I do find Owen Jones's dismissal regarding genitals quite offensive actually.

Women know that penises are used as a weapon to cause harm against them. Thousands upon thousands of women, in the UK alone, are raped every year. By a penis. Because, by definition, that is what rape is.

You can still reply to others on a thread and add other tweets below your.

Twitter also added a hide other people's tweets option.

If a tweet has a little box to the bottom right side that indicates that the account hid replies to their tweet.
Some people use it to hide abusive tweets others to hide an opposing view.

I do wish all of this would kindly bugger off when there are so many other pressing issues to be getting on with, it's almost like a smokescreen, a distraction for those with too much time and not enough engagement on their hands.
