New business on the block selling organic tampons via post and so on, called Yoppie. This is their instagram.

Text of instagram post:

'Most bleeders know how they are impacted by their period, but unfortunately aren't in touch with their feelings & symptoms in the other phases of their cycle. We are here to change that.'

I just can't stop laughing at this one. Grin

"Bleeders, breeders and leakers." I think I made a new jingle.

Cheekymaw · 15/03/2022 17:33

Another company I won't be going near.

@TheCovidHalfStone

I’m looking forward to the toilet roll manufacturers following suit.
🤣😂🤣

Do products aimed at males ever play with language like this?

Not that I've heard. Listening to the radio last night and heard a prostate advert which at the end- and quite rightly said "men, we are with you". And I thought! Yes... that's the language that both sexes should be using for anatomical issues.
Genesis1v27 · 15/03/2022 17:42

Ludicrous. Funnily enough, the text accompanying the photo says "Yoppie is here to empower women to take control of their menstrual journey through products and education to ‘Ride Your Cycle’!" How exclusionary.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 15/03/2022 17:44

@SamphiretheStickerist

And we are sure that isn't a spoof?

It's really hard to tell...

There is a website

yoppie.com/

Didn't Yoppie do Fingerbobs?

I remain bemused

MzHz · 15/03/2022 17:47

I am not a flower at all, but this kind of thing really and truly saddens me.

Bleeders. Is that all we are now?

Imanidiotiknow · 15/03/2022 17:50

Fucking hell, I actually laughed at that. this has got to be satire though surely Shock

As they say in something about mary, ‘we’ve got a bleeder’ Grin

I think I remember them in ER shouting that when someone had a severed artery.

Manekinek0 · 15/03/2022 17:54

This must be a publicity stunt. Surely she knows it's a derogatory term. I did check and it is in the urban dictionary so not just something that disgusting old men use in my area.

ProfYaffle · 15/03/2022 17:57

Bleeder? My northern Dad uses that as an insult as in "Can't stand him, he's a right bleeder" etc Hmm

AnxiousHeffalump · 15/03/2022 18:00

‘Bleeder’ is so offensive.

Cheekymaw · 15/03/2022 18:03

Anyone know any good ethical and non dehumanising washable sanpro products I could buy ? Between this and Always being sexist b*stards who hate women and our bits , I think I will be making my own like my mum used to do when she was young . Sickening isn't it ? They obviously don't need our money.

D0lphine · 15/03/2022 18:04

"Bleeder" is so dehumanising. I'm not a bleeder I'm a person.

The words they're looking for are "women and girls".

If they're desperate to be inclusive they could say "women, girls and other people who menstruate". Job done.

The comments on the post should show her how offensive this is.

Gumbomambo · 15/03/2022 18:05

Just awful. In Yorkshire we used to call naughty children bleeders as in “come ‘ere tha little bleeder”. What’s the point in it? I don’t understand how this is a good advertising strategy? Our bodies are not bleeding. Having a period is not like cutting your finger.

IdentifyingAsAPrincess · 15/03/2022 18:06

They don't advertise tampons like they did ten years ago.
