Not only is Lia the champion, but Lia set a new pool record. Lia was, I believe, 7 seconds faster than Catherine Buroker.

I am wondering how long will it take for countries like Russia and China to figure out that instead of risking their female athletes being disqualified for doping they can simply sign up men to compete.

this meet took place in Cambridge MA near me. It is almost entirely unreported. The Boston Globe - newspaper for the area - has mention of it on its sports pages in the also ran section - well below reports of high school sports etc. The reporting itself makes no mention of how Thomas was on the mens team until 2019 and doesn't even make a stab at nuanced reporting on the subject. The feelings/achievements and consequences for the female members of the team are unreported. Meanwhile there are headlines on that abused 15 year old in Russia who won nothing in the end. I really feel bad for the female team members who not only have to endure this cheating, they are stuck in a situation where they can't speak openly about it or they will be trashed in public.

If a clearly male body can blow records in a sports and no mainstream sports reporters have the courage to call it as it is ... well that's it for women's sports here. It is incredibly depressing and just plain wrong. We all know what we are seeing.

I once thought a comment I made was deleted due to use of the term "male person" but apparently it was deleted for use of the term "peak trans" so it seems to depend.... But anyway.... Life in the Gulag....

The mail report shows everything we know. Thomas is male and women cannot compete against men. Nothing will change until men cheat their way into women's sports in huger numbers so it is blatant and rules are changed. I think it will take years to go through.

Those asking why Thomas doesn't have a conscience could also ask why do more males act violently to women than the reverse - it's all male entitlement.

Lia Thomas broke a Harvard pool record - and the newspaper of record in MA didn't report it on the sports headlines. They reported high school sports before it. They know it is a cheat. We know it is a cheat . The women who competed with Thomas know what it is but cannot say anything or they will be villified on social media and ostracised on campus. What kind of a person is Thomas that they would do this to "fellow" women????

I am so disgusted by this and by the media's response - or rather lack of response.

I believe Thomas is "living as a woman" already? Isn't that why Thomas swims and changes with the women?

It doesn't make any sense to me but I think that's how the rules work now.

Thomas cannot live as a women as he cannot push out his Y chromosomes, prostate gland etc, double his X chromosome, change puberty to develop breasts etc.he can, however, continue to lie.

How does one "live as a woman?"

Genuine question 😳 may be naiive so apologies.

Do we have to cut them and make them bleed for a week? Do we discriminate against them and give them unequal pay and opportunities? Or can we start asking that they return to the kitchen, or during a company board meeting as the only female, that they take the tea order? Or how about we bombard them with micro aggressions and sexual misconduct/abuse, some stalking or higher risk of DV and male violence?

Or is it just a pink frock and nail varnish on days ending in Y? 🙄
