MP is advocating the balance of probabilities so women should never be apprehensive about sexual predation because it's such a small number of men?

Am I understanding MP and the position of CDG correctly?

I don't care that MP is floundering and dragging confusion into his responses to BC's questions.

I cleave to my interpretation of MP on thread 2 yesterday any I retract any respect for him as an individual on this MRA showing.

PrelateChuckles · 18/03/2022 11:02

The probabilities are that a tiny % of half the population is still a fucking ginormous number, you privileged uncaring snake.

PrelateChuckles · 18/03/2022 11:02

(My last post was not a transcript, to be clear! )

Pluvia · 18/03/2022 11:03

MP now outed as an MRA.

Fluffymule · 18/03/2022 11:03

Men really don't like being told the truth about the % of sex offenders being men do they.

nauticant · 18/03/2022 11:03

What MP is saying is that he doesn''t like the tone of the red and black video even if when taken through the underlying facts he cannot find fault with them. MP: "The argument gets lost in the propaganda".

Sophoclesthefox · 18/03/2022 11:03

@tabbycatstripy

And MP is now going full MRA.

BC: So your objection is about finding that men are sex offenders? It is the male rights objection, isn't it? How dare women regard men as predators?

MP: No. You have to understand the probabilities.

No, MP, YOU have to understand the probablilities, chum.

Let me clue you in- the probably of a man being a sex offender is quite a lot higher than “not all men”.

And women don’t know which men it is.

PrelateChuckles · 18/03/2022 11:04

Rules of misogyny #10 and #12
10. The worst thing about male violence is that it makes men look bad.

  1. Women’s ability to recognize male behavior patterns is misandry.
longlines · 18/03/2022 11:04

He accepts that 99% of sex crime is committed by men but doesn't think it's appropriate to use this stat in the video.

It's the 10th rule of misogny at play, isn't it?

10. The worst thing about male violence is that it makes men look bad.

also the 12th, although substitute transphobia for misandy in this instance:

12. Women’s ability to recognize male behavior patterns is misandry.

Zeugma · 18/03/2022 11:04

BC - of course the [video] presentation is different from eg KS, but it's a campaign video
MP - refers to misleading statistics
BC - but they’re not misleading statistics are they?
MP - no

I am adopting that phrase forever when I see someone being verbally beaten into submission 😆
Whatiswrongwithmyknee · 18/03/2022 11:05

If MP misunderstands a stat of 99% of sexual offenders are male as saying most males are sexual offenders he is really, really, really showing himself up.

If he believes that stat or has no evidence to dispute it and still think that female-only spaces are not needed (and thinks he has the right to make that decision) then he is really, really, really showing himself up.

Pluvia · 18/03/2022 11:05

Just a reminder that MP is a man who works for a think-tank that carries out very research on (among other things) women's and girl's health and education and makes recommendations that governments follow.

tabbycatstripy · 18/03/2022 11:06

He is making an absolute chump of himself here.

Brilliant Grin

I think we're all revising our opinion of MP now aren't we. Yesterday he was walking a tightrope, today he has gone full MRA.

Scratch a liberal, find a fascist.

He REALLY doesn't like facts does he? Angry

Go on Ben, finish him!

nauticant · 18/03/2022 11:06

BC: The tribunal should draw the inference that [none of the CGD crowd or those whispering in their ears] takes the trouble to understand the argument that is made in support of single sex space and self-ID and you see it as an attack on transwomen.

Zeugma · 18/03/2022 11:06

BC - you too readily draw the inference that this is an attack on transwomen as sexual predators

MP - I disagree

BC - you didn’t take the trouble to check the standard of scholarship underlying KS's writing?

MP - I did not

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 18/03/2022 11:07

What can CDG's funders be thinking about the intellectual competence of senior staff in CDG?

Of their ability to understand nuance and context in the fiendishly complex area of policy making in other cultures and countries?

Again, where is their openness, transparency, and accountability?

I am shocked to my core.

nauticant · 18/03/2022 11:08

BC: The point QI made is MF understood the complexity and the strong feelings it excites and she cannot claim she cannot understand why people are offended.

Zeugma · 18/03/2022 11:08

BC - it is not right that KS denied trans people’s humanity?
MP - I don’t know
BC - it’s not right that the claimant ever denied it?
MP - no, but she understands the offence is there [sorry, his answer was much longer, I’m paraphrasing here]

tabbycatstripy · 18/03/2022 11:08

MP: Whether the offence is right or wrong, they're offended, right?

(So the argument is that someone is offended, we have to shut up.

I'm offended. Why isn't anyone shutting up?)

nauticant · 18/03/2022 11:09

Aargh, I meant:

BC MP: The point QI made is MF understood the complexity and the strong feelings it excites and she cannot claim she cannot understand why people are offended.

Helleofabore · 18/03/2022 11:10

The double standards are so very clear to see!! It is outstanding that MP is still in denial.

MRA mentality about those statistics - spot on!!
