/2022 18:24

@TeenPlusCat so it didn’t happen on their watch/did happen on their watch.

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 06/04/2022 18:26

Starmer has really fucked up on this issue, i am soo gutted that i actually have more confidencein Boris.
I'm not sure my hand will actually obey a command from my brain to put an x in the Tory box but I cannot vote for Labour while they are shafting women and girls. Safety, respect, dignity and privacy are too fundamental to ignore. I will never trust Labour till they sort their shit out and stop prioritising feelings over safety.

Unsure33 · 06/04/2022 18:26

I never said you couldn’t. I just said it might actually put people off your point . You feel free to swear as much as you want. You obviously think it makes your points clearer .

🤷‍♀️

I IMO a think it’s foul mouthed .

TeenPlusCat · 06/04/2022 18:28
@TeenPlusCat so it didn’t happen on their watch/did happen on their watch.
It has happened while the Tories were in power, but not because of anything they actively did. Whereas Labour have been happily spouting off TWAW etc. There are lots of things you can lay at the door of the Conservatives, but not the horror show of Girl Guides, NHS etc.

crispsarny · 06/04/2022 18:31

@Unsure33 I’m an angry woman that’s why I swear, just like the Tories or any other political party don’t give a shit about women I don’t give a shit that you think I’m foul mouthed.

OhHolyJesus · 06/04/2022 18:44

For those who want to contact No.10

contact.no10.gov.uk/

Or

10 Downing St, London SW1A 2AA

I'll be sending a card as I'm old fashioned like that.

Pixiedust1234 · 06/04/2022 18:44

@SwissBall

Let’s not forget that JKR called out Keir Starmer, QC and former head of the CPS, for misrepresenting the Equality Act. Why is someone with such a close relationship to the law allowing this ideology to ride roughshod over it? Not to mention undermining his own credibility in the process. That is really concerning from someone so supposedly principled.
Apologies for the slight derailment but Swissball has reminded me of something. Does anyone know if Starmer was head of the CPS at the time when the parameter(?) for decisions on whether to prosecute rapes was "downgraded" (( Sorry, can't think of the right words I hope somebody understands what I am trying to ask))
loveyouradvice · 06/04/2022 18:45

for the first time ever I am grateful to BJ....

So so so hoping that Labour/Keir Starmer may begin to reflect on why this is going to be such a vote loser for them.... I do not believe they are that stupid.... If sport is beginning to see common sense (recent Cyclists letter), surely politicians might just too????

and not just a vote loser of course - but something that they must start to realise is deeply damaging to 51% of the population???

crispsarny · 06/04/2022 18:52

@TeenPlusCat exactly they stood back & did nothing, watched it go off & labour shoot themselves in the foot. You’re all mistaking my sweary angry rant with trying to shame any of you that are thinking of voting Tory, it’s not the case, I have considered it myself it’s just that all the political parties are the same, women do not matter, there is something deeply flawed & corrupt with our political systems.

Charley50 · 06/04/2022 18:57

Well, true to form it's been ignored on BBC TV and radio news so far. BBC website filed it under Sport. Let's see if Ch 4 deem it a newsworthy topic...

BBC has an ad running at the moment about how the BBC is for everyone. Like fuck it is. We pay the licence fee for what?

SelfPortraitWithPterodactyl · 06/04/2022 18:59

Fair enough, Roses. I think we're probably doing the same calculation with gritted teeth, and arriving at different answers. You say,

LD and Labour have their own issues but at least I’m holding the hope that things can be changed with public pressure.

but I think on this one they're less likely to concede, as their position seems to be held from some mysterious, semi-religious conviction rather than political pragmatism. I hope you're right and I'm wrong!

As so many people have said, what we really want is a credible opposition that supports women's rights, but if the way to achieve that is to batter Labour right now I'm prepared to do it.

Cyw2018 · 06/04/2022 18:59

I have a 4yo DD, so I will be voting for my DD future. I will be voting Tory. I am prepared to suck up some short term hardship in order to safeguard my DDs future and her safety.

I have in fact already voted conservative once, due to this issue, when I voted Welsh conservative in the senedd election last May.

SelfPortraitWithPterodactyl · 06/04/2022 19:00

I entirely sympathise with your anger, by the way, sarny, however you look at it the whole thing is a shitshow.

Bizarrely for the first time in what seems like forever #BorisJohnson isn't trending on Twitter.

I'm fairly sure a lot of people are tweeting about it both positively and negatively but Twitter appears to not want anyone to know this.

ChristinaXYZ · 06/04/2022 19:10

You'd think Labour would zip it and have good hard think for a bit, but no Rayner doubling down twitter.com/AngelaRayner/status/1511671203957776389

Terfydactyl · 06/04/2022 19:11

@FrecklesMalone

The take away from this is Boris is a populist. Therefore the pollers must have worked out that this is a populist view of right-wingers or potential Tory voters. He doesn't give a fuck about women's rights. So be warned don't think you are doing women any favours by keep the Tories in. Their track record is poor.
Yes, we know boris is all the nasty words you can shake a stick at, and more. Correct he gives no fucks about women. But neither does starmer, who cant even tell you if I'm a woman.

As is very often touted on here, vote labour, join labour, work from the inside to fix the issues. Well I'm going to do just that with Tory. I have a head start because they know I'm a woman.

HRTQueen · 06/04/2022 19:14

Yes I tried to look the news up on the BBC and it’s under sport

🙄

The Daily Mail discussions around self id, a Kier Starmer non answer and now Noris Johnson has for once given a direct clear response for this to be headline talking point and this is absolutely what it should be

I’m glad it’s got to this and I have no time for claims that it’s right wing press manipulation nonsense that some are claiming it to be

wonderfullife123 · 06/04/2022 19:18

Cannot bear the man but this was excellent. Practised and thoughtful despite saying he hadn't thought about it too much. That's a line in the sand and thank goodness. It's a real pity that Labour are making such a mess of it.

HRTQueen · 06/04/2022 19:18

FrecklesMalone

Labour are not looking out for women they have sided with a few males many who absolutely despise woman and have taken it upon themselves to decide what being a woman is

For that they shall lose many votes. I was thinking I can still vote labour but I can’t now this issue is has now moved form social media to a real political isues and rightly so

Labour have to decide what is important in society when they choose to listen to women again I may consider voting for them

Swayingpalmtrees · 06/04/2022 19:23

Sky is running Johnson's speech on a loop though, but is interesting to see such an important political stand by the PM of this country effectively blacked out of other news channels. The rot does seem to run very deep...

*For me Johnson has all the hallmarks of someone who is slowly but surely implementing a dictatorial system, erasing all form of dissents (see Chanel 4 , right to protest, justice system on its knees etc…) whilst keeping the population poor so their concerns are about putting food in the table/surviving rather than ‘rights’.
LD and Labour have their own issues but at least I’m holding the hope that things can be changed with public pressure. Whereas I don’t with BJ.

I also don’t believe women’s right will be anything but protected if our human rights charter is being disbanded*

Sorry this is just disinformation. You can protest when you like there is nothing stopping you doing so right now, Channel 4 is an expensive luxury we can no longer afford and the public are using so many other platforms now it is a good move. I work for the Justice system and we have a huge covid backlog (like everywhere else) but it is NOT on its knees thank you, and it is managing very well all things considered.

Your post is worrying because you seem to implying Starmer won't follow through with his plans, he absolutely will.

So you are voting for erasure by voting Labour. If you are happy with that, great, but at least have the courage to own the fact that you will no longer be called a woman, nor will your daughters and your rights and protections will cease to exist. You will cease to exist in any meaningful way. Why do you think so many of us are so alarmed?
