Sir Bernard Jenkins standing up for women on IWD - and a bunch of female MPs failing to.

This has just popped up on my youtube feed. It is Sir Bernard Jenkin, in the commons on the International Women's Day debate, pushing back against self ID and advocating for women's need for single sex space. Anneliese Dodds has a beef with him when he refers to her performance the other day. Once again, the betrayal of women by several female MPs astonishes and depresses me. Thank you, Sir Bernard.

It's literally the only arguments Liz has.

Hellofabore, could you give a link to the thread you mentioned about the background of some of the inclusionists, or a source? It would be very useful when debating with my Be Kiiiiiiiind friends, who ask me to question my allegiances on this issue.

@LizDoingTheCanCan

The racist expenses cheat Bernard Jenkin? Keeping it classy there guys!
Any time you want to make an actual argument, go right ahead.

Haven't we seen enough of purity spiralling yet? Really? I thought we had got over these hypocritical finger pointing posts.

This is an elected member of Parliament who has been re-elected by his constituency since that issue was publicised and resolved.

Shall we start listing all the spokespeople for inclusion and some of their backgrounds? It is really very enlightening and raise far more red flags than this issue. (Which was an issue and which was resolved.) I think there is a thread on it in fact for some of those currently facing prosecution or have been prosecuted just to start with. But there are many many others too.

Is this the one you are thinking of

There's also this one on some of the pioneers of gender identity Hirschfield, Money, etc).

There is some graphics floating around with the captured quotes from prominent transitioned males about what they say about women, what they think 'is' a woman and so on. It has not been updated and there have been some fucked up things said by prominent activists since then too. But this is quite enlightening as a start.

twitter.com/gnarlycharz/status/1368703619684589569?s=21

I mean, there is also websites collating 'terf is a slur' abuse, a website where lesbians are posting their abuse about not accepting males as sex partners from allies and transitioned males (although it might have disappeared).

There is so much that is around from the transitioned males and their vocal allies that I am sure that the people who post things on MN like 'look who also supports you...' type crap simply either forget what is collected about prominent people supporting gender ideology . Or they fully believe there is a subset of the population that cannot be held accountable for their opinions and their deeds. Not sure which would be worse.

Helleofabore · 11/03/2022 14:18

Oh. Thanks everyone. I have cross posted with you. And some other interesting links posted too. Thanks.

Helleofabore · 11/03/2022 14:20

I would like to point out to liz that the majority of what has been collected and posted are prominent people involved in trans activism. Not just randoms. These are/were people in positions of influence.

But ... yeah.... purity spirals are fun aren't they?

I'll be sending my thanks to Bernard Jenkin too. Thank you OP and everyone else who contributed, providing links, info, and even more brilliant things to read up on. Feeling elated Smile
ATeamAmy · 11/03/2022 16:29

You're welcome, and I will also be emailing Sir Bernard, so thank you for that link Leafstamp. I will also thank:

I had a lovely email from Kemi Badenoch this week in response to my thank you email to her; she said our supportive emails really don't go unnoticed. I will copy in my fence sitting MP as usual to try to get him to understand that supporting women is a vote winner, and to support his Parliamentary colleagues going forward.

Just on the Bernard Jenkin racist thing. If the sole evidence of his racism was using the word "coloured", as a woman of colour myself, I'll take it. My Windrush era immigrant parents would have described themselves as that up until they died a few years ago. Many of the older generation still do. Frankly, I don't see how the odious BAME acronym, which still lumps all us non whites together, is any better.

I hope the poster who got affronted is also cancelling Benedict Cumberbatch for using the word a couple of years ago, when, as a relative hip youngster, he ought to have known better. But no, he's still going very strong, tipped for an Oscar this year, I see. Still going strong is Mr Blackface himself, Justin Trudeau, happily giving away women's rights left right and centre and being forgiven by his liberal friends for the plethora of times he's blacked up for shits and giggles at parties. Ae you cancelling him too? Give me a Bernard Jenkin any day over a 2 faced woke bro, who hates me, but thinks his liberal credentials hide it. They don't.

@PurgatoryOfPotholes

These are a starting point
This makes me cry with anger
PurgatoryOfPotholes · 11/03/2022 17:27

I read the transcript of the online conversations that tech journalist Peter Bright had with an undercover agent, when he was trying to get access to children to rape.

Hardly surprising that he wanted mixed-sex toilets. It's men like Peter Bright that search for footage on pornhub from cameras placed in toilets and changing rooms.

NitroNine · 11/03/2022 17:27

So at 1424 Marion Fellows begins speaking; & her speech covers how much more vulnerable to domestic abuse disabled women are. With actual statistics & everything.

Presumably Wera Hobhouse was just having a little nap while she spoke, or perhaps is goldfishy of memory, because quite how she could otherwise have interrupted Bernard Jenkin to trot out: I just want to clarify this point. Because there are some predatory men who will always find loopholes for violence, is that a reason for not protecting the most vulnerable people that we have—that is, the transgender community? I honestly don’t know.

Jess Phillips began speaking at 1359, so the list of women murdered in the UK since IWD 2021 had been read, too. Wera Hobhouse had the absolute front to say - with family members of two of the women whose names were on that list sitting in the gallery! - that the trans community are “the most vulnerable people that we have”. A vulnerable population is not one made up of people more likely (in the UK) to murder than be murdered. If a group is vulnerable, the subset of them that’s in prison having been convicted of at least one sexual offence means either that safeguarding of said group has failed spectacularly or that they are not, in fact, more vulnerable let alone most vulnerable.

NitroNine · 11/03/2022 17:29

Bother: half of the subset of them that’s in prison

VestofAbsurdity · 11/03/2022 19:35

Quite @NitroNine. This most vulnerable, most oppressed shit trope needs to be robustly challenged every single time it is trotted out.

NitroNine · 11/03/2022 21:02

It’s enraging, isn’t it, VestofAbsurdity: so deeply offensive for a group to claim vulnerability & victimhood quite literally by “identifying as” vulnerable people who are victims of dreadful hate [non-]crimes.

That tagging on to the LGB & exploiting the history of those groups; then insisting TWAW & quite literally colonising our spaces while protecting & preserving their own, naturally; influencing policy, legislation, media, public bodies & private companies (all the while exploiting the desperate situation of trans women in Brazil, for example, for their own benefit): VULNERABLE GROUPS DO NOT GET THESE OPPORTUNITIES!!!

Here's another one.

Sir Bernard Jenkins standing up for women on IWD - and a bunch of female MPs failing to.
nevercis · 11/03/2022 22:56

Bernard Jenkin is reported as saying: “Now, between 2012 and 2018, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) reports over 436 cases of rape recorded as committed by women. The penis is a male organ, so, these rapes are committed by men presenting themselves as women.”

Can that really be true?

It is actually possible for a woman to be charged with rape in the role of an accomplice but it's rare. So in a 7 year period were there really over 400 recorded rapes by TW? That is over one every week.

NitroNine · 11/03/2022 23:55

I’m on my mobile so trying to trawl through would be… challenging… but Trans Crime UK keep a record of crimes committed by trans women in the UK from 2014 onwards: here are the rape & sexual assault convictions.

So far in 2022 5 trans women have been convicted of sexual offences.

It is of course important to bear in mind the enormous backlog in criminal courts, currently expected to be “a pervasive issue beyond 2024”.

It’s a horrifying number, but I think it unlikely Bernard Jenkin didn’t check those MOJ numbers and have them written down somewhere to refer to: he’ll be only too well aware he’d be pulled to pieces if he were to get it wrong.

donquixotedelamancha · 11/03/2022 23:56

Can that really be true?

Those figures sound right to me, if he's quoting people charged. Looking at the ONS data (which is based on convictions):

2009-2012 0% of rapes were commited by women
2014-2017 1.2% of rapes were commited by women
2017-2020 1.7% of rapes were commited by women

I can't find the 2012-14 data. It's wading through spreadsheets on the ONS website, someone else may have more time.

That's probably averaging IRO 7 rapes of men and 15 rapes of women by 'women' each year in recent years. Since vastly more victims are women that's a very high percentage for men.

Keep in mind these are convictions, the real number of offences will be much higher.

SwissBall · 12/03/2022 06:48

Great post OP. I saw this on Twitter for Justin Trudeau.
