From Glinner's update - this is brilliant:

It certainly does seem to be packed out with 'Equality Diversity and Inclusion' teams, while failing to notice that girls in poverty have been thrown to the wolves for decades.

The priority should be protecting poorer children, not men.

Yes. they are discussing the Telford scandal on the news this evening. Those poor girls. It just goes on and on and the women who try to raise the alarm are silenced. Nothing changes.

Em, I'm liking the cut of her jib.

So does Julie Bindel:

"I would rather give Donald Trump a massage than vote Tory, but if you want to know who I'd back to be the next PM? Kemi Badenoch all the way. She has her head screwed on. Only real grown up in the room. Save your breath telling me what she believes/has done that you don't like."

Good on Kemi:

"No gender neutral toilets allowed at Kemi Badenoch's Tory leadership launch - masking tape signs were stuck on the loos turning generic facilities into those for “men” and “ladies”"

Even the gender-dazzled BBC reporting it!

BlueWhat · 12/07/2022 20:57

Blimey! Looks like the parties are realising that women do have half the votes and it's going to be a deal breaker!

Won't be long for Labour and the rest stopping their TWAW nonsense!

Give it 6 months and they will be gas lighting everyone.

I can't actually think of a more glittering example of 'First World Problem' than that of natal British heterosexual woman claiming that she's oppressed (or even 'cancelled' - whatever the F that actually means) by a class of person - transwomen - that she's probably never even met.

I can’t actually think of a more glittering example of ‘first world problem’ than that of of natal British heterosexual males (aka trans women) claiming that they are oppressed by a class of person - women - because they are saying “no thank you”.

Quite.

DollyBantry · 12/07/2022 21:36

A clarification further down the twitter thread … the temporary signs had been up for a couple of months and had nothing to do with Kemi or her team.

ContradickstoryEvidence · 12/07/2022 22:05

Discussion shortly on GB News about the contest and whether the "What is a woman?" question will be the one that makes or breaks the candidacies (followed by an interview with Scott Nugent).

Badenoch is right wing and on the side of the bullies everywhere, it seems, other than in the context of natal women versus transwomen. In that context, she's a 'lefty'. Yeah right. Absolutely plausible, that is.

There really is nothing more pathetically contemptible in politics than a powerful group bleating, whining and bursting into tears about being 'oppressed' by a clearly much less powerful group.

I can't actually think of a more glittering example of 'First World Problem' than that of natal British heterosexual woman claiming that she's oppressed (or even 'cancelled' - whatever the F that actually means) by a class of person - transwomen - that she's probably never even met.

Women everywhere are marginalised or oppressed on the basis of biological sex.

The manifestations of oppression/ marginalisation may differ, but it doesn't matter if you live in Timbuktu or the UK, it still presents itself.

If you've ever been sidelined for a job in the UK, because you were a woman or pregnant, you were marginalised for your sex
If you weren't allowed to school in Africa, because there's only school fees for the boy in your family, you were marginalised because of your sex
If you were ostracised and sent to a period hut in Nepal, you were marginalised because of your sex.

If UK women are being redefined in law, against their consent, with resulting loss of Rights to privacy, dignity and safety, it's because of their Sex.

Just say you don't understand women, and stop butting in female conversations about resolving our issues.

She's through to the next round, with Jeremy Hunt and Nadhim Zahawi failing to get enough votes.

Motorina · 13/07/2022 17:09

She's through to the next round!

"I would rather give Donald Trump a massage than vote Tory, but if you want to know who I'd back to be the next PM? Kemi Badenoch all the way. She has her head screwed on. Only real grown up in the room. Save your breath telling me what she believes/has done that you don't like."

I totally buy the "has her head screwed on, only real grown up in the room" bit - that's exactly how Badenoch comes across on camera and in prose.

I'm really surprised at Julie Bindel endorsing her over the others though! Presumably JB understands how right wing she is. Or does she only mean "back" like in the bookies?

But the older I get, the more I start to think that a political leader's personality is more important than their policies, maybe JB is feeling the same way.

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 13/07/2022 19:05

Anybody a Wikipedia editor? I just saw from Twitter thread that KB's Wikipedia article claims that she "mocked gay marriage." It does say that, and it isn't true!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kemi_Badenoch

The source is a Ben Hunte article which makes no such claim despite off the scale levels of bias.

www.vice.com/en/article/jg8znx/uk-equalities-minister-kemi-badenoch-goes-on-anti-lgbtq-rant-in-leaked-audio

Isn't it interesting how TRAs have to link their opposition to homophobia in order to blacken their name. Almost like their cause isn't popular or something.
