A male Tory MP has released a statement on Twitter that they are transgender, and also that a couple of years ago they were raped.
It's a brave statement.

Sometimes I feel that my head is going to explode trying to understand this trans ideology

However, I don't think it can be treated as though he were raped by brute force against his will and left traumatised and needing and counselling.

Well, you'd be wrong, wouldn't you? How can anyone in 2022 still be stuck in the "not rape unless it's by brute force and five people hear the scream in the next county" school of non-thought?

He didn't consent to the conditions of this sex. It's rape and it's traumatising.

DrSbaitso · 30/03/2022 21:26

It cannot be treated as though he were raped by brute force against his will.

But it was against his will. Why are you downplaying a rape? What's your end game?

GCAcademic · 30/03/2022 21:29

So it is rape, because the other man wasn’t wearing a condom, when having consensual sex. (Although victim didn’t consent to sex without a condom)

Your two sentences contradict each other. They didn’t have consensual sex. Wearing a condom was a condition of the consent.

Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 30/03/2022 21:29

Bloody hell I can’t believe that someone is trying to minimise what happened - he didn’t consent to what happened, he was raped

DrSbaitso · 30/03/2022 21:30

Very different to rape of a partner not consenting to sex.

Rape laws need redefining.

He didn't consent to sex without a condom, and it was sex without a condom. What are you struggling with? What redefinition does the law need?
Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 30/03/2022 21:31

I wonder too - screenshots?

GCAcademic · 30/03/2022 21:31

If a punter refused to wear a condom and went ahead and had sex with a sex worker who required one to be worn, would that just be “rude”and not really against her will?

KatsuKatsu · 30/03/2022 21:31

I can't believe posters are downplaying rape.

Rape is rape

No means no

It doesn't have to involve violence to be violent

You don't have to be screaming to mean no

Anything less than enthusiastic, unmistakable, continuous consent - you stop.

Kids are taught this, ffs.

TheAbbotOfUnreason · 30/03/2022 21:33

Re the dodgy PhD - someone with his name was awarded a PhD by Cardiff Uni in 2015 in panspermia - whatever the hell that is. It may not be him, of course, but I don't see any reason to doubt that.

That’s him. But the premise of the PhD thesis is totally batshit a bit fringe and quite possibly based on a fake meteorite.

KatsuKatsu · 30/03/2022 21:34

Rape does not have to be physically violent to be traumatic

CarbonelCat · 30/03/2022 21:35

Maskless, with all due respect and kindness, and with huge sympathy for your sister, you are wrong.

Rape is rape, non-consensual sexual activity is assault. We don't decide other people's boundaries for them.

Pan-spermia = spreading your sperm about?
lborgia · 30/03/2022 21:38

This is what I've decided (press release pack available in the lobby).

JW has realised he doesn't like who he seems to be at the moment.

Not sure I really blame him. Not sure that's covered by "trans" though.

KatsuKatsu · 30/03/2022 21:39

It may be the legal definition, but he is trying to get the sympathy that is genuinely deserved by someone forced against their will, for a situation that he sought out! sympathy is not a finite resource

GCAcademic · 30/03/2022 21:40

To suggest it is, is a terrible insult to her and others who really were forced.

It should go without saying that I am very sorry for your sister.

But in the eyes of the law, rape has clearly defined parameters. And both of these situations count as rape, according to the law. Emotional arguments accusing posters of insulting your sister won’t change that.

By your criteria, a lot of women who are date raped aren’t actually rape victims either. Or women who endure marital rape.

Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 30/03/2022 21:40

Panspermia is the belief that life was spread throughout the universe by micro organisms carried on meteors asteroids comets etc. it’s generally believed to be nonsense

DrSbaitso · 30/03/2022 21:43

Rape does not have to be "forced" to be non consensual. The trauma of one victim does not erode the trauma of another who experienced a different type of attack. It's not a zero sum game. The insistence that all rape must be forcible stranger rape, which is relatively uncommon, or else it's not "real" is one enormous reason why rapists get away with it: because so many people think it's not real rape, or not traumatising.

I'm saving my concern for all the girls raped by the men who he recruited through his sugar daddy business. How many rapes/girls is currently not even on anyone's radar.
