But he spoke to the biological facts, recognised the sex/gender debate, said we’re trying to find our way through it to something everyone can live with. I can’t argue with that. At least he’s not a coward.

I do acknowledge that. I have no issue at all with transgender people. There’s nothing wrong with living your life the way you want to live it. It’s just that other people have rights too.

He dipped a toe in the shark-infested waters a couple of months ago.

He's not stupid, that's for sure, and he's obviously way ahead of his comrades in identifying that they have to get the angry ladies back onside if they're going to have a hope in hell of not shaming themselves at the next election. (I'm not sure he's any friend to women, but that's the tragedy about this shitshow - supporting women in 2022 just means being ok with saying what one is.)

That seems like a better attempt than many others. And actually shows how easy it is.

Boris saying what he has, has meant others feel they can answer freely (although, they shouldn’t follow Rishi’s example. Tbf he might not have actually taken much notice of what Boris actually said which is why he couldn’t repeat it)

He’s taking quite a bit of flak, being called a right wing shit weasel etc. But so far (even if I’d like to sit him down and discuss where he thinks the line should be on single sex spaces and what he thinks should be taught as ‘fact’ in schools and other issues) he makes more sense than the rest of them put together.

Of course we should respect people’s experiences and strong feelings of identity. That doesn’t mean we all have to tell lies.

I think that it is a perfectly reasonable position to take - more politicians should take note

I think he was on the news earlier talking about the awful scandal at the maternity hospital and he used the words women and mothers and I thought oooh, he’s going to get in trouble for that!

I heard him being very good on a podcast recently, I can’t remember which one , maybe James O’Brien. I was impressed that he took quite a strong stance and also with a sensible rationale, and not afraid to say what he thought , in fact I was impressed all around, I hope he stays healthy as I think he’s a potential leader.
