To be fair, has he actually done this?

I think he just keeps changing the subject and not outright denying that this happens, or endorsing it or opposing it, but rather just screeching about transphobia and scaremongering.

No, but he hasn’t defended lesbians when they say this coercive pressure has been placed on them.

He also seems to think it’s “tawdry” for people (including lesbians) to say “actually men do have penises”.

But he’s allowed to talk about female sex organs...

I agree it’s a valid question. If I as a biological female decided to identify as a man would he have sex with me and my male identifying vagina. Or is he a transphobe?

So far what I have seen (2015 onwards) is:

  1. He won't answer this
  1. He clutches his pearls over it and implies it's homophobic in the extreme to ask a gay man this without actually saying so
  1. He won't stick up for lesbians or say he agrees that they should be able to reject MTF trans people with penises

He seems to think that's a consistent position.

It IS consistent!!! Consistently applied each time.

no he wont he's always been an expert in digging holes for himself and refusing to look up, he aint going to change the habit of a lifetime, he will just look more and more like a joke to people and he probably wont ever understand why, he doesnt have the gray matter to channel to the amount of self reflection needed for him to understand anything beyond his own nose.

He has developed into a very unusual type of writer, grifting for the increasingly bonkers Opinion section of the Guardian.

He has become one of the ego-fuelled niche writers who frequently end up financially dependent on one main publication, and fairly vulnerable. He could well think he’s an ‘important’ thinker. Such types can be very bitter, especially where they perceive their critics to be monetarily better off than them.

You see it a lot of freelance writing and also much campaign activism.
